Pretty sure I've seen it in Melbourne and Sydney but this is their first branch here. What sets Easyway apart from the established competition is the price and (formerly) the portions. They used to have a 'Mega' 1 Litre bubble tea for $6! 6$!!! That is amazing because my average order from gongcha would be around $5.50-$6.50 depending on how generous I was feeling. But they don't have it anymore....I'm so sad. Onto the tea itself. 90% of the time I'll get the fresh fruit teas with black or green tea because I'm not a fan of the fake dairy creamer they use. Also, lychee and grapefruit are my go to flavours. What I like about Easyway is that they balance the syrup and tea really well, usually better than Chatime or Gongcha. Chatime sometimes adds too much syrup and so does Gongcha. I can actually taste the slight bitterness in the tea (which I like), it works with the sweetness of the syrup. Maybe this is because I always get at least 50% sugar since it's difficult to drink a cup of syrup. The staff seem friendlier and are more generous with toppings which is always nice. Price also sets Easyway apart. Since I buy it so often this is the real big factor. It depends on the flavour you get, but it is in general cheaper than Gongcha and Chatime. Too bad the 1 L size is gone (I would have given 5 stars for that). FInally, I'm not disappointed with location but I really only get it when I'm at uni. Otherwise, it's not worth the walk from Chinatown. Also, it closes at 9pm when others open till 10-11 so that's anothing thing to keep in mind. No card either. GIve it a try if you can because in my opinion overall it is the better option!

Yes, I know, it is full of sugar and probably not the healthiest for you. But, I think it tastes better than any soft drink. However, I have never really been a fan of the milky bubble teas. I always go for the fruit tea kind. In fact, I generally order the same kind everywhere. Lychee iced tea. What I like about Gong Cha is that they offer Lychee Oolong Tea. Which tastes a lot better than other bubble tea places that offer lychee with black tea varieties. The Oolong version is a lot lighter and refreshing. Only thing I have found with Gong Cha is that the pearls are not as sweeter as other stores. Not sure why? They are not as big either. I really love it when the pearls are big, chewy and sweet. Oh well... The bonus is though that you can add diced lychee to the drink as well for extra flavour. That is really worth while.

Because they are simply - the best - when it comes to the bubble tea business. Let me tell you something. Bubble Tea should not be made from syrup. It is Tea. Not Syrupy nonsense. The pearls (tapoica starch balls) should be soft and somewhat gooey but still with bite. If it's firm, hard and chalky in the middle, spit them out. Yuck. Gongcha is the only place I know that does their pearls fairly close to how it is done in the bubble tea motherland - Taiwan. First time to Gongcha? No worries. Get their signature teas to start you off. Milk Foam anything is good. I personally adore Milk Foam Alishan Tea , Milk Foam Oolong Tea and Milk Foam Green Tea. That's half their signature tea selection already, whoops. They also mention that you can mix the milk foam into the tea. What a waste, don't do it! Alternate sipping between the milk foam and the tea and slipped gently into the milky foamy goodness that is Milk Foam from Gongcha. YUM. You can also ask them to lessen the sugar / ice etc. But I absolutely adore the fact that you can taste that they have brewed properly. It is mindblowing to have bubble tea that taste like tea. OHEMGEE. Can you tell I love Gongcha? Run - don't walk! And don't go back to other bubble tea places... save your money for the real deal at Gongcha!

They have some pretty interesting mixtures. The Black Bean Sesame Matcha is most intriguing. The store itself is very modern and unique. Worth a sit in if you have the time.

They have 135 crepes on the menu, which is why it is a good idea to include the menu number when ordering, as some of the names are quite similar. There are plastic displays and TV screens near the register showing just some of what they have to offer. The full menu all looks appetizing, with both sweet and savoury crepes available. I tried the prosciutto and cheese, thinking: "I like prosciutto, I like cheese. This will probably taste just like a pizza, right?" It didn't, but it wasn't half bad. Being prosciutto and cheese, the ingredients obviously blended together nicely, but the crepe itself had a sweet, fortune-cookie-like taste to it. Well it WAS a crepe after all. So all in all it was... Different. But don't get turned off just yet. I also tried a chocolate crepe with melted dark Hershey's chocolate and nutella. It was heavenly; I can't even begin to describe. To make matters worse for my gym seshes that week, it was topped with custard and strawberries. The seating arrangements are so cute, with colourful booths and tables filling the store. While it sort of feels like a daycare or the kids' section of a fast food chain, all those bright colours made me happy! So did the prices, ranging from $4-$7 for a crepe - nice.

Chatime has been around for a while in other states, but recently opened its first store in Rundle Mall. It has now opened another larger store on Grote St, with a seating area and an assortment of snacks and desserts. The first store is only a tiny bubble tea stand. Chatime offers a range of bubble tea flavours - lychee, mango, chocolate, strawberry, to name a few. It also has your basic Jasmine milk tea as well. Plus, since bananas don't cost a fortune any more, they also sell banana flavoured tea. The café itself is aesthetically pleasing with bright-coloured furniture and exterior. The staff are also polite. It's a nice place to relax when you're roaming the streets of Chinatown.

Locating itself right next to a dessert place that sells Crepe and ice cream is really for lack of a better term, the icing on the cake. A nice hang out spot in Chinatown, it sits along the main walking path and is pretty impossible to miss if you're passing by. The service at this Chatime is good, but some of the stafff don't have really great english so the best way to order is normally to point at the menu while you tell them what it is exactly that you want. When ordering bubble tea, the typical way of having it is with milk and pearls and jelly, though all of these are optional. You also have the option (for some drinks) to have it either hot or cold, which is not an option you would get anywhere else, except maybe in some restaurants that serve bubble tea. If you're ever in chinatown and are craving a sweet drink, swing by Chatime. If you're newbie, don't get freaked out by the menu. Ask the staff to recommend something and they'll usually help you out.
