I always go to Coast Hills in Orcutt to do my banking business. I must say that the tellers are all very friendly, professional and knowledgeable. When the line starts getting long it does not take long for other employees to assist. I recently went to the branch near Lowe's in Santa Maria because I was near there and did not have the same experience. The teller was very unfriendly and rude. read more

I went in to CoastHills in Orcutt today with a rather esoteric business issue. In short, Uncle Sam wanted something very specific, and they weren't able to auto-generate a form with the information required. The teller initially told me it wasn't possible, but I asked for a supervisor. I wouldn't have expected the teller to be able to solve it, of course. The only quibble is that they should have immediately referred me to a banker. I had the good fortune to work with Brigette who understood the issue, and literally typed out the required information by hand. I mean, this is not the kind of service you'll get at a larger bank. She actually apologized for taking too long. Despite the hassle, she was all smiles. And she solved my problem right there and then! Their tech and website isn't as good as a larger corporate bank with nearly unlimited resources, but their customer service makes it 100% worth it to bank with them. read more

I have been with Coast Hill Credit Union since the 1980's. They have always been helpful and a safe place to go to for my banking needs. I just did business with Samantha who works in deposits and money at the Orcutt branch and she was very helpful, professional and also friendly. Thanks so much Samantha great service read more

For the backstory, see my review for the Betteravia branch. I came here to the Orcutt branch and the difference was night and day. The CSR we got, Chantae, was absolutely amazing. She looked into our concerns and when she didn't have an answer for us at the moment, she said she would continue looking and give us a call. A couple hours later my husband and I were happy to hear from her. She explained everything so well. Not once did she make us feel dumb along the way. We truly feel supported at this branch. read more

I bank at CoastHills and it's been great, no complaints. It is never busy and they always handle my requests

I've been banking at Coast Hills for years and they've been everything you'd expect from a credit union. This review is for their mobile app, particularly for the part that let's you deposit a check by taking a picture of it with your phone. I've successfully deposited checks several times with this app. I take a picture, the app says looks good and then I get an email confirming my deposit, "Your deposit has been Approved." Well, on December 2nd, I did the same as I have in the past. Got the "Approved" email confirmation, etc., but then I received a letter in the regular mail, dated December 4th, saying my check was returned because the image was not clear enough. This is especially baffling since the app tells you when you take the picture if it's not clear enough and won't let you submit it for deposit until you retake the not-clear-enough photo. So I went into my local branch and was told, "Yeah, that's why the app tells you to hang onto the check for 45 days after submitting." I totally believe the teller that the app says this somewhere but I've never seen it and if I had I would have thought, "45 days! Hmm, sounds like they have low confidence in their app . . ." By the way, the teller was a total professional throughout, not his fault the app is lame, he didn't blame shift at all, just stood there and took it. So, if the software can eventually figure out that the image isn't clear enough why can't they tell you a bit earlier in the process? Of course I already shredded the check . . . after all, I did get an "Approved" email. Or, at least they could send you an email that says, "Your deposit has probably been approved but don't shred that check for another 45 days, I mean, it'll probably be OK and all, just sayin'." Lame. Lame. Lame. read more

There are closer branches to where I live, but I travel the extra distance because the Orcutt branch makes me feel like family. Russ Rowe Proud member since 1976 read more

I've personally seen a huge improvement with this branch. I'm not happy with Coast Hills as a bank but if I need anything, I physically go into this branch since they are more friendly and when I go, it's never busy. read more

This C U is totally inept! Supposedly a member of NCUA but can't even accept a deposit for another C U. We've tried to make deposits here before and after much fumbling around, they finally have gotten it done but each time they have to try to figure out what to do. We also needed notary services, which are free at our home C U, for which we were charged $60.00 for six signatures at this C U. We had considered opening an account here, but this C U definitely does not provide the level of service we've come to expect from a credit union. They're no better than a lousy bank. read more

Can be frustrating to bank at this branch though the problem is prevalent at others as well, I think it is pretty much an inherent one for the credit union and a good reason I plan on closing my accounts. Customer service lacks, frequent long lines with only one or a few tellers. The bankers usually sit at their desks and just stare at their computers and don't get up to help when the lines start growing. I just left the branch after standing in a line almost out the door and two tellers for almost 30 minutes. One lady was sitting at her desk more interested in mixing her tea than offering to help. All of the executives were uninterested and didn't even answer phones which caused the tellers to be even slower. I always dread going in, they slow and seem quite happy to be so. Not a bank for me read more

Do NOT bank with them. I have had nothing but problems with this Credit Union which is sad because I have great experiences with Credit Unions in the past.Customer Service is terrible the branch managers are no better, they will turn their problem around and make it your fault. You can't call the branches as they don't have a direct line, the phone will just rings and rings. You can only reach the main branch in Lompoc. I have closed my acct and have gone banking with Rabobank and they are great. read more

They are not as local as they seem! Severely understaffed, both in the bank (well, if you don't count the people who stand around and watch the line grow longer) and when you call their Lompoc number aka "Headquarters". The credit card customer service is outsourced, no one there was born speaking English. And its just a run around. Every.Single.Time. They lure you in with low auto loan rates, then you are in their Bermuda Triangle of inadequacy and cluster ___'s ! read more
