This was my second year visiting the fair and it definitely wasn't as good as last year. They apparently changed who they get their rides through and it was very obvious. There weren't as many rides for older kids/adults. My two older kids only got to ride a couple rides this year since the lines were so long. I wish I had just bought individual tickets for rides because we barely rode anything due to lines and definitely not $125 worth (total cost of the wristbands). The food we got was ok and the prices were expected though I was not about to pay $9 for one slice of pizza. Both years my oldest daughter has also gotten grease from the spinning rides in her hair and then on her clothes. Not easy to get out so I def recommend wearing stuff you don't mind getting dirty, just in case. Oooh and this year the sky ride was not included in the wristband cost. There was hardly anyone riding it due to the change. I'm sure we will be back next year since 2 out of 3 kids love it but it will be reluctantly on my part :p

The Coastal Carolina fair is great every year. One aspect that I appreciated this year was the security. They did a great job of making us feel safe and we're both friendly and professional. We passed through and we're into the fair in no time. The clear bag policy was easy to follow as their signage was clearly placed so you wouldn't be surprised. Even parking was handled smoothly because of the police and workers helping direct fair traffic. The rides were great for the kids and will put smiles on their faces for years. Of course my main reasons to attend are the amazing and unique food options! This is a yearly staple for us and we can't wait to come back next year!

We go every year and love it. We love the flower show, art and craft show, the agriculture and live animals. Not into the midway rides anymore but I used to love them . But I have to say the 4 star instead of 5 star rating is due to the extremely high price of the food. Come on $20.00 for one turkey leg is a crime.

The fair is a staple and a tradition. If you're local, you go - there is no question about it. There are plenty of junk food options, rides, shows, animals, vendors - plenty to keep you busy. I will continue to go every year - because you just have to.

Had a great time at the fair! It was hot and I was definitely over dressed but it was still very fun! I think it's a great time for family and friends but I think it could use for a few improvements. Firstly, it was very expensive, $50 for the fair is very steep. Wild adventures theme park is almost the equivalent price and is an entire theme park. I initially thought the ride bracelet came with admission but it did not. I do think the money is donated to a good cost but I wonder if that is something families can afford? I had no issue parking, but leaving took me over an hour. Setting up a parking attendant to direct the traffic to the highway would really help the flow of traffic especially bc I went on a Saturday morning and they were also holding a farmers market next door which meant double the cars for a double event! I enjoyed the fair but I likely will only pay admission or attend on a themed day when admission is free.

Always a great time. Parking is a little chaotic but the rides are fun and the food is typically carnival fair but keep a close eye on wandering kids. It's a bit pricey and can be very busy.

Annual fair in Ladson. We bought tickets online this year, and I was able to add them to my apple wallet. Was cheaper than getting them at the gate. Wristbands for unlimited rides were $22 online v $27 inside. Getting through the gate was very quick at 11 am on a Saturday. Longest wait was the line to park, but parking was free. I'm shocked they didn't check our bags. I would have packed a couple bottles of water had I known. Bottled water inside is $3 each for a 16 oz. Wait times on the rides was pretty nonexistent until about 1pm. The petting zoo was cute and full of sweet animals. Barn was very clean. We found some cool vendors too, like Mega Outdoors selling the plastic composite furniture that's customizable. I may have sat a minute in an Adirondack glider. ... The fair food options didn't disappoint. No way I can try it all, so we went with our favorites. Foot long corn dog, fried Oreos, fried pickles, and slushees. There is also gator on a stick, chicken Teriyaki, egg rolls, chocolate covered strawberries on a stick, cheese on a stick, fried candy bars, fried pop tarts, you name it.

I'm so glad we went 1st thing in the morning. There was no traffic, no long lines to get in or for rides or food!!! We stayed for about 4 hours. We came we ate and we had fun! I loved the Buffalo Chicken Chips and an Elephant Ear is always my go to at the Fair!

The Coastal Carolina Fair is fun every year! This year, I took advantage of their military night and saved a lot of money! I also went on Halloween night, and there wasn't a huge crowd; it was perfect! No long lines at all. I love the shopping centers and the different booths set up. All the rides were fun and I made my friend ride the scary ones with me. Even though there are risks to the ride, I still ride. There are risks to everything. I think that's a part of the thrill of it to me. As we were walking out to go home, we saw there was a rodeo going on. So much fun! I remember rodeos from when I lived in Texas. Those were huge events there. I definitely enjoyed myself and I cant wait until next year!

The Coastal Carolina Fair is great! There's something for everyone--it's perfect for kids, teens, a date night, anything! It's the perfect size. It offers the typical fair rides and games. The entry fee is $12 for adults...I don't remember what it is for kids. You can also purchase wrist bands instead of individual tickets, which saves money. There's live entertainment each night. Who doesn't love fair food! Turkey legs, deep fried desserts, elephant ears, cotton candy...so many choices, so many calories. There are plenty of vendors. You can pick up an airbrushed shirt, artwork, jewelry, honey, etc. The local 4H club is here. They have kids' cooking competitions. Art from local students is on display. One of the local high schools even has a food stand set up to raise money for their organizations. Not only is the fair fun, it's also informative. My mom loves the horticultural building. The animals are adorable--miniature horses, chickens, rabbits, bulls, donkeys, etc. It's a great learning experience for kids, as well as adults. Some of the animal stations accept donations for their cause. Traffic, parking, and exiting the fair can be chaotic so be patient!

Coastal Carolina is a small regional fair, and gets a 4 stars for value--entry cost is very modest. What I liked: The location is easy to get to and there's plenty of parking. As noted, entry is low in cost. A varied selection of fair food options ring the grounds. Fair food is one of the main reasons I visit a fair! On this day, we ate fried dill pickles and veggies (see pics). Both were quite good. One of my family members had a pumpkin funnel cake. She thought it was quite yummy. If you're going to go to a fair, just leave your calorie counter at home. A second reason I go the the fair are all the local fair entries--art, quilts, horticulture, food (cookies, pies, etc). The south has historical traditions for textile arts, and I wasn't disappointed. A big surprise and disappointment involved the animals. In our former state, there were lots of animals, judging, and the ability to interact with livestock raised by 4H or FFA youngsters. Not here. I didn't see rows of enclosures anywhere--just a single small building with a small selection of animals. Barriers prevented the public from getting close and signage instructed viewers not to touch any animals. Even when the little goats pressed against the fencing, just begging for a pet. Typical for a fair, there were rides and a midway--we didn't go there. We made the rounds at vendor exhibits, but didn't find much that was special. Still, I'll go again next year. And I plan to enter a quilt!

This fair absolutely brings me back to childhood, especially at night. I don't go on the rides but all the classics are there in abundance and I love walking around with all the lights and music and bustle. The food is insane and a great place to indulge in some fried goodness. They always manage to have a few offerings that surprise me (friend Kool aid, fried gummy bears, etc.) And it's fun to see the crazy variety of extreme fair foods. I got my friend pickle fix (YUM). Aside from the food and rides there are buildings with neat wares for sale and we spent plenty of time looking around at interesting products. It's totally worth the ten dollar admission to wander around just looking at everything, we didn't even need to play games or ride rides to enjoy! I love the barn animals- fluffy rabbits and huge bulls (steer? Clearly not a farm girl) but the one reason this fair doesn't get five stars is the petting zoo (completely separate from the barn) alarmed me as they have exotic animals (not just the usual goats and sheep) and I was a little concerned at how lethargic they looked and how tiny the pens are. There was a kangaroo that looked fairly young and it was in a very small holding. There were also zebra and several other non-US animals that one typically wouldn't find in such a setting. I walked away more concerned than carefree from that portion of the fair, so I wanted to mention it.

Before leaving we had to finish up with fresh kettle corn and candied nuts. The only downside is the large crowds. I believe there were approximately 45 vendors this year. Vendors range from a vast variety of food trucks, Jewelry makers, plants and floral, home decor, and local charities to include the animal society. There were so many food options to choose from ranging from funnel cakes to gyros and everything in between. There were some small carnival rides in the rear of the festival that might be nice for kids, and also picnic tables along the road to stop to eat or rest. Overall it was a relaxing stroll on a nice sunny day with a variety of foods/vendors to choose from and proceeds help to benefit the local community.

We went to the Lowcountry Cajun Festival in April 2024. This is a great time of year for festivals…read morein Charleston as it is not incredibly hot yet. It did rain in the days before, so the grass was a little soggy, but nothing that our tennis shoes/sneakers couldn't handle (I don't recommend flip flops). Logistics wise, this is an easy festival- especially if you have a Gold Pass. With your Gold Pass, your car gets in free, so invite friends or bring folks in the biggest van or SUV. A shuttle school bus takes you from the parking area to the festival area, or you can walk. We chose to walk back rather than waiting on the shuttle, and it was a short walk. Once inside the festival, you're responsible for your own food and beverages, but no tickets are needed- just pay at the vendors. There's a kid's area to play on inflatables for $10 with a wristband. The vendors selling crafts and items were all local and had neat items- my husband bought a hat and I got body butter. Food ranged from alligator bites and crawfish for the adventurous to fair food items (funnel cakes) to burgers or ice cream. I had a shrimp po boy, hushpuppies, and lemonade from a food truck, and it hit the spot. Plenty of picnic tables and shade are available for seating, but you can also bring chairs or picnic blankets. Be aware that the food items sell out quickly. I'm giving four stars instead of five for crowds/numbers. The festival needed more potties. The lines (both for food and potties) were long, and I only saw one group of portajohns. We missed the crawfish eating contest, and while the music was good, I didn't know who was playing or which stages. If you have a Charleston County Parks gold pass, the Cajun Festival is a fun way to spend a Spring Saturday in Charleston.
