Because it was so sudden I hadn't researched crematoriums or other options. The vet, who was terrific, said my love would go to a local crematory of which he thought highly. Over the weekend I read the reviews and was horrified by other pet owners' stories - mix-ups of their pets with others, communal cremations (dogs, cats, birds - you get a little bit of all of them), and disrespectful treatment of their loved ones, among other situations. (I've since hear further horror stories.) Thanks to the power of the internet I found Pine Castle Pet Cremation. I called on Saturday, not really expecting an answer - and almost immediately was speaking with the owner, Terry. I immediately felt reassured that this was where my girl should be. Because of the weekend and my vet's office being closed, nothing had happened to my sweetie. When the office opened Monday morning I was there to pick her up and take her to Terry's location. As kind and gentle in person as he was on the phone, he explained the process - offering as little or as much detail as I wanted. Totally dignified from when I arrived until I left a few hours later with my girl. She's home, and I know it's her, and I can rest easy. Losing someone special is incredibly painful. They requested a deposit since it was the holidays, and of course I understood . This past weekend, she crossed the rainbow bridge. I called the hospital to let them know but I was so distraught I could barely finish the call. A few days later, staff called me to tell me they were refunding my deposit. I was sincerely touched. It was not expected ,yet it made me teary eyed. I just want to thank you for your kindness and professionalism. You will be my new vet from now on. Just a side note...I asked to see their boarding area first and the girl that showed me around was very nice and honest and the area was clean. The front desk staff was very friendly and thorough. BE CAREFUL WITH YOU PETS AND THE MEDICATIONS GIVEN…read more We brought our family dog in for a cough and sneeze. They gave us 2 medications, an antibiotic and something for the cough. The following day (AFTER) we had already given our dog some of the medications, we were called and were told that the medication bottle given to us had the wrong label. Luckily, the medication in the bottle was accurate, however the name listed on the bottle was Benadryl but it was actually a controlled opioid-like substance. THIS IS A GROSS MISTAKE. On top of it they asked us to return to get the label fixed and then proceeded to try and charge us the difference in the medication cost... What a poorly run facility. We are lucky they even gave us the right medication at all, this type of negligence could be disastrous. If taking your dogs here be warned and i would triple check with the vet themselves on what should be prescribed, make sure it matches the name given by the front desk staff, and don't be afraid to question everything because clearly it's needed.
