I'm very sad that I can only give it five stars here at most, because I think Dr.Lee deserves a…read moreten-star rating. Even more and perfect. Let me just say this firstly: I guarantee with my own integrity that you will not find a better doctor in this area! Without comparison to other doctors, you might never know how good he is. My daughter has been seeing a Chinese-speaking doctor because of my mother's language barrier, but my son has been seeing Dr. Lee all the time! I'd always had a very good impression of him with my son because he always came to see us very quickly whenever I went to his clinic. First, the waiting time was very short, and second, he was incredibly patient. He answered all my questions very seriously and wasn't in a hurry to leave. I often asked really silly questions, but he always answered them patiently! Believe me, if it were any other doctor, they would have left long ago! Everyone's time is precious. If you can find a doctor like Dr. Lee who is willing to explain any details to you, you must cherish that. His professionalism and knowledge are beyond question. He always manages to pinpoint the problem accurately. Just a very simple example: When my son had a stomachache, I took him to other doctors, and they recommended an X-ray. But Dr. Lee told me that many children have stomach aches due to constipation. I later discovered that every time he complained of stomach pain, he would ask to go to the toilet. Of course, there are many other examples like Dr. Lee,who is exceptionally gentle and attentive when administering vaccines. Compared to other doctors who can even apply bandages crookedly. He never over-treats, and he never creates anxiety for you. No other doctor can compare to him in this respect! As I mentioned, my daughter has been seeing a Chinese-speaking doctor, but recently she caught the flu. Yesterday, Friday, I called her doctor, who very indifferently and barely answered some questions. Today, my daughter has a fever, and because it's the weekend, I couldn't contact them at all to offer any help. I had no choice but to leave a message to Dr. Lee. I really didn't expect him to reply to both of my messages, the second one even at almost 10 pm without any paid! This isn't even within his job description. He could have easily refused to help me. But because of his kindness and his genuine concern for children's , he chose to help. He told me because my son is his patient so he likes to help our family. Of course, I need to immediately transfer my daughter to Dr. Lee's .There's no need to see any other doctor, even if it means communicating in English. I remember asking Dr. Lee before, "Why don't you accept insurance premiums?" Because he doesn't, many people would seek out doctors who do. He told me he didn't want to spend time arguing with insurance companies; he wanted to spend his time seeing and taking care of patients, that's exactly what he did. I'm glad he did that because if he took insurance, his clinic would probably be the busiest in the area. He only charges 100 for a consultation, unlike many places where it's 300. This proves that he genuinely wants what's the best for the children and helping children, not just making money. I realized long ago that my child was more important than $100. I preferred not to go through insurance because when you encounter crucial problems, you realize it was absolutely worth it.

As in any doctor's office, there is sometimes a 20-30 minute wait, but seeing her is worth it. I'd say that 4 times out of 5, she's been able to take us for a same-day appointment. She is gentle and takes her time with each child. Dr. Amina is knowledgable with homeopathic medicine as well as Western medicine, and I appreciate that she tries natural remedies first before going the route of medication or antibiotics (which has worked each time!). She's also considerate of how many factors can affect my child when she's sick. For instance, she guessed that my daughter may have asthma when I brought her in for a lingering post-cold cough (her father has asthma, which I hadn't mentioned!). Her staff is friendly, and my girls love the colorful play waiting room, kid-appropriate TV programs playing in the background, child-friendly bathroom, and the cute themed exam rooms. The girls leave with Disney stickers (makes them smile!). And there hasn't been any tears yet. So thankful that such an accessible, caring and skilled pediatrician is only 12 minutes from our home!

It is convenient to my house and having MyChart/EPIC is very useful. Why two stars? Well the extra star is not for them. They treat my children very well but they are rude, judgmental, and condescending towards the parents. They are less rude if my husband is with me. I guess they realize they can't fully act out on their crap behavior. I have ignored it for long enough. I have confidence in my parenting skills so people like that don't usually bother me as a one-off but I just don't have the patience anymore. I am worried one day I am going to snap back at them verbally and, more importantly, my child should not see rude doctors as normal or that I have allowed myself to be annoyed to that point. We are not ridiculous paranoid or basic parents that are anti-vax, don't believe in science, want our kids to do fad diets, or are concerned about them getting hurt trying spicy "ethnic" food. I think they are just jaded, pumped up by their pedigrees, and burnt out. They need to remember that I am still a customer and not some naïve ignorant gleefully there to be denigrated. The doctors I have seen are Palmisano and Field. Not sure why Palmisano is so popular, her manner with me is dismissive and distrusting. I bought into the reviews and was so disappointed. It's so fake bubbly. They could very well be a villainous duo in a kids movie. Field seems like she's about to have a breakdown at any point. Especially later in the day, watch out. She's even criticized a previous set of parents to me. I don't even talk much, just the facts because I want to keep my interaction with them to a minimum while remaining pleasant. I've had Dr. Field slam her pen on the table at me because of her own will, she decided she needed to write down a treatment for my child. Guess she was mad she had to write? I didn't ask her to. All I did was ask about high level treatment options for a common condition that my child has. She's also judged me for not changing a lightly wet diaper or baby having a rash. Babies sometimes get rashes (diaper cream was visible on her body as I treat it immediately). I was intentionally waiting for the exam to change a diaper since it has to come off anyway. Of course they get wet. Babies pee frequently. I pointed to the clean diaper and wipes I set up next to my child ready to go and she didn't reply. I also got one of her looks for not wanting to send my kid to private school. Dr. Palmisano has waived me into silence and another time told my child to disregard my instructions about putting a Kindle away. She will also cut you off when she's done listening and the content holds no value. Again, I don't talk much and I'm easy-going so I don't get what is wrong with her. I am not the high-maintenance, 1000x questions type who needs to "speak to the manager" or send food back. It's a doctors appointment. Most recently, I had some concerns that I thought might be too sensitive to discuss in front of a young child and she starts asking questions about it. I couldn't answer fully, being by myself, so she didn't believe me and then ignored the issue. No follow-up. At the same appointment, I referenced a previous event and she snaps that she read the chart. Well, as a parent and patient, especially these days, taking 5 seconds to bring something up as a segue into a concern should not be shot down. It was akin to me saying to a doctor I had not seen in years, oh I had x happen last year which leads me to bring up y... but before you can explain y, you get snapped at. I mean, I don't know what to say. Perhaps they need to not work for Hoag or find another profession. Again, this has been happening for years. It is not COVID stress. I am close to this industry so I have a huge amount of compassion for first responders, essential workers, etc. Given the sample size of visits and interactions with these two, plus a witness to confirm, it's not us, it's them.

He really takes his time with each of his patients and you can tell he genuinely cares about each and every family he sees. We opted into the concierge program and it is the best decision we have ever made. The ability to text Dr Kar when we have a medical concern after hours or on weekends is invaluable. It is worth every penny and has come in handy countless times. Our son had a life threatening illness in 2024 that multiple specialists overlooked, and Dr Kar is the only reason he was able to get admitted and into surgery. He was a critical voice for us at CHOC when we needed an advocate to push for treatment, coordinate care among specialists, and get prescriptions and home health services figured out. I genuinely do not know what would have happened had we not had Dr Kar on our side. No one ever wants to be in a situation where their child has a life threatening medical condition but if you find yourself there like we did, Dr Kar will be in your court 100%.
