Although the hotel is little old and not as much activities like the other hotel offers we definitely have a wonderful experience and we love that our room is located just outside of the pool and beach area . They also have a convenience store which was nice and we can buy eggs, bacon, bread etc for our breakfast. The room has a good size kitchen, stove top, microwave , toaster and kitchen utensil which was very good for us since my son likes simple things and we can easily make it and less expensive ad well:) One thing I like most also is because of our room location we can just have breakfast in our balcony and see the pool and the ocean and walk while see my son in the balcony which is amazing! Today is our last day but we are definitely coming back to Cancun. The one thing we don't like so much is the pillows and the bed little hard it hurts our neck. Other than that we had a great vacation :)

Breakfast buffet was included which was amazing. The down side is that the hotel faces north. It blocks its own sunshine. So the pool doesn't get any sunshine until about 11am and then it's in the shadow from 4:30pm onwards. The beach outside the hotel is very shallow. The water will reach your knees for quite some distance until there's a drop. I'm not sure if this is naturally occurring or man made. It is also far from the other hotels where they typically provide water sports (jet skis, parasailing etc). They provide airport transportation at 350 pesos per trip. This is much cheaper than hiring a private car.

I did have lunch at their pool side restaurant which the special of the day was poke and it was delicious. Service was also friendly and prompt. As I was there on a day pass they held my passport u til I returned the key card to access the gym/locker room and the two towel cards. I really enjoyed they have a lending library and I got to pickup a book while there. In usual fashion, pool chairs were reserved as soon as the day starts which made it harder to find a prime seat. They also had a competition at the pool area that was entertaining to watch. Restrooms could have been better marked for directions as I wondered we around for a hot minute to find the ones labeled on the maps. Maybe it was just me? Overall great day at the property and I'll stay here next time to get the full experience.

We arrived late and asked for bottled water, and were told to just drink the sink water... in Mexico. That alone set the tone. I also repeatedly emailed our concierge for assistance and received no response whatsoever. Our room smelled like mold, and the sheets were damp. Housekeeping replaced them, but the odor and overall condition never improved. Not what you expect at this level. Then it got worse. We had two rooms, one at this hotel and one at a neighboring hotel where a large group of our family was staying. That other hotel requires wristbands, which we had, so security here assumed we didn't belong, even though we had rooms at this property. At the pool, they approached us publicly and repeatedly questioned us, over and over, in front of everyone. No attempt to verify privately, no discretion, just standing over us and making a scene. It was humiliating. Then it happened again. While checking out, we crossed back onto this property to retrieve our luggage that they were holding. Security stopped us again and treated us like we were doing something wrong, only to confirm, once again, that we were legitimate guests. Two separate incidents. Same behavior. The level of aggression and lack of professionalism from security is completely out of control. This is not how paying guests should ever be treated. This wasn't just a misunderstanding, it was a failure in how guests are handled, and it happened more than once. We will never stay here again.

Where do I even start?! We had the BEST time at The Westin Cancún! This was one of those vacations…read morewhere you leave already talking about when you can come back -- and luckily for us, we're already planning to return at the end of September! What made this trip so special wasn't just the beautiful resort, the food, the drinks, or the activities -- it was the PEOPLE. The staff went above and beyond to make our stay fun, welcoming, and memorable. We participated in SO many activities during our stay. We rode the FlowRider several times, played water games, did pool workouts, made brackets, enjoyed the themed dinners, spent time at the sports bar, ate A LOT of food, had plenty of drinks, and basically said YES to everything fun happening around the resort. The Fun Team was absolutely AMAZING! Oscar was our FlowRider instructor and was fantastic! We had so much fun that we went back multiple times. He was encouraging, patient, and made the experience so much fun. Guillermo was awesome with the pool exercises and brought such great energy to the activities. Claudia and Anna Banana were also incredible and helped make the activities so much fun. They brought personality, energy, and so many laughs to our days. And then there were all of the people who took care of us throughout the resort: Fernando -- Bartender Manuel -- Bartender -- seriously, an AMAZING bartender! Fernando -- Bartender Vicente -- Bartender Louis -- Food Operations Raphael -- Front of House Staff Wilbert "Willy" -- Sports Bar Waiter Selso "Seltzer" -- Steak & Win Server Jesus -- Sports Bar Chef Felipe -- Sports Bar Manager Maria -- Massage Therapist & Spa Staff Every one of them deserves a shoutout because they each added something special to our vacation. And I have to mention housekeeping, because our room was absolutely spotless and clean! Anytime we needed our room cleaned, the staff was on it. We never had to worry about coming back to a messy room, and that made such a difference during our stay. It was clear that the entire resort takes cleanliness seriously. The themed dinners were one of our favorite things, and we loved having so many different activities available. We never felt bored because there was always something going on -- but if we wanted to just relax by the pool, we could do that too. The sports bar was another favorite, and Willy, Jesus, and Felipe made our time there even better. The food and drinks were great, and the service was wonderful. And the spa! Maria was amazing, and the entire spa staff made the experience relaxing and enjoyable. Honestly, what impressed us most was how many employees remembered us, interacted with us, and made us feel like more than just another guest. Those little interactions are what you remember when you get home. The Westin Cancún has an INCREDIBLE team. Please recognize these employees because they truly made our vacation what it was. We came to Cancún to relax, have fun, eat good food, drink good drinks, and make memories -- and we did ALL of that. Now we're already counting down to the end of September! Thank you, Westin Cancún, for such an amazing stay. We can't wait to come back and hopefully see all of these wonderful people again! 10/10 vacation. 10/10 staff. Spotless rooms. Amazing activities. Great food. And 100% coming back!

I've been to some really amazing Marriott properties this year so it was a little underwhelming to come here and experience the less than subpar hospitality items that I'm familiar with the Marriott brands. Let's go with the bedding linens and towels. The bed was super hard, it actually worked for me because I had slept wrong and the hard bed put me back in shape by our first night there. So for me, I didn't mind the rock hard bed. For my big baby, it did. We also got a double bed room because it was the room that was ready when we got there, we were sleeping together anyway so we took it. The beds were not two queens they were full beds. Luckily I like to lay super close to my partner so this worked for us too but patrons should know it's a super small bed if you're a bigger couple wait for the king room. We are both smaller so we didn't mind. The sheets were also super stiff. It gave hospital bed vibes. Definitely not a high thread count. My big baby made a joke that the beach towels were softer than the restroom towels and that was true. Not sure what kind of towels we got but they were not soft. The restroom was also average size but the shower was small! I couldn't even get in the shower with my partner that is how small it was. So if you're a couple who showers with your partner, like us, not happening here! The Westin had some really amazing nice workers who were awesome! The issue wasn't them at all, it was the property. It's older, run down, and in need of an upgrade. The other reviews are true, this is far from the action but I like to travel during Sept-Dec because it's less people, so for me this worked; it was an easy uber ride to the main area by the mall. Overall, this place is okay, not 5 star by any means. I don't complain so I had a wonderful time on my first getaway with my big baby and enjoyed his company. It did feel like we had a private beach and also felt like we had the entire resort to ourselves. So that was a plus traveling during this time, October. Would I come back? Not sure but you should if you find a good deal like some of the other Yelpies did! I managed and so will you. This Westin will always hold a special place in my heart, hard bed and all. The company you keep is what makes life truly special. Thanking God for unanswered prayers. Love and love again! It's what we were born to do. What is life without love?

The OUTSIDE BAR, POOLS AND BEACHES*** was just magnificent!!! The pool area was very luxurious! Felt like I was at an elite resort. The bar had good drinks and the bartender understood English pretty well!! Their access to the beach had a nice set up. They had cabanas, chairs and huts. There was always plenty- never had to wait for someone to get up or anything. This hotel is in the perfect location of everything!!!! Side Note- To set up a shuttle to and from the airport, go to the hotel's website and select 'Contact Us' and tell them you need a shuttle and they will reply to you within 24hrs asking about your arrival time and further instructions. Round trip for me was ($98) which is normal. This hotel was 20 minutes from the airport No matter what hotel you end up choosing, always order your shuttle through the hotel only!!! So, the first day I was here I ordered chicken tenders and fries(because Im a toddler) because I didn't want to leave for food. After eating it I was a little queasy and threw up a bit and thought nothing of it. Especially since the food was cold when it arrived. Next, I ordered a plate of pineapple and an hour later I was projectile vomiting in the bathroom I almost didn't make it. However, my body was trying to get rid of those toxins so quick that I threw up so hard so many times my ribs on my left side were bruised. I mean to the point where laying down was the only thing that barely helped the pain. I had Ibuprofen delivered to my room which I know is harsh on the stomach but I needed pain relief. I had to have the people in the airport help me. I should have gone to the ER when I came back home but I didn't. I'm still sore. I know it's sick........... but I would come back here again because I love the room, the pool, the view, the staff, the vibe, and the price! I will wait a few months but besides almost offing me with the room service I loved every other aspect! Not too many kids either. It was a bit loud at times when people came back from partying. Other than that I really did love this place.

After mid weekend it took an average 15 minutes to get to the lobby! I'm not a big lover of buffets so I wasn't thrilled that the main restaurant always had 1. Others you would have to make a reservation. We made a reservation at Ayambi (spell check) restaurant for habachi. Why'd we get seated at a regular table? Not where they actually grill the food. They don't use straws at all. I know..let's save the turtles but what about cardboard straws? I watch how they washed cups at the bar.. Literally in soap water & back on the shelf..no heat..no sterilization..I bought my own cup to use. There really isn't entertainment. I was there a total 4 days& there was a live music band 1 night & not too flattering. My girls & I brought our own speaker for music when lounging at the pool, cabana, etc.. Positives I loved the set up & the fact that's it's on the beach. The best part is location. It was literally a 5-7 minute walk to the strip where the clubs, shopping, and action is. The spa is pricey but the sauna was awesome! I had room credit but in town are cheaper massages. Once I finally realized all the restaurant choices, i was a happy fat gal. There's food& drinks provided to you on the beach, by the poolside .. Really anywhere. There's soda & water in your room refrigerator & room service for late night hunger. We had a corner suite in the altitude tower and it was wonderful with a large balcony and wrap around windows. The room was very nice, spacious and clean. Bed and chairs were very comfortable, shower had great pressure. The resort had a huge beach next to the breakwater, so the ocean is a bit calmer in that corner. Plenty of space to lounge around all day, do it, really! The resort has several pools, my favorite was the infinity pool over the beach, very relaxing. All the pools and beach had guys taking drink orders, loved it. As for food several great options. The breakfast buffet at the O restaurant had a huge spread, no matter what you were in the mood for you were covered. For lunch the grill place over the main pool is the place to be, Everything we had there was delicious. Try the passion fruit cevicha, heaven on a plate. For dinner the Asian fusion restaurant has a great hibachi, the chef was possibly the best I have seen yet, very skilled and entertaining. The food was well seasoned if not a bit salty, but very good. The resort packed a lot into a relatively small footprint, well maintained and taken care of. I highly recommend it.
