In May I saw the owner of this tour, Miss Audrey Montgomery, tell her story on "My Ghost Story,…read moreCaught on Camera" for the Bio Channel. Since we were planning on visiting NOLA at the end of June, I wanted to find out if it was feasible for us to make a trip to her farm. It is about 90 minutes from NOLA and not only well worth it, but interesting as well. You will drive through some swamps and over THE longest bridge in the world, the bridge of Lake Ponchetrain.
Apparently there were supposed to be other people there that night but we ended up being the only ones and the two hour tour went closer to 3 1/2 hrs. It was truly one of the most interesting things I've ever done. If you come armed with an open mind, no hurry, lots of mosquito repellant, water, your walking shoes, a flashlight and plenty of cameras, video cameras and back up juice, you will have a hell of a good time.
Audrey and her boyfriend are just like the rest of the folks we met in NOLA, friendly, kind, hospitable and chatty. She starts the very informal tour with pictures of orbs and faces she's captured on previous outings and then starts the walking tour from one end of her farm to another. She will tell you the story of how she came to discover the orb activity on her farm and then will take you to places where although she doesn't guarantee orb activity, we caught plenty of them the night we were there.
Her boyfriend was very fortunate to catch many rodlike orbs and in one of my pics, there is a solid white one that looks like a UFO...but it's not.
And yes, I know that there are plenty of rational explanations for orbs but I choose to believe what I see with my own eyes and that night I was deeply impressed. At the end of the tour, you can buy the disc of all the pictures Audrey and her boyfriend took if your camera, like mine was throwing a fit.
There is an outside restroom and they are doing some major renovations on the grounds. If you are unable to walk well or stumble about as I do in the dark, you can ride in the back of the little golf cart if it's available and you may want to ask Audrey for that ahead of time. They also had a campfire going and told us that when it gets cold, they do hot chocolate, smores and hotdogs...cool right?
There is NO sign telling you where to turn off when you are looking for the house but if you go when it's still light, you can see it. Don't hesitate to call Audrey if you get lost, she is very patient. Btw, neither my husband nor I have one iota of psyhic ability so we felt nothing as we were walking around. But even though it is plenty dark out there, at no time did we ever feel in danger, creeped out or anything but amazement and fun.
The tix are super cheap so if you're happy, tip the guides, they're really nice folks. Now get in on this before the whole world finds out and you have to share your tour with a few dozen folks instead of having the guides all to yourself!!
