My sons have been patients of Coastal Peds for 15 years. The doctors that we have loved over the years have retired or moved on. With the loss of these doctors, this practice has steadily declined over the years. thankfully as my kids get older, the less we need a doctor. Today, I needed to schedule a follow up appt for my son who was in a major car accident. When calling there have been over 30 callers ahead of us so we have waited only to be disconnected after waiting for 30 minutes each time. This has happened 4 times now and I am currently still on hold waiting for the 5th time with 19 callers ahead of me. I have wasted over 2 hours trying desperately to make an appt with our doctor and still can't get through to anyone online or on the phone. This has been unbelievable for a doctors office. I am currently shopping for a new doctor for my children. read more

For the most part the care here is good: I feel like the nurses are great but sometimes the doctor partners are cycled through since it's pretty busy all of the time, some doctors are better than others. Some are a little less personable and seem very cold and just not much of caring for my little toddler. But we have also had some great ones, I really just depends. Usually the wait time isn't that bad either which is good since waiting with a sick toddler is no fun. Overall the 4 years we've been here care has been pretty recommended! read more

Our care at Coastal Pediatrics has steadily declined over the years. Dr.Varner at Coastal Pediatrics in Mt.Pleasant ignored my concerns about my son's illness and sent us home after doing the bare minimum of an exam and no further testing. We ended up at urgent care that evening and my son ended up testing positive for both strep throat and mono. I would not recommend this office, they ignored my concerns and missed 2 diagnoses. We are now switching pediatricians for good. read more

This is a wonderful office, full of very caring staff. A few years ago we moved away to California, and I was so sad to loose CPA as my daughter's Doctor's office. Now that we have moved back, I am happy to say that they have not changed a bit. Dr. Graham still make me feel like we are the ONLY people in the building when he walks into the exam room. He takes his time and explains everything to my daughter and puts her (and myself) at ease with everything from "open up and say AAAHHH", to "Yes, your flu shot will sting a bit, but it'll only take a second or two, then its all over!" We arrived at the Mt Pleasant location today. The woman at the front desk was so rude. I was pleasant and said good morning. I have never seen anything like it. She actually glared at me and handed me the clip board. Didn't say hello. very very rude. I would recommend not going to this doctors office. It was such an unpleasant experience and there are so many pediatricians in the Mt Pleasant area. Her name is TEE. Not like Tea. It's TEE. Wow was she cranky. Checked-in in here so many times, I just had earned badge "Duchess". My little boy get sick too fast! He's catching every virus! :( Good part we like all doctors here, And yes we met them many. They give professional care, And help my little baby! My kid is toddler-2 years old. Repeats a lot, tries speaking. When he heard doctor "loooooollipops" He started happy screaming! It's very nice and simple touch To keep all babies happy! Keep lollipops and stickers jars, Right on reception table. Check-in with nurse, is very quick. Wait in the room, they'll call you. There are cartoons and games and books Will keep kids busy for you. I have to say, there were a few times, We waited for an hour! It happened only once or twice, I wasn't happy either! But last time there for my surprise, We didn't wait five minutes! I just sat down, they called us. They are improving really! Of course I strongly recommend! They do provide good service! We were able to get an appointment this past Saturday with Dr. Garcia at Coastal Pediatric Associates in Mt. Pleasant. We didn't have to wait long before being seen once we arrived. A nurse took our daughters vitals and documented issues she was having; then Dr. Garcia came in and was great with our daughter. We were able to have him call in a prescription to help her out. We are very lucky that Coastal Pediatrics has so many offices over town; this is the 3rd one that I've been to and all have been great to my daughter and family. read more

A Nurse Practitioner in the Mt. P office was seen for a flu illness. This woman is the most judgmental, passive aggressive person my child and I have come into contact with in the pediatrics field. If you are hesitant about Covid or flu shots this year because you've done some actual observing & have 1000 concerns, I highly recommended avoiding any and all contact with this nurse. THEIR JOB, is not to guilt parents and make them feel they've not done their job adequately as parents. The death stare and curt answers were not appreciated in the least. Thankfully, We have a wonderful doctor in the West Ashley location who **listens** to our concerns about 2022 vaccines, respects our position & our many questions. Unfortunately we were pressed to get an appt so were forced to come to Mt P. to see this nurse. Incredibly disheartening to know people like this, actual robots with their opinions plastered to their face are at the ready to cast judgment on those that did not fall in lock step with their belies. Our kids deserve better. I've never had this kind of experience before, CP has treated us well. THIS nurse should find another field where she can express her opinions to the wind. We aren't always in the area and she has the amazing ability to pick back up right where she left off. Their front office is always so polite and accommodating and so are the nurses. By far the worst office ever! Please find a different location or a NEW Pediactrics for your child/children. We arrived 5 mins prior to our appointment at 1:45, on a Saturday for a well visit. We sat for at least 30 mins before I checked with a nurse on a timeframe (2:15), 10 more minute past by (2:25) still no nurse. We've had dental appointments, hair appointment all morning, and another scheduled appointment at 3. To have us wait that long for a well visit was disgusting, so we decided to leave! As we were walking out, the Dr. stated she was "just about to come in". I value my time and will not be returning to this office. We have also been waiting for 1 week for an eye exam referral, the referral has been sent to physicians that are not even in our network, and the problem has been yet resolved, as my child has trouble with his vision and we still are getting the run around. I've been coming here for two years with my son. I really like everyone here and they have all been wonderful. However the waiting time is absolutely ridiculous! We are expecting our first child in January and our OB suggested Coastal Peds as our primary doctor for Charlotte. I like that they have several locations around Charleston so if we are ever in a bind there will probably be one close by. We visited the office in Mount Pleasant. The staff were very welcoming and helpful. We did not wait long before they called us in to speak with out potential doctor Dr. Abel. When we met with Dr. Abel she was so sweet and caring. She gave us a lot of comforting information and answered all of our questions. She informed us about the breastfeeding we could use for our first few appointments after our daughter is born which I thought was very helpful. I really like that they block out certain hours just for emergency appointments or last minute appointments. Cold and flu doesn't schedule a good time to show up so it is nice to know that they are available if necessary. I really like they hours. They stay later than most offices and are open on the weekends. Its nice to have the option of seeing your doctor is something is wrong especially if it helps avoid that costly hospital bill. I feel very confident and comfortable with Coast Pediatrics and Dr. Abel. read more

This is a chain of pediatric offices. Chains are typically focused on making money. They might push products on you that you don't need and let you sort it out with insurance. Anytime you try and call to address an issue or ask a question you are not going to speak with anyone at your local pediatric office but instead be routed to a "central business location". Good luck calling and reaching a nurse or doctor you dealt with in the past. This place will make you miss your old pediatrician where they picked up the phone and the people actually remembered you. We have been going to this office for a few years now and I love the doctors. However, in the last two years the waiting times have been increasingly long. For well visits or sick visits I find myself waiting for over an hour just to get called back to then wait for another 30 minutes or so. We have also had a couple of situations where we needed paperwork sent somewhere and were given a one to three business day window for it to be complete only for it to take an additional couple of days. The last time this happened, the individual I spoke to on the phone was incredibly rude. They have also failed to call in prescriptions twice now. When I have asked why the waiting times have been so long, I am told that they are understaffed. Again, while I do like the physicians, I cannot go to a place that is so incredibly inconsiderate of my time. read more

We were so happy to find Dr. Striping and associates. We're new to the area, and my son was very concerned about having to find a new doctor. The nurses were very outgoing and great as Pediatric nurses. Dr. Stripling took his time with us, was very nice and put my son at ease. Here is what I experienced yesterday with my son's appointment with Dr. O'Malley. There was a hostage and active shooter situation on King Street near my son's school, which had streets closed and created a huge traffic jam. I called the doctor's office to let them know we would be a little late because of it. The reception said that they'd heard about the police situation and that we had a 15-minute grace period. So I raced through traffic to get him amid the chaos downtown, hurried through traffic and a torrential downpour on 17 to get to the office. My son and I raced inside, now soaking wet and stressed out, and arrived for a 3:30 appointment at 3:53, eight minutes after the grace period ended. The receptionist said it was fine, there weren't many people in back, and that we should be the next people called back. We sat down. A few minutes later, she calls us back up to the front desk and says that the doctor would not see my son because we were late and would need to reschedule. We were standing there, soaking wet, stressed out from the hostage situation and told we they had appointments during the school day or at 7:15 a.m. the next morning, which would make my son late to school and require me to take off work. I had to tell the receptionist that I would call back because I was so angry but didn't want to be rude to her. But how many times have I sat in the office waiting on a doctor who was late seeing one of my children by far more than eight or even twenty minutes? And after everything we had gone through to get to the office, to be standing right there, and to be told to come back because we'd missed the window by eight minutes? That is how much this pediatrician cared about the well-being of my child and me. read more

Incredibly disappointed you can't reach anyone at the office directly ever. It doesn't matter what time of the day, all the phones go to a center which routes them. You have a baby with an issue, prepare to wait for a call back. It is really sad because the staff and MD are exceptional. They should really rethink this outsourcing. read more

Dr. Alberg has been my son's primary care physician for some time, today we were running late due to traffic on the interstate and out of courtesy I called to inform them that we were running late; the staff was very rude. When we finally arrived, we're courtly told that our appointment was no longer available and that we would have to reschedule. Why is okay for we as patients to sit in the doctor's for two hours waiting on the physician but as a patient if running 30 minutes and with a courtesy call we have to reschedule? And to top it off, the receptionist asked how I'd like to pay for the missed appointment? read more

We just went here yesterday. Waited and hour and 10 minutes to be seen. Talked to the nurse, I think and she said the folks that own the practice really care about their patients...hmmmmm, ok. When do you realize your behind and it becomes your obligation to customers to let the receptionist know so they can give people in the waiting room the option to stay or reschedule? This is an enabled culture in the medical field that is completely unacceptable. This is the second time this has happened and I'm just over it. We are vacationing and my son was running a fever and complaining of ear pain. I got an appointment at the James Island location this morning and we were in and out within an hour! The staff was wonderful and we are so thankful for them and the Plantation Pharmacy-who filled the prescription within 5 minutes-next to them. Thank you all! God Bless you. read more
