The hotel became famous because of Mrs. Lacey's cooking.....of course history remembers this hotel as the site Sherman used as military headquarter during the Battle of Kennesaw.... The exact location is not certain even though apparently there are many theories.... The marker in located in front of the Kennesaw Veterans Memorial Park off of North Main Street in downtown historical Kennesaw.... The marker reads: Eastward across R. R. stood the 2-story frame hotel, leased by George M. Lacy in 1859 -- an eating house for passengers on the State-owned railway until June 9, 1864, at which time the Federal forces occupied Big Shanty. April 12, 1862, the Andrews Raiders [USA] seized the locomotive "General" while train crew & passengers were breakfasting at the hotel. Fortified by a stockade, it housed a Federal garrison from June 9 to Oct. 3, 1864, when it was recaptured by Confederate forces. Reoccupied by Federal troops it was maintained as a R. R. blockhouse until abandoned & burned by them, Nov. 14.

I've been doing some market research on how to start a business and the library is a one stop shop for all of my needs. The building is bright, airy, and spotless--with large windows that let in lots of natural light and plenty of comfy seating around . There's a great children's section with learning toys, a clean and welcoming teen/young adult room, plus a dedicated makerspace and a fully stocked computer training lab. I even brought my daughter and granddaughter here and they actually learned a lot and had fun. Plenty of study rooms--perfect for group work or meeting quietly--are available, and the outdoor plaza is a great spot for programs or just chilling with a book. Free Wi‑Fi, public computers, printing, scanning, and copier services make it super convenient whether you're a student, a freelancer, or just wanting to browse. What really stands out is the staff--they're welcoming, knowledgeable, and always ready to help. Shot out to Sarah, Alice, Alecia and the entire team over there. Whether you need tech assistance, program info, or a book recommendation, someone's there to answer your questions. I didn't feel intimidated at all when asking questions. Tons of parking outside. They also have a beautiful garden outside! I loved walking through it and seeing what they were growing (blueberries, sunflowers, jalapeños). They have tons of events going on here including a play cafe for toddlers on Tuesdays, Wednesday's and Thursday. We just moved to Georgia and couldn't wait to locate the closest library and sign up for library cards. The librarian who assisted us was wonderful! So so sweet and helpful. She even helped us get registered to vote. She explained all that we could do at the library and how many books (50) we could check out at a time. The kid's area of the library had a huge selection of fun books to choose from and also had an area of toys for my daughter to play with. I loved that they had a "chill out" room where you could nurse your baby, change a diaper, or have some quiet time if needed. Very cool. It's directly located across from North Cobb High School so I can imagine it might get busy during the school year once school lets out. 10/10 recommend this beautiful library.

Right in the heart of Marietta is this great venue, Cobb County Civic Center. It's not too large,…read moreit is wheelchair accessible, has an elevator inside, and parking is free. The entrance fee depends on the event that is going on. The parking lot is large so you can just park outside the venue and walk into the building. Through the years, I have attended, Gem Shows, International Festivals, Christmas Markets and Gun Shows. The venue is just right size for me, and not too large, so you do not have to wear yourself out by walking miles in a huge Exchibition Hall like the Omni in Atlanta. There are two levels inside. Sometimes the exhibitors are presenting their products in both stories. Other times, like the last Expo I attended had vendors only on the bottom floor. This is an older building but still well maintained and clean. There are restrooms upstairs and downstairs, you just have to look for them. Of course, how much you will enjoy the event you are attending depends on your interests and the organisors. I would highly recommend this place. There has always been Cobb County police present for security.

Sorry Judge Burke, I apologize for being such a slacker/procrastinator. My case was settled 3 weeks…read moreago from today(13 Dec'23), yet, I just now FINALLY got around to writing this review(3 Jan). I thank the Marietta court, but mainly Judge Burke since he was the Justice ruling over my case. I was singing in Glover Park the last week of August when I was cited for violating the noise ordinance code for the city of Marietta (10-6-050). My first date for the court was November 1st. I went and pleaded "nolo contendere", hoping for a dismissing of the charge, or, lesser punishment/fine. I believe I was treated well by the prosecutor, Mr Smith, but still felt I needed to try a little harder to erase the charge. After coming before Judge Burke last month, I WAS given a reduced charge, AND THE OPTION of community service to repay for my 'violation'. Most of all, what I'm trying to say here is that the #1, Judge, #2, court officers, and #3, the ladies at the windows were ALL very kind-hearted and helpful. Speaking directly about Judge Burke - he has a very non-threatening, fair disposition, listening to your whole story while carefully, righteously, looking out for you like a father would for his children. Therefore, without any ulterior motive in making my review/rating, I hereby proclaim Marietta Municipal Court FIVE Stars!

I attempted to file a habeas corpus and the clerk refused to file it stating i had to send it from…read morejail. Finally got it filed and then i was told i would need to wtite a letter to the clerk to confirm the court date . Did that Didnt hear anything. Then i called to follow up and was told i need to call to confirm the confirming of the date.(From jail) I got on a threeway call to then confirm . They then brought me the court the day before the actual confirmed date and conducted an exparte conversation on the case prior to me entering the court room. Only for the judge to tell the baliff to remove me from the court since i also filed a motion for mandamus . This was clearly tatical tricks and a violation of my rights as well as the clerk participating in this type of activity was against the oath of office they all have taken.
