Although the hotel is little old and not as much activities like the other hotel offers we definitely have a wonderful experience and we love that our room is located just outside of the pool and beach area . They also have a convenience store which was nice and we can buy eggs, bacon, bread etc for our breakfast. The room has a good size kitchen, stove top, microwave , toaster and kitchen utensil which was very good for us since my son likes simple things and we can easily make it and less expensive ad well:) One thing I like most also is because of our room location we can just have breakfast in our balcony and see the pool and the ocean and walk while see my son in the balcony which is amazing! Today is our last day but we are definitely coming back to Cancun. The one thing we don't like so much is the pillows and the bed little hard it hurts our neck. Other than that we had a great vacation :)

Breakfast buffet was included which was amazing. The down side is that the hotel faces north. It blocks its own sunshine. So the pool doesn't get any sunshine until about 11am and then it's in the shadow from 4:30pm onwards. The beach outside the hotel is very shallow. The water will reach your knees for quite some distance until there's a drop. I'm not sure if this is naturally occurring or man made. It is also far from the other hotels where they typically provide water sports (jet skis, parasailing etc). They provide airport transportation at 350 pesos per trip. This is much cheaper than hiring a private car.

We arrived late and asked for bottled water, and were told to just drink the sink water... in Mexico. That alone set the tone. I also repeatedly emailed our concierge for assistance and received no response whatsoever. Our room smelled like mold, and the sheets were damp. Housekeeping replaced them, but the odor and overall condition never improved. Not what you expect at this level. Then it got worse. We had two rooms, one at this hotel and one at a neighboring hotel where a large group of our family was staying. That other hotel requires wristbands, which we had, so security here assumed we didn't belong, even though we had rooms at this property. At the pool, they approached us publicly and repeatedly questioned us, over and over, in front of everyone. No attempt to verify privately, no discretion, just standing over us and making a scene. It was humiliating. Then it happened again. While checking out, we crossed back onto this property to retrieve our luggage that they were holding. Security stopped us again and treated us like we were doing something wrong, only to confirm, once again, that we were legitimate guests. Two separate incidents. Same behavior. The level of aggression and lack of professionalism from security is completely out of control. This is not how paying guests should ever be treated. This wasn't just a misunderstanding, it was a failure in how guests are handled, and it happened more than once. We will never stay here again.

No balcony, no patio etc..They required us to pay extra for a room with a balcony. Well, I couldn't breathe in the original room, so we were backed into a corner and had to pay extra for a different room. Nothing like penny pinching. In addition, the original rooms tv remote didn't work, the lamp was inoperable and it was run down. We were a group of 8, with 4 different rooms. All but 1 group was able to get an 11 o'clock. Their check out was 10, so we all had to accommodate the earlier time in order to operate as a group. The hotel wasn't even busy! It is a far stretch calling this a resort and spa. I didn't see anything that fit in that category. The room we paid to upgrade to did have a great view. I would not recommend this place. Marriott should be embarrassed to have their stamp on this property.

We enjoyed the aquatic aerobics a lot. The individual straw covered chairs and seating areas are nice. Rooms are decent, but we had some issue with the wood blinds being stuck on their rails. Had to get maintenance at night but they didn't come till morning. So first night we slept with a lot of outside light in, no black out. Staff is overall well trained and friendly. They all speak fairly good English. They try to sell you timeshare there -- we passed. The stay overall was decent for the cost. They are a vacation club property so they don't honor Marriott's elite tier benefits either. Food is expensive. We didn't eat on site. There is a bus outside that goes thru the entire hotel zone and to the city. They take either 12 Mexican pesos or 1 USD. Easy. Takes 40 minutes to get to downtown without traffic. With traffic at rush hour it could take 1.5hours -- extremely crowded.

So, the first day I was here I ordered chicken tenders and fries(because Im a toddler) because I didn't want to leave for food. After eating it I was a little queasy and threw up a bit and thought nothing of it. Especially since the food was cold when it arrived. Next, I ordered a plate of pineapple and an hour later I was projectile vomiting in the bathroom I almost didn't make it. However, my body was trying to get rid of those toxins so quick that I threw up so hard so many times my ribs on my left side were bruised. I mean to the point where laying down was the only thing that barely helped the pain. I had Ibuprofen delivered to my room which I know is harsh on the stomach but I needed pain relief. I had to have the people in the airport help me. I should have gone to the ER when I came back home but I didn't. I'm still sore. I know it's sick........... but I would come back here again because I love the room, the pool, the view, the staff, the vibe, and the price! I will wait a few months but besides almost offing me with the room service I loved every other aspect! Not too many kids either. It was a bit loud at times when people came back from partying. Other than that I really did love this place.

The only thing that really bother me was the "concierge " that they assigned you. Almost every time we stepped into the lobby, they will approach you and will try to sale you discounted activity packages. I was on vacation and did not have any intentions on following any of their schedules. Other than that, the rest of their staff were friendly and helpful. I would recommend and I would stay here again.

A whole lot of AWESOME packed into a small footprint!…read more All in all a great experience. The desk crew was friendly and efficient. We had a corner suite in the altitude tower and it was wonderful with a large balcony and wrap around windows. The room was very nice, spacious and clean. Bed and chairs were very comfortable, shower had great pressure. The resort had a huge beach next to the breakwater, so the ocean is a bit calmer in that corner. Plenty of space to lounge around all day, do it, really! The resort has several pools, my favorite was the infinity pool over the beach, very relaxing. All the pools and beach had guys taking drink orders, loved it. As for food several great options. The breakfast buffet at the O restaurant had a huge spread, no matter what you were in the mood for you were covered. For lunch the grill place over the main pool is the place to be, Everything we had there was delicious. Try the passion fruit cevicha, heaven on a plate. For dinner the Asian fusion restaurant has a great hibachi, the chef was possibly the best I have seen yet, very skilled and entertaining. The food was well seasoned if not a bit salty, but very good. The resort packed a lot into a relatively small footprint, well maintained and taken care of. I highly recommend it.

Others you would have to make a reservation. We made a reservation at Ayambi (spell check) restaurant for habachi. Why'd we get seated at a regular table? Not where they actually grill the food. They don't use straws at all. I know..let's save the turtles but what about cardboard straws? I watch how they washed cups at the bar.. Literally in soap water & back on the shelf..no heat..no sterilization..I bought my own cup to use. There really isn't entertainment. I was there a total 4 days& there was a live music band 1 night & not too flattering. My girls & I brought our own speaker for music when lounging at the pool, cabana, etc.. Positives I loved the set up & the fact that's it's on the beach. The best part is location. It was literally a 5-7 minute walk to the strip where the clubs, shopping, and action is. The spa is pricey but the sauna was awesome! I had room credit but in town are cheaper massages. Once I finally realized all the restaurant choices, i was a happy fat gal. There's food& drinks provided to you on the beach, by the poolside .. Really anywhere. There's soda & water in your room refrigerator & room service for late night hunger. The Cabanas on the beach made me feel like it was VIP service. Make sure you go to Chedraui supermarket. The liquor is mad cheap!

Was it an amazing experience, not exactly, but they are renovating, so I would be curious to come back and see what they had to offer. We went literally the last couple days they were open. The bars were nice, the pools were good, the walkway to the beach was soo easy to access. The restaurants were about half open and half closed, as well as some of the shops. But what was available and what was there for us to use and have access to, was amazing. People smile and make you feel welcome only to treat you like a second class citizen once you say NO. Upon arrival, you're introduced to the VIP area, which is everything short of that. You have at minimum four vultures circling you as you check in. We couldn't politely excuse ourselves after a long tiring flight as José Manuel absolutely had to explain all the benefits to being a part of the "vacation club" aka time share. At 12:30am, we had the pleasure of drilling as the maintenance crew was fixing "something". The following day, the pump to our pool didn't work and when the maintenance man came the boards snapped and cracked as he replaced the pool pump. Our final night, we wanted to enjoy one of many restaurants on the premise - started at the Italian place and was immediately disappointed- sauce was sweet and no comparison to marinara. We excused ourselves to try the French restaurant. We entered, we're asked to wait in the "waiting area" and then was able to be seated. Then the hostess asked me to ask my husband to button his shirt (it was opened two buttons, which Puerto Madero had NO issue with at all). I mentioned to her, if there was an issue when we arrived, why wasn't anything said? Upon his return from the loo, we left and I called the manager. We will NEVER return to this place again, nor will we support any of their affiliated resorts. Also, there was one arrogant manager, who had for lack of better terms, Vaseline hair gel, who had the audacity to say, if we don't participate in their vacation club, "we already got your money". What the hell is happening to Cancún? Last time we go cheap - go cheap, get crap.
