If I were to review this place in 2 words ... okay, three actually ... it would be: "Expensive…read more Worth it!' Imagine a cheese store in a Hallmark Christmas village ... and there you have Wickford Cheese & Sundry. When you are buying a cheese which costs $50/lb. you want to taste it. No problems here! They have a lot of little cut samples of cheeses waiting for you to try. And if there is a cheese that doesn't have a sample ready, they'll gladly give you a piece to make up your mind. The selection is mind-boggling. Browsing through and tasting 9 different Goudas can make even the most fastidious cheese lover overwhelmed. Luckily, the owners are happy to make recommendations and bring you one step closer to cheese Xanadu. There are plenty of US, French, Italian and Spanish cheeses ... the only bummer about this place is that there are very few British cheeses to buy. Having lolived in the UK, I do tend to gravitate towards those. I think in the entire store they had maybe 2 - 3 British cheeses. Having said that, it's one of my favourite spots to visit and I usually walk away with a bag of interesting and fun picks for entertaining. You can ask them to pick out a perfect cheese plate for you and it's all set. They just ask how much you want and get it ready for you. They also have a few varieties of cured meats etc. for purchase and a couple to sample. Overall, this is a fun spot to visit and for cheese lovers, it will be an incredibly immersive and friendly experience. I won't knock Wholefoods because they actually have a great cheese section ... when staffed ... but this brings cheese tasting and bespoke experience to the next level. I very much encourage you to check this cute little shop out and will say that they also sell the best baguettes I've ever had outside of Paris.

Inside is small but they have different displays of variety of interesting cheese. They do offer tastings for many of their cheese from the usual cheese like cheddar and Gouda to aged and rare ones as well. They also offer water to cleanse your plate or if you are just thirsty from trying all the cheese We pretty much tried most of them and brought some to take home. The staffs were nice and helpful. Overall the place was good. Being able to try cheeses before buying is very nice and water is also nice to be offered on a hot day like when we went. It's probably the best cheese shop I've been in RI.

They are very happy to give you samples to compare and contrast. The shop also carries some cured meats and pates - I had a tasty local (NY state) pate de campagne - as well as other goods such as tableware, etc. for your next cheese and charcuterie shin-dig!

I had some soft rind runny types and I wanted a sharp and salty hard type. The Gouda Roomano was soooo delicious. Really makes me drool thinking about it. I also got a sample of tête de moine. The taste is really sharp and bitter. I opted not to buy it (you need a special contraption that's only used for that type of cheese). But when I got home I was craving it. Maybe next time I'll ask them to cut me a few curls and I'd buy it that way. This time I chose cheeses based on looks. I got the Guinness cheddar. It has a contrasting dark coloring with light colored cheese bits. It's reminded me of stained glass. Next I got the Gjetost. It's a Norwegian cheese that looks and tastes like caramel. Mind blowing! The Barely Buzzed cheese is coated with an espresso lavender powder. The lavender is undetectable to me. I also got a Purple Haze (in the refrigerator). It's a goat milk cheese with lavender and fennel pollen. Sounds interesting. I haven't tried it yet. But I spent a good part of the hour just cutting off tiny bits of all of the other cheeses and savoring them slowly. The fig cake above the cheese display caught my attention and I bought a slice of that for my lactose intolerant hubby. I got about a 1/4 pound slice for $3.84. Worth it!!

Eggs, dairy, meats are all less here. Quity canned goods and produce. They offer weekly sales on a variety of home goods and sell seasonal items. We definitely save money shopping at Aldi's. But any-who, this location is always very nicely stocked and I seem to find an employee on the floor whenever I need one whenever I have a question, which excites me. My sister is the one who put me on to Aldi, the prices are amazing and am able to stretch the money I have and get quality items, which makes me happy in this economy right now. They do charge for bags but I bring my own, so that's never an issue. I just hate having to bag my stuff since I do a full shop here but that's okay. The food items are of good quality, and they taste great. Honestly every since I started coming here I don't go to the other markets. This location does get packed really easily, but they open lines very quickly. As soon as they see lines starting to grow, they open registers and the employee scan very rapidly, it seems like a race and I am shocked at how quickly they scan and get you In and out. The atmosphere here is not bad, can get a hit chaotic but for the most part everyone is nice and courteous. Give this Aldi's a go it's a nice size as well and the produce always seems fresh!
