I called to schedule an appointment to have a leak repaired from my chimney after a bad rainstorm. The day they were scheduled to come out I had to call to postpone for a bit later in the afternoon due to an unforeseen event. I would have been fine if they needed to reschedule for another day but the office said they would try for later and get back to me. They never got back to me and nobody ever showed up. I left multiple messages to reschedule but the office never answers and never calls back. I assume they must be busy, but that is a poor excuse to not at least give someone the courtesy of a return call. I ended up having to call someone else to fix my chimney. Maybe they do great work, but I'll never know. read more

Thomas Lovell put a permanent seal on our chimney with glue. It came off in 2 months. He refused to fix the problem without charging the full amount again. We contacted another company who just took pictures of the mess on top of our chimney! They knew had done the previous work without asking! We have filed a complaint with the BBB. We called Coastal Chimney Sweeps to replace a chimney cap which had come off after 25 years. They said we could either replace the cap or seal the top of the chimney for the same price. Since we don't use the fireplace, sealing the chimney top was the option we chose. Mr. Lovell assured us that he would screw in the chimney seal, and that the fix would be permanent. This was on August 17th. Two months later, the seal had blown off and water was leaking into the fireplace. My husband used a mirror to look at the the top of the chimney and saw that glue was used to adhere the chimney seal that Mr. Lovell said he screwed into the chimney (the "permanent fix"). We called and first talked to the wife, who schedules the work, and who immediately said there's nothing they can do - it was the wind and they are not responsible. We explained that there had been no wind. After more calls, Mr. Lovell called to say he would not stand by the work he had done. It was as plain and simple as that. This company is a three man operation- husband, wife and son. We believed that because this is a small, family type business that they would be the kind of people to stand behind the work they had done. NOT so. We rarely post reviews, but want to share our experience to help others. Look at other companies! read more
