Where did 70% of the inventory go? What about accessories, shoes, bags? What about the luxury items for a special event? Home accessories? Sale rack? It's so DRASTICALLY different...and NOT good. What a bummer. They should not have kept the name... Guess we'll all be saving a lot of money moving forward...

I was looking forward to see how they would put their spin on a classic boutique in Stone Harbor. They still have a Lilly selection, although it's so much smaller than it used to be. I loved seeing some Instagram favorite brands like Farm Rio and The Striped Sheep in the racks, but like a previous reviewer indicated, I was missing the usual volume of fun inventory, cute, whimsical things you would only be able to find at the shore. It felt more like the boutiques I encounter in Manhattan. I also missed the warmth toward the customers. Not a single associate interacted with my mother and I when we browsed, which was incredibly disappointing for two, loyal People People customers.

The prices for my budget are severely out of range. Stone Harbor caters to the wealthy, but there are some stores I can shop and enjoy really purchasing a few things here and there. I purchased a beautiful beaded cover up on clearance years ago that is so pretty I can wear it as a top with something underneath. On this trip I found 2 cute zipper super soft robes with fun seashore/summer prints. They are baby soft and have pockets. I sure couldn't argue with the price on clearance for 21$, not in a town that charges over 30$ for a stone harbor t shirt. Making Waves carries very pretty Stone Harbor T shirts for a mere 14$, in the past I've gotten some nice sweatshirts with "Stone Harbor" printed on a soft green fabric. When I was there this week, I have to agree with the other reviewer, the cashier wasn't terribly friendly. She had her back turned to me and was conducting a conversation with another employee. She reluctantly turned around to ring my purchase up. I almost felt as though they felt that they were doing me a favor by selling me 2 garments. Unfortunately on this last visit I would say that the customer service was lacking. May just be a "one off" as most of my experiences have been positive. The cashier and someone else (maybe the owner?) were bantering about another employee who apparently didn't know what they were doing - something about her first time "closing". Not very professional to me, complaining about another employee- ok- if she did a lousy job maybe talk about her behind her back off the sales floor? I would still go back because I like the selection. Whoever does the purchasing for this store has incredible taste! Excellent colors, beautiful ageless styles for all. The prices are good and not "museum" SH prices aka 200+ dollars for a dress or pair of pants- which is utter nonsense to this girl. The shea lotions last a while and they are smooth and luxurious. The scent combinations are inventive and uncommon. This time around I purchased a dead sea bar soap that had a deliciously masculine scent- hard to describe- like fragrant incense. I also went with the strawberries and cream shea butter- smells so authentic my mouth was watering. I also purchased grapefruit lemongrass, Beach, and Apricot fig shea lotions and the companion body scrubs. I only get here once a year and these products bring joy to my ordinary days. I purchased my daughter in law the dead sea soap, grapefruit lemongrass, and beach lavender bars as a gift. It's fun enjoying all the fragrances in the store.

This is a store for a discerning customer who appreciates fine things that can't be found elsewhere and is willing to pay for them. This shop has fine shoes, purses, accessories and clothing items for women. There are items for a younger demographic but the mature shopper will be very enticed by the items in the shop. The location of the shop is next to a long time Stone Harbor women's clothing store, Gingy's, Stephanie's, an upscale gift shop and the Happy Hunt, a locally themed beachwear shop. I especially enjoy the handmade soap from Blue Eden that Coastal FX sells. This is how that soap addiction started. "The Beach" handmade soap caught my senses and the rest is history. I've purchased jewelry and a mermaid ceramic dish along the way and was pleased with my purchase. I like this store because it's affordable in the Stone Harbor world of affluent Dr's and lawyers with their multimillion dollar homes. I think you'll enjoy the selection.

The bras I purchased last year, also on sale, have become my favorites so I was looking to add more. At this time of year all the jewelry is 50% off as are many other items. They carry some new fall and winter items as well as plenty of after season summer outfits, from mix and match from an Italian company, to mother/daughter bathing suits, short shorts and long trendy jeans. I visited California this summer and many of the items have a distinctly California coast vibe to them. One lady was shopping for a long dress and she looked good in at least two of the ones she modelled, all on sale for 50% off. Last year my mom purchased a number of the Italian one size outfits and was looking to add pieces to them, but the sizing this year was smaller than last year. The proprietor told us many people had trouble with the sizing this year which may account for why she had more left than one would want end of season. I find the items to be affordable for a bit higher end beach wear especially at off season. The proprietor knows her merchandise and is very helpful with questions about fit and quality. I know all of the items I purchased last year became wardrobe favorites, and I was slightly disappointed not to find the same number items I really wanted to take home. Never the less we may make one more stop before the week is out. I would say the clothing and accessories are mid priced for a beach town, different than you find in other stores, a bit beach trendy and would appeal to a mature buyer for some items and a younger buyer interested in California style beach wear. Let me say it is further up 3rd Ave than most of the shops so you can miss it, but there is convenient parking and worth a visit if you are shopping in the area.

Boutique at the Beach has some of the most adorable CA style clothing I have come across outside of CA. And the prices? They are extremely reasonable. I purchased 14 items on my first shopping trip there- I couldn't stop! I will definitely be a frequent customer and stop by often to make some additions to my wardrobe! Thanks for such a cute shop!
