My mom and my wife both make the best pastry in the world (yes they both do) but these treats were crispy, flakey, light and oh so delicious. Ample fillings and top notch pastry combined to provide very satisfying snacks. Fantastic selection of muffins, breads, buns and baked goods with a warm, inviting staff that has an obvious love of their trade. Thanks for feeding us on our adventure.

We were walking and saw a huge line so we continued walking, and then came back and the line was still long! We wanted to get some pasties and coffee so waited patiently (about 10-12 mins) in line. They have such a huge collection of pies, tarts, sausage rolls, croissants, cookies, breads and cinnamon rolls, etc. We couldn't decide what to get and don't want to go crazy as we had bought pasties earlier on from elsewhere, so bought two different cinnamon buns and a latte. The poppy seed and cream cheese cinnamon buns were incredible! Latte was delicious! Haven tried the rhubarb and strawberry cinnamon bun yet but looking forward to it tomorrow! There are limited tables and seats inside but it's crowded. The staff are friendly and the regular locals are amazing! We had a chat with the lovely folks in the line and they were recommending what they love, which was pretty special! I'm giving five stars because they deserve it - their food, drinks and hospitality.

I came for some cinnamon rolls as they are reputed to be the best around. However, since I got here 15 minutes before they closed, the lady in front of me bought the last two cinnamon rolls and I was left wanting. The staff here is very cool and helpful. Maybe some other time I can try a cinnamon roll.

Indoor seating is very limited - 3 to 4 seats total, mostly outdoor, but the food is served in takeout format for that reason. We got the smores monkey bread, flat white, and breakfast sandwich on brioche. The brioche do sell out really fast - there was none available when we went and had to already wait for the next batch, so be ready to go right at 8am or expect to wait a bit to get your hands on the brioche. I'd recommend it as it's more special than a bagel or any of the surcharge options. The monkey bread is quite buttery with a generous amount of chocolate filling inside. It's a bit on the sweeter side so it is definitely worthwhile to share it. The flat white drink was pretty standard. The breakfast sandwich is good, nothing super extraordinary, but good price with a good amount of eggs and bacon

Lovely chocolate layer, perfect base, and a full, creamy not-too-sweet custard layer. We also tried their peanut crunch Nanaimo bar which was excellent, and almost better than the classic if you love peanut butter. Only disappointment was their "Flavor of the Month" Nanaimo bar, strawberry rhubarb. We're fans of rhubarb, but unfortunately, this one was just overly sweet with no discernible rhubarb or strawberry flavor. Bakery is located in a strip mall, so lots of parking available. Don't skip this bakery if you're doing the "Nanaimo Bar Crawl" - it's the best!

Perfect Small Town Bakery [Chemainus BC]…read more The community of Chemainus has this great little bakery. It was a 12-min drive from where we were staying in Crofton. We came here twice -- Sunday (unfortunately, they are closed on weekends). Business hours posted on their window are Mon-Fri 7:00a to 5:00p so we came back on a Tuesday afternoon. The different pastries in the display case looked so pretty and inviting... they even have egg rolls! I tried their Coffee Cake w/ Crumble Topping... not too sweet, just delightful. I also had the Apple Fritter... mmm, scrumptious warm apple fritter. I also bought a loaf of butter crust bread to take home (husband looked at me funny). Service was A+. Seating available inside and outside their store for those who enjoy sunshine. Delicious pastries at very reasonable prices. On our family trip, my wife a constant searcher for a good Scone and Baked Pastry, saw the sign for this place as we drove between Qualicum Beach and other sights to be seen. In that, we quickly looked them up, and saw they have been around for a long time (1995), and give ourselves a waypoint to stop on our drive back to our holiday rental. So when you drive up, you feel like you might be traveling to a farm house, which happens to be a bakery. The vibes definitely put you into that mood. On our occasion, it was a mild but warn day, and people were outside on their stone patio having baked good, so maybe we were in for a treat. Upon entering, you are in a small room, just enough for a few things on the side, then the case of goods, front of center. They were well stocked with lots of delights, and breads too. Sausage rolls, scones, cookies, bars, and cake slices. Today, we got a couple sausage rolls and a scone... and let's just say, each was proper delicious. That said, we were in the out, because as we stared ordering, a line of people started to show up, and we quickly paid and left. So is it worth coming, sure. Is it delicious, yes.
