I had a sleep study with Coastal Sleep Lab on 6/19/19. They were as professional and friendly as I ever could have hoped them to be. The facility was clean and comfortable. My technician, Denise was wonderful to me and very helpful. She also made sure that I was comfortable and answered all of my questions about what to expect, etc. I called for some follow up information and spoke with Matt, the head of the lab. I've read the previous reviews posted and I just have to say, my sleep study and ENTIRE experience was OUTSTANDING. The overnight visit was monitored by Heather. She was friendly and informed me on everything to expect during the night. She told me the results could take 7-10 days and they did. I emailed a few questions I had and within a few hours, the Manager Matt called to talk to me about my questions and concerns. He was professional and explained everything. (Hey Matt!! Ignore the other reviews. I think your a RockStar). So, here's what I have to say, the bed mattress was hard, I experienced rear end and hip discomfort. Sleeping on my back or side is hard for me...I'm a belly sleeper. Let's get some softer bedding in here! Bring your own pillow too!!! The hotel pillow sucked too...but the phone call from Matt really sealed my review. I'm 100% recommending this Sleep Lab for ANYONE that needs a study. Heather was great and did a fantastic job too, but Matt got me sold. I HATE doctors and "we don't know what's wrong with you" diagnosis and prescription after prescription without results. If I could give this sleep lab a zero I would, completely rude staff and gave my mom a hard time. Then a MAN proceeded to take all equipment off of me (a minor) with out my mom in the room (completely illegal). So would not recommend to anyone. read more

Place to avoid! Can not recommend for a "sleep" study. The room was dirty with dark brown water stains on the ceiling and water stains on the wall from a leaky roof. The room smelled like mold as did the bedding. When I turned down the covers to get into bed, there was hair on the sheet. The very worst of it was the inability to sleep because of the thin walls. I heard talking and laughing at 1030 PM in spite of being told that all would be quiet and the study would start by 10 PM. After 11 PM all I could hear was loud snoring from more then one location. One of the most horrible night's sleep ever and that is what my "sleep" study will be taken from. read more

Run away, your loved one will NEVER get a cpap machine from this crew. Took FOREVER to even get an appt and then took FOREVER to find out results of sleep study and we STILL don't have a new cpap machine. My husband has been duct taping his old cpap for months waiting on this sleep lab to finish their job. They never return calls. It is a disaster. read more

I scheduled an appointment roughly about a month ago but what I did not do was check the reviews. Due to recent illness and hospitalization I needed to cancel my appointment and did so via automated messages. On the night of the appointment I received a call saying I missed my appointment, I advised them that it had been cancelled days ago. At 8:30am this morning I received another call from them and a voicemail stating that I would be charged a $250 cancellation fee if I didn't reschedule. I called them back today around noon and advised them it was a mistake on their part and that I had canceled the appointment and would not be rescheduling. After numerous times being put on hold I was transferred to the manager named Matt without warning. I explained the same to Matt and that's when it went off the rails! Had I looked at the reviews as I do now,I see Matt's name reoccurring in previous reviews all of which were hostile encounters. When I told Matt I cancelled the appointment in advance and would not be paying a $250 fee he replied with "they didn't get the cancellation". To which I replied, "that is not my problem. I don't pay for that service, you do. If the service failed it lies solely on your company." Matt on the other hand, FLIPPED out, yelling at me and speaking to me in a way I've never been spoken to before by ANYONE!! He continued to yell and talk over me and refused to listen to anything I said. As he continued he then accused ME of being the one who was being rude. I was calm, firm and to the point to which he continued to make threats, fail to answer questions and basically hold my financial issue with them hostage. He is LITERALLY a terrorist and has NO business working in or around healthcare. I CANNOT believe he has a job there after the reviews I've seen and my own personal experience. My advice is DO NOT BOOK AN APPOINTMENT WITH THIS LAB!! They are rude and they never disclosed the cancellation fee to me in advance or else I would've never scheduled the appointment with them. Clearly sales is all that matters to Matt as he continued to find a ways to get my business, even after making additional threats and telling me he could make this "go away" or "make it worse" on me. I also advised him that my insurance was getting ready to be cancelled, didn't matter, he still wanted my money. After the fact, I tried to explain to him how rude it is for him to speak to me that way and that even if I had been cussing or belligerent that he could not respond in the same manner. Again, more yelling and more threats made by Matt. He was like a rabid animal latching onto to something and refusing to let go. I am LITERALLY blown away by this incident and the stress alone it has caused me. It sounds like this place needs to rid themselves of this toxic person and start over. He has terrorized enough people! Additionally when asking for Matt's boss he kept saying "I am the boss! I am the boss!" to which I stated "no Matt, everyone answers to someone" and he just kept saying he was the boss and never answered my question. It's ok Matt, WE THE PATIENTS will find out who your boss is and make sure he knows what a rude, inconsiderate, threat making tyrant you really are and demand you be fired!! read more

Had my sleep test back on May 16th. It's almost 2 months and still no results. Incompetence on serving patients. Waste of time and money.

We are snowbirds and love spending the winters in myrtle beach sc. Last year after leaving our home my husbands cpap machine broke. He had to have a new sleep study done and Coastal Sleep Lab was recommended.. Not only did we not get the results of the 2 tests when promised. We overpaid the Sleep Lab and have been trying unsuccessfully to get our moneys returned to us since April 2018. We promptly paid our bill in January and now Matt from the Sleep Lab has come up with more excuses. Such as they already cut the checks this month, wait till next month. Next month he's not in and doesn't return my call. Then he'll call me when they cut the check., never heard from him. This month I have called twice with my medical provider and still no check. I would never recommend this group to anyone. read more

I had an appt for a new sleep study. It had been 5.5 years since my last and insurance required I do another sleep study prior to authorizing a new cpap machine. Inconvenient but understandable. When the office called to book the appt they had me down for something other than why I was supposed to he there. I wrote it off as miscommunication along the way but no big deal. I called a week before my study to ask about bringing my own pillows and again they had me down for something other than my original purpose. Got it squared away again. I showed up on time Heather was pleasant. Doug the tech wasn't unpleasant but you definatly knew he wished he was somewhere else. Once I was plugged in Doug said if I had any problems etc just speak up and someone would be right in. The problem that I was forced to not complete my sleep study was the "bed". It had a 3" mattress and was on a industrial steel hospital frame. I tried my best to sleep but concrete with a 1/2" foam pad would have been better. I called Doug several times and had gotten no reply. Once I pulled 2 of the plugs off Heather came in. I tried to explain to Doug what the issue was with the hope that there was an alternative or something and his only reply was "okay". Test was over. Heather asked me to sign two forms. "Just sign it and I'll fill out the rest". Umm "no thank you I'd like to read it". one form stated that I was "refusing to complete the study". I did refuse to sign but only because I was UNABLE to complete the study specifically because if the horrible bed they had not because I chose to complete the study. I honestly didn't want to believe the bad reviews. I went there with an open mind but sadly, I experienced all the things mentioned in the previous bad reviews. The room was clean but the bed was extremely uncomfortable, which kinda sucks when you've got 30 things attached to you making it hard to get comfortable to start with. The main reason I wouldn't recommend this facility though was the technician I worked with. He wasn't outwardly unfriendly but he wasn't professional at all. He complained about his problems, his personal problems - not work related - was very impatient if I didn't understand exactly what I was supposed to do when he was "hooking me up" or took too long to do it. Very abrupt in the way he spoke. We come there because we can't sleep. Is it any wonder we are a little slow cognitively??? All in all he seemed like he didn't want to do his job. I wonder if he realized the impact he has on people? I didn't feel welcome there at all. More of a nuisance to him. If I do have to have a repeat study I will ask for a different facility. read more

These folks did a decent job with the clinical portion of my sleep analysis, but the business part is a real problem. in 2012, my account went 90 days while I was waiting to make sure my insurance had done all they would do. At that point the bill went to collection. I immediately paid the balance. I have no problem that the bill went to collection at the 90 day mark, but the problem is that after three years it is still on my credit report as an open account, although I have a statement from their billing company saying the bill has been paid in full since 2012. I have talked to the credit-reporting agencies and they say it is the billing company. The billing company says I am paid in full and it is Coastal Sleep lab. I have talked to the business manager at CSL on no less than 6 or 7 occasions and he always says he will work on it an get back with me. He has NEVER called me back and refuses to see me when I go to the office. So, this is the only negative mark on my credit record and it popped up again this week. I take the paid statement around with me to prove that the account is paid in full, but the total lack or business professionalism on the part of CSL would ensure that I would NEVER use them again, nor would I recommend them to anyone. read more
