We've been coming here since I had my daughter 3 years ago, and we love it! We've been with Dr. Kim for the last few years, but now she is leaving the practice so we're switching to Dr. Kornu. Both of them have been fantastic. They are great with kids. The office staff is great too - very friendly and responsive. I like that there are separate sick and well waiting areas so you don't have to worry about the spread of germs. Another nice feature of Coastal Kids is that they have a whole network across Orange County. Once when my daughter was sick and we needed a same-day appointment, the Irvine office didn't have availability but the Fountain Valley office did. I was thankful that we had backup options so my daughter could be seen right away. They also offer Saturday appointments in the Newport location for sick visits, and they have an after-hours nurse line if you have a concern at night or on the weekends. read more

We have been going to coastal kids for about 7 years now and have always received great care and service until today. I called in to ask about a referral we needed for my son for an ENT, we never received word of the approval so I called. I let Jessica at the Irvine booth know we never received a call, but she said the office had called back in March. I let her know we didn't receive a call and I called the ENT who we were referred to (I called the day before to get the info) and they never received the referral. I asked to submit again if possible and if we can get a call. Her response was "didn't you hear what said? We called you last time" I am now having to follow up with the ENT on my own read more

We loved Coastal Kids when my kids were born but after a shady billing incident at the other location, we hopped over to this location. It seems more quiet and a little run down but the staff is nice. They are patient when the littles seem to need more time to settle. Be careful filling out surveys as they charge you additional (it is optional). read more

I've been taking my 2 kids now teens to Coastal Kids, specifically Dr. Bui for over 10 years now. The staff at this location are friendly, and professional. The space is clean and well marked for sick kids side vs well lid which as a mom with a kiddo with a heart defect keeping away from those are sick is a must. Dr.Bui is kind, and has gentle approach and she will follow up with a call when labs are done to give a brief overview. My kids feel comfortable and really like her. read more

Ever since Coastal Kids was bought out by a private equity firm, the quality of care has gone down tremendously. It is impossible to get an appointment with your provider and all they care about is profit. The office staff is incompetent and could not get my son a prescription through to his insurance for months... when we went to a different pediatric practice, they had it done within one week. It's a shame because we spent so many years with this practice but when all of the doctors and office staff leave, you know something is going on. Just notice how NONE of the highly praised doctors are still with this practice- it's honestly a shame. read more

Coastal kid keeps adding new branches but they don't want to hire more medical assistants for $20/hr to answer phone calls. I just wanted to come here to say that my son is now 2 years old and we are so pleased with our experiences here at Coastal Kids! We love Dr. Kim and Dr. Kornu! They give such personalized care and have gone above and beyond for us on several occasions! While appointments with MDs can be difficult to get if not planned ahead, the NPs are amazing! I am a registered nurse (RN) and have worked both in a hospital and outpatient setting and know exactly what good care is- and Costal Kids provides excellent care for their patients. Update: Tuesday I called to make an appointment for my son. They scheduled me then called back to say the doctor called out. She wanted to move me to another location. First Fountain Valley which isn't near Irvine. She then offered the other Irvine location. I declined both. After speaking with the manager she said she would call me if there was a cancellation which she didn't. She tried to get me in a time where I told her I wasn't available. I called throughout the day and caught a late afternoon appointment. Weeks prior, I had requested one through their portal, which no one seems to monitor because no one ever followed up. Today I spoke with someone at the front desk to ask if my son's test results were in. Long story short she said a Dr will call me later with the results. She ended the call with uh huh then hung up. Apparently they aren't required to say goodbye. Since my children's doctor is leaving the practice, we will do the same. It's sad after over 14 years. They don't care about customer service. Once you check in, they'll say hi you have a balance. They seem to be more concerned with money than being kind. read more

I'll be switching dr to find a quality care, not just one of their numbers. We've been going here for a little over 3 yrs and I can't accept their lack of care any longer. It's insane to get an appt here. Always 20-30 min hold before anyone answers. Never able to see their primary dr for their sick visits. Every time we had to see a new provider at a different locations. One of the dr we saw suggested that we follow up with our primary dr but she was not available. I would think if one of their own doctors think we need to see our primary, they would try to work it out but never. They never follow up. I've called to speak with one of the provider, my sick child couldn't keep anything down after seeing 2 different drs at their offices (2 different days), no one called back. I'm fed up and should've switched a long time ago. read more

The service at this office has gone down tremendously with wait times up to 20-30mins just to schedule a wellness appointment. They are growing and opening offices everywhere but cannot even upkeep the service the families truly need. I love my pediatrician and did not want to switch but since we can't even get an opportunity to see her we are definitely moving away from Coastal Kids. read more

All the 1-Star reviews are true. I used to love Coastal Kids and both kids were born with Dr. Bui as our pediatrician at Hoag. We still love Dr. Bui and the only reason why we haven't left, but it's difficult to see her unless you make appt weeks ahead of time which is unlikely when kids get sick all the time! They expanded way too quickly and have not been able to keep up to provide the quality level of care to their patients like they used to. Phone lines are always busy, and impossible to see a doctor for sick kids on the same day or have to drive very far. Only NP or PA available for last minute appointments and I've found that they do not provide the same level of care. Also found billing issues with inconsistent charges and weekend charges that were not notified ahead of time. I hope they will improve and find solutions for all these issues instead of being a money grab for worried parents. read more

Well. 7 months and same shady practices from this group. Against my better judgment, my wife who is too nice decided to give them another chance. Lo and behold. Same shady billing practices. According to the insurance, they are in network id they billed it correctly through the facility, but because they billed it by the individual provider(1/2 or which are in network 1/2 aren't). Shady shady shady Insurance company has confirmed they are notorious for this. read more

Dr. Kim is great, but the front desk staff is terrible to the point I absolutely hate having to deal with them. Their incompetence is beyond frustrating. The inability to problem solve and provide basic options when it comes to scheduling makes them not qualified to work the front desk. I understand appointments get booked quickly, but when I have to repeatedly ask "when is the next first available appointment?" only to get answers that do not answer my question makes me doubt if this office is a good fit for us. read more

We have had an amazing experience with Coastal Kids Irvine! Our pediatrician is Dr Bui. She is truly an amazing physician that we feel blessed to have taking care of our baby. Some examples of how phenomenal Dr Bui is: she called us on Christmas eve with lab results that required our son to be admitted to the hospital, she returns our emails into the evening. Dr Bui is overall very caring, knowledgeable, and personable! We wholeheartedly trust that Dr Bui will continue to provide excellent medical care for our baby. read more

I switched to this practice after I was seen by Dr. Kim at Hoag hospital after giving birth to my baby girl. It's been about 7 months and I am glad that I found this practice; quick at answering questions, all staff are very nice and professional. Dr. Kim and NP. We've never had a bad experience with Coastal Kids, and my children are 6 and 8 years old now. We started coming here when our firstborn was 2. We've never had an issue setting well check appointments, flu shots, vaccines, etc. They have two entrances - one for sick kids, and one for healthy kids. And their waiting area is warm and inviting with flat screen TV's to keep the kids occupied while they wait. Our main pediatrician is Dr. Kornu, who is only available on Tuesdays and Thursdays. She's always been wonderful with my children - very attentive, kind, patient, and thorough. You will be in good hands with her! read more

I am so happy we are with Coastal kids. The pediatricians are true professionals yet welcoming and supportive. I like that the practice also has multiple locations - we changed a few daycares over the years and it has been convenient we can still have flexibility in choosing a location. Moreover we've also needed physician's report multiple times for that same reason. We had to problem asking to get that filled out. And my favorite - we didn't even have to go physically to pick it up as we asked for pdf versions. What's not to like? I highly recommend. read more

This chain of pediatric offices used to be owned and run by a different doctor who is no longer there. The quality of care has gone down drastically. We've tried to stick it out for several years but can't look past the issues any longer... I have extensive experience in billing and have not received an accurate medical bill from them in years always requiring that I call and have it corrected. I have a series of emails from them specifically about how their billing system has a defect that is causing blue shield payers to get ripped off badly. I had my third kid 2 days ago and they refused to see her unless I change my medical group from 'Hoag medical group' to 'Hoag physicians partners' even though my other kids have the same insurance, and when I offered to pay cash instead they refused because they are aware I have insurance. We found out the old doctor has a new office chain called Ocean Pediatrics and will be switching immediately. Good luck everyone and double check your bills. read more

Absolutely fed up with this pediatricians. The doctors and nurses are fantastic! But the administration is terrible. Twice now ive tried to make an appointment, sat on hold for ages, then left my number per their instructions to call me back and no one ever has. Literally can't make an appointment! Same thing recently when i had to cancel an appointment-i called and called and called, maybe 5-6 times? No one ever answered. Coastal Kids - sort this mess out! We're on the brink of going elsewhere and it seems from yelp and other comments in other places we're not the only ones. read more

Coastal kids is horrible!!! Dont take your kids there, I was seeing Dr Khorashadi and a few other doctors, they are all horrible. Khorashadi said that my daughter has reflux without a full examination then after having strict diet, my daughter issue did not resolve and I told her how about giving her formula? She was like google some formula names!!!! Without even introducing some to me or giving me any sample! Anyway I had to switch to formula but my daughter issue did not resolve and I went through a horrible depression because of all those issues. My supply ended and my daughter was not breasfeeded anymore! I feel really bad for my daughter and Khorashadi is the main reason that my daughter did not have her mum milk. I honestly hate this provider. I saw two other doctors there and they are not knowledgable at all. I know switched to Dr Iravani in Costa Mesa and I loveeeee her! read more

We have been attending Coastal Kids for 2 years now, both my children see Dr Kim and she is amazing. Also, the nurse practitioners are always so positive and treat my children with such kindness and care. I book all my appointments with Dr Kim in advance for well visits so I don't have any issues with availability. For last minute sick visits, it will be difficult to get your doctor of choice as they can be booked out however it is generally easy to get an appointment with another doctor at this location or another Coastal Kids location. All the doctors are experts and that's all you really need when a child is sick. Also, they make great notations on their computer system and Dr Kim is aware of any illnesses my children may have had between appts with her. I strongly recommend Coastal Kids, everyone there will treat your kids very well. read more

We love Dr. Finfrock for my daughter. She is kind, gentle, informative and compassionate. She answers all of our questions and takes her time with us as first time parents with too many questions. My daughters first three months of life were incredibly stressful for us and she helped guide us through it all. My issue is with the system of picking up phone calls. They are far too busy and when I call it says I am 2nd in line and yet it'll then bump me to position 10. Then someone picks up and hangs up. I call back again and some operator picks up and tells me that they can't help me and to call back. This is a broken system and incredibly frustrating when trying to reach someone to help my daughter. read more

Dr. Kim is wonderful with kids. She really is. However it takes months to schedule an annual visit. It is almost impossible to make an appointment when my child is sick that she is always referred to go to urgent care or see another random doctor in the office days from the day we actually need a doctor. Dr Jane Kim is great! This review is not about her but how the staff handled our re-scheduling! My sons wellness checkup was scheduled for 12/28 but we were still recovering from Covid so I called to re-schedule! I usually talk to someone at the Irvine Booth Circle office but I believe this time it was a call center and they re-scheduled me at the other Irvine Office WITHOUT telling me! Look at my file and see where I always go which is the Booth Circle office .. why would you not give me a heads up if you scheduled me at another office? I'm not going to know Dr. Khosharadi is at another office until you tell me .. it's your job! I get the the booth circle office 20 min early waiting in the parking lot and when I go in they tell me my appointment is at the other office and they couldn't even try to squeeze me in given that we are regulars there! I drive in the rain to the other office and they needed my insurance and ID (aren't your systems linked?) then waited another 45 before seen by Dr. Khosharadi! I didn't deserve this and no parent does! I called today but I keep getting transferred to the call center! I need the office manager (Jackie) from Irvine booth circle to call me back and schedule our next appointment and I need an explanation and an apology for what we went through today! I'm still waiting for my call back. It shouldn't be this hard to re-schedule with our REGUAR peds office! This is a second strike from Coastal Kids! 3rd one and we're out! read more

Good luck trying to call this office it is always at least a 20-30min wait just to speak to the front desk or to make an appointment. Also having a primary doctor here is joke you will literally never see the same doctor twice unless you can foresee you child needing to be seen 1-2 months before they actually get sick even then follow-ups are a nightmare. This places only saving grace is that the nurse practitioners often have availability and are really great. read more

I'd give the doctors 5 stars but dealing with the office is an absolute nightmare. Unfriendly, disorganized and a total waist of time. Be prepared to consistently wait a hour for your apt. I made an appointment here primarily to see if I could find a provider who would help me with my son's eczema. When I made the appointment I told them he's not vaccinated.. no apparent issue there. When I showed up, they asked me for his vaccine records so I told them again he has none. They then proceeded to refuse to see us because of this. Pretty ridiculous and a waste of my time. We were in the healthy kids waiting room, with NOBODY there so their excuse of not wanting to expose anyone was downright stupid. Let me get this straight... You're afraid of my son spreading diseases to people who are supposedly protected from such diseases already? Make it make sense. People have completely lost their common sense today. read more

Dr Abolowitz is an amazing guy very friendly and knowledgeable Dr Kim and Dr Bui is my other favorites love those guys, they hold your hand through the the entire being process of being a first time parents. All my three kids' pediatricians are here, my kids used to see other pediatricians in Irvine, I am not saying other clinics are bad, but costal kids' doctors really care about my kids. My son had baby asthma, once he coughed really bad, hard to breath, because Coastal kids is the closest clinic, I took my son there, unfortunately, it was 5:30pm, and they are almost closed, only 2 person left in the clinic, they were preparing to leave. One of the doctor saw my son's situation, used the breath mask and machine without any hesitate, after about half hour, my son can breath like normal. They are not like other clinic after working time told you go to the ER, urgent care or call 911. The doctor walk me out, and told me what to do if this happened again. This is just one example, they saved my kids at least 3 times. I am not saying they can do everything, once they helped me coordinate with the ER. It really means a lot to me, as a father. And I will thank for that my entire life. Good pediatricians are the pediatricians really care about your kids, and do the right thing immediately. read more

I recently moved cross country to Orange County and was a couple weeks behind on my daughter's 6 month well visit. I was very grateful that Coastal Kids was able to schedule me within the week. They sent me the paperwork ahead of time to minimize check-in time. Jackie at the front of the office was professional, friendly, and so helpful. She made our first visit a breeze. She answered all the questions I had regarding the practice. We were seen for a weekday first appointment and was called quickly. The nurse was extremely gentle with my daughter. We had our appointment with Dr Kim who was everything we had hoped for. She was friendly and knowledgeable. She didn't rush our visit and answered all our questions. We look forward to future visits to Dr Kim. I have yet to come here for a sick visit, but I was told to always call the office first to see if they can triage over the phone and recommend next steps. On weekends their Newport location sees same day sick appointments. read more

The doctors were nice enough but they never really seemed to have space to see my kids when they were sick. I ended up needing to take my 4 year old to the emergency room for symptoms of a UTI where she was prescribed standard antibiotics but exposed to all kind of other things during COVID. This was fall of 2020. I ended up with a $1,000 bill which was totally unnecessary.... Very disappointed with this office. read more

I recently switched pediatricians about a year ago once I started my new job. I'd say I've been here about 4 different times for my son's check ups and they were all great! There was only one time when we had a covid test scheduled that the experience left me with mixed feelings. We had a test scheduled for a certain time and arrived. There weren't any signs or anything telling us where to go, so I went into the office where someone at the front desk told us to wait outside. There were multiple cars parked outside with parents and their kids waiting for the covid test as well. Some doctors finally came out after about 15 -20 minutes past my appt time (which wasn't too big of a deal) It was more of the fact that there was no communication of which doctor was supposed to be testing which patient. So When I saw other doctors going to all the other cars and nobody had come over to acknowledge myself and my son when we had been waiting in the rain for quite some time.. it was a bit frustrating. But again I understand that this is a one off situation. This was back in December and I know that covid isn't exactly something that we are all prepared for so it can get chaotic. Otherwise I have nothing but great reviews for this place! My son loves coming here. The staff is friendly and patient. read more
