Who knew. We were in town riding the Katy Trail and stopped in for dinner and beers. What a great find and the Cuban food totally lived up to its tradition. It turns out that the owner is of Cuban decent so the food was amazing. My wife and I order the Cuban sandwich's and man were they great. We spend a lot of time in Florida and have tried a lot of Cuban food and this was just as good if not better. It's very fresh and the Cuban bread was fresh. Very nice find. read more

Booneville MO? Now that's one I just had to check out for myself. Have to say it's not the place I would think of to find authentic Cuban. I am a south Florida resident so am pretty experienced when it comes to the food and culture. For those that are on the fence about trying something outside their comfort zone this is it. The Lechon Asado ( Pork ) is on point. The Mojo marinade is just right and the meat melts in your mouth. Black beans are exceptionally good as are the other sides. Darn do I wish I would have ordered a side of Yuca. Wouldn't recommend that side if your first date unless you both cherish garlic but is one of my faves. Our server, CJ, was wonderful. She was extremely attentive to us, especially to our kids. It wasn't busy so she was able to chat and we found out the history of the store. She loves what she does and apparently has a good team. The kitchen is very attentive to food preferences and allergies. There are lots of gluten free options. This is a little way off of the interstate and totally worth the stop. Service was a little slow but was so friendly that it really didn't matter. Some dishes were sold out, a few desserts weren't available, but none of that mattered. It was obvious that this family owned restaurant was doing its best, which was more than enough. We had two starters and 4 entrees between us. All were amazing. The pineapple rum sauce for the apps and the bowls was the best. The pulled pork was perfect. Let's start by keeping it real! For context, I am Cuban American, grew up traveling to Habana as well as eating comida criolla my entire life! I would not be 100% honest if I did not communicate I was initially very skeptical of good Cuban food in Boonville. Damn, was I wrong!! The food was NOT good, it was spectacular, my husband & I literally devoured every morsel of food on our plates!! Tremenda cocinera!! ‍ Let's break it down! We ordered the lechón asado plate as well as the palomilla steak. The lechón is a serious labor of love as the owner conveyed how the lechón is cooked in "una caja China." IF, you never heard of that method of cooking - look it up as it's the ultimate way for sewing in the flavors & keeping the lechón tender. They NAILED IT!!!! Estaba muy sabroso ....rich in flavor & on point with the condiment profile. The palomilla was one of the best I have had in years!!! Thank you for not trenching the steak in lemon as most Cuban restaurants like to do. Not at Coco Loco, all of our meals were very well balanced- not too much cumin or bay leaves. The owner has her pulse on every spice in that kitchen! Kudos to you! The beans were sooo delicious I wanted to order more - they really did a great job on the beans! YUM!!! Dessert: We ordered "4 leches" (i believe that was the name) it was so different than the typical Cuban "tres leches" -- they gave it their own spin & boy did they hammer the taste! The coconut with the light cake & the strawberry with the whipped cream ... just over the top goooood!! Oh yea, can't forget the coconut, it gave it texture & truly catapulted the overall flavors. Ambiance: The front of house was friendly & personable. This place is fantastic! We stopped here for lunch while passing through. The exterior of the place is colorful and fun and you cannot miss it. For Christmas they had the place decorated nice and festive! Even a fun photos op on the back wall. I ordered the flank steak entree and tostones. The plate came with a good amount of food, including rice and beans. We also got the yuca fries. Our waitress was very attentive and kept checking on us. Great vibe! read more

I had lunch with a best friend and it was such a nice experience! First time having Cuban foods, so got the appetizer sampler and yuca fries to start. The mojo ranch and garlic aioli house sauce, so good with everything. Our entrees were mostly devoured! The ambience is okay but the service was terribly slow and they couldn't make a simple double espresso over ice. We were the first people here and the last to get our coffee. We literally only ordered coffee and customers who arrived 10 minutes after got their food and drinks before we ever got our coffee. Then our coffee arrived and it wasn't what we ordered! Really!? Drove to Boonville on a friends recommendation, who's visited there before. Knowing I'm from NJ/NYC where some of the best foods can be found. I was raised in a strong Cuban part of NJ, I know Cuban food! With that being said, Coco Loco has what it takes! I wasn't able to taste the whole menu, but what I did order i liked it. Lechon Asado with Black Beans and Rice. Plantains and of course a cafecito. It was good not the traditional lechon but good flavor. I took a Cuban Sandwich to-go. The sandwich was very good. The environment was great, inviting and comfortable. It has a welcoming feel and the colors and music was great. The smell and energy was spot on. The owner was doing table visits and talking to guests creating a great feel. I will be back to try more of the menu, and look forward to seeing them again. read more

I have been there at least 6 times. I love that their food is different from the other restaurants. It has been delicious every time. The staff is very cheerful and helpful. The bar drinks are different from other bars and the drinks are fun and good. You have got to see the paintings, even in the restrooms. Wow! Do not miss this great Cuban restaurant. Great flavors. I have never had Cuban food and did not know what to expect. I was afraid it was going to be spicy food but it was not. Very fresh and wonderful flavors. I had a shrimp kabob dish with yellow rice that was packed with wonderful citrus flavors (pineapple, orange). My friend had a skirt steak dish that was packed with flavor and came with yellow rice and black beans. We also had wonderful beef empanadas with a garlic aioli sauce that I could have drank from a glass, it was so wonderful! Finally for dessert we had key lime pie and coconut cream pie that were fabulous! We will definitely be back ! I have to add that our server "Trey" was wonderful and took such good care of us.
