I arrived at 10pm on a Friday night. Their posted closing time is 11pm. When I entered, there was no one at the hostess booth. I waited for about 5 minutes and no one came. Then I entered and went upstairs. I asked for a table for 1 from the waiter upstairs. He asked me if anyone has directed me to come upstairs with a slightly displeased attitude. I said no, and then added that I waited by the host booth for 5 mins. He asked me to go back there. 2 minutes later some other waiter came. I told him table for one, he said "we are closing at 11pm, can you finish by then?" with a rather annoyed attitude. At the time it was 10:10pm. First of all, from what I know the closing time is for the kitchen, not for the restaurant. Restaurants don't boot their customers out when their closing time comes. Secondly, I can understand that sort of question maybe 15 minutes from the closing time, but not 50 mins! I am a party of one on a business trip and I'm just gonna have my dinner and leave, what a terrible attitude to show a customer!
I told him that it's fine, I will have eaten and left the place by the closing time. They sat me at a table. Then no waiter / waitress came for 10 minutes! I just sat there looking at my watch. Maybe they just wanted me to leave. Finally I had enough, and I left without saying anything. Their whole attitude since I entered felt like I was unwanted.
It's such a pity because it is a gorgeous restaurant with very nice visual details and ambiance inside.. But people who work in a place can truly make or break a place. In this case, it was the latter. read more
