Other people came and when it was time they were all seen. I was still waiting. A student finally saw me waiting and then went to the instructor and finally, she addressed me. The instructor then said I don't know if I could help you because I can't see your hair; I have to see what I'm looking at. I was wearing a hijab so I said yeah, I know I wear a hijab because I always wear a hijab.I took off my hijab so she could see my hair. Then all she had was insults. First, she said that my hair was boxed dye. I told her I do not use box dye. I normally go to a different beauty college to get my hair done and they do not use boxed dye. She then said that she has been doing this for 25 years and she knows box dye on hair looks like and the school you went to used box dye. I called the school that I went to right then and there I asked them what they used and when they used and when the did my hair.They told me they used Redkin and they dyed my hair in February (8 months ago). Then the instructor went on the condition of my hair. She said that my hair is so damaged. I kept telling her that my hair is not damaged. My hair is naturally like this. I was born this way and she kept insisting that my hair was damaged. She said all she could do to my hair was to chop it off and to wash it. I called grand strand hair design and they they saw me and right away. They looked at my hair and they said my hair was healthy, and what normal healthy mixed hair looks like. See when you have mixed hair your hair that is thicker, dry looking, and it's nappy when you brush it. Then when you do brush it it's fluffy and soft. That's what happens when you have mixed hair. So I believe that this instructor at HGTC has been doing hair for 25 years was profiling me because of the lack of pigmentation in my skin. She probably didn't realize that I'm an albino. My grandfather is black. My hair has always been like this. And I kept telling her my hair wasn't damaged but she wouldn't listen. Or maybe she really doesn't know what mixed hair is. If you have mixed hair, go to grand strand design, at least they will take care of you and they won't make you feel like you have disgusting and gross hair.

The day he saw this man and immediately broke down sobbing was the day I knew I couldn't ignore my instincts any longer. I brought my concerns to the daycare, and while they listened, they assured me they had seen no red flags. I expected this response, but as a parent, my priority is my child's safety. I refuse to take chances when my child is showing me, in the only way he knows how, that something is deeply wrong. So I pulled him out immediately--better safe than sorry. Beyond my personal experience, I strongly believe that a male staff member should not be assigned to classrooms with 2-3-year-olds who are just developing communication skills. Why not place him with older children who can express themselves better? This man is changing the diapers of little girls and boys and assisting with potty training. I'm not sure why the daycare believes this is a good idea, but I personally wasn't willing to risk my child's well-being. I am sharing this because I would want another parent to do the same for me. If your child is showing signs of distress at daycare, trust your gut. No one will advocate for your child like you will.

They have helped me and my son so much. He was struggling with grief and separation anxiety and difficultly regulating his emotions. They never gave up on him and now he is getting good notes saying how well he is doing at least once a week!
