I jumped on their website, texted the number there and got our 11 year old signed up for a private lesson for the very next day. Sydney was a lovely and patient instructor. The owner was there, too, very polite and organized and I paid with Venmo right there on the beach. And my son who had never surfed before got up about 40 times in his 90 minute lesson. Although I was very seriously thinking on getting a new surf board, I held myself back and purchased a skim board for my granddaughter. Logan was great in assisting us in finding the right board. He was knowledgeable on the skim boards and sized up the right board to my granddaughters height and weight. I spent more than I wanted too , but getting a better skim board meant better success. She skim boarded on our last vacation together in the Outer Banks. She went out everyday and eventually learned how to skim board. My reasoning for getting her a good one. Back to Bert's , easy access to, plenty of parking, anything you want in surfing , skateboarding , swim wear, accessories and more are here. After it was asked to the staff it was not even consideration or an attempt to ask a manager or owner if it could be an option. Was just given a flat out no. Disappointing as the experience they had was wonderful and I was only unable to join due to a conflict that I couldn't avoid and was at last minute. I call them and get the details and find out that they come to you. Not like the other guys I called that you have to go where they are or will be. The price is right and they offer discounts the more time you book. The day came when her lesson was going to start. They called me to confirm our daughter's height and weight, showed up on time, brought the correct surf board. Explain from beginning to the end (who, what where and when of it all). My daughter who is ADHD with a big E in front (extreme) had no problems fallowing along, enjoyed it and I liked that we had a 2 hour lesson and after an hour they took a break and it was not included in the time booked. After it was said and done they did not pressure me into more time or other lessons. Very professional, punctual, understanding and most of all patient.
