Dr Pinto is a complete and utter disgrace to medicine and the cardio practice. She dismissed my questions, ignored concerns brought forth by other doctors, order ZERO tests and halfass listened to my heart - yet I got a fat bill. There are PLENTY of other cardiologists who are a short drive / flight away who will treat you with respect and concern and gladly take your money instead. "It wasn't the doctor at all".... After a "Heart" procedure in April had scheduled a follow up for June. I wasn't aware follow-up was 45$ if I had been informed to bring it I would have at least had a heads-up... but wasn't. So I didn't have it... in my thinking that a persons health would trump the 45$ co-pay... I was totally wrong ...I couldn't be seen....how sad is this smh !!!! I even offered a post-dated check, no answer for that. I had to drive 40+ miles and had to reschedule for another appointment.... this appointment is scheduled for August 2023 for my follow up... I have always given a company the benefit of a doubt when it comes to customer service, but Coastal Cardiologist is probably the worst I have ever dealt with in Charleston. After surgery I had a question about one of my meds and its interaction. I still have yet to have that question answered. When I call, all I receive is voice mail and prompts. When I have spoken to a human she gives me back to the voice mail of the doctors assistant. When I called again the next day, the secretary told me the number the assistant had used, and it wasn't the right one. I am not even sure how they found my old number. I do give credit to their physical therapy department for a call concerning after care. read more

They are truly truly terrible now. Receptionists are horrible and scheduling is awful. Existing patients who have been there for years can't even get in to see a doctor, even if they have issues -- they can only see a PA. This practice has gone completely downhill and we will be leaving. read more

My wife has been a patient here for over a decade. Her doctor was Matthew O'Steen, who was nice but condescending. She has been feeling unwell for about a week, so I tried to make an appointment for her today. The first person I spoke to, Mimi, was nice and put me on hold to look for a nurse to speak to me. After 18 minutes, Ryan from Triage answered the phone and her tone was extremely rude. I told her I thought she sounded really rude, and she said she was just trying to get my name because they did not tell her who she was speaking with. I had no problem giving her my name, as I had already given her my first name not realizing she needed my last name to see if she could speak to me about my wife (again, I was just trying to make an appointment so this did not occur to me. I told her she was missing the point, that her tone was rough. Then....click. She hung up. I could understand if I were raising my voice or acting out of line, but I was only matter-of-factly stated to her that she sounded rude. I called back, and Julia answered. I told her I was just on the phone with Ryan and Triage and she hung up on me. She said " I doubt that, it was probably just the phone system". The way she said it sounded like she was alerted by Ryan that I might be calling back. I explained to her that it happened when I told Ryan her tone was rough, and she said "uh huh". I told Julia it didn't seem like she was concerned about what I was telling her. I told her today's interaction let me know I should look elsewhere, and in the middle my sentence....click. I called back and Julia answered. I asked if she just hung up on me as well, and she said 'well, you said you did not need anything". I asked to speak to the practice manager, and Julia said she would send an email out. I said I wanted to speak to someone on the phone now. She asked who, as they had several practice managers. I said whoever your supervisor is. I waited on hold ten minutes, and she came back to say they were in a meeting and would not be out until about 10. She then asked me nice as pie what I was calling for so she could see if she could help. I think this tells you she knew they were in the wrong. I hope they record these calls and listen to how their staff talk to people. I told Julia I would not be making an appointment with them, but I would be following up on my complaint. I suggested she reconsider how she speaks to people who are calling to get assistance with health concerns. I said thank you, waited for her reply, and then hung up. That is how you end a phone call even when people upset you, assuming you can behave professionally. Edit: I personally saw Dr. Woodfield and thought he was nice and attentive. The cardiologists at Coastal misdiagnosed me and, as a result, I had a very stressful Fall thinking I had an ASD that would require closure, when in fact, I did not. I got a second opinion and a new echocardiogram, which showed there is actually nothing to worry about. I'm sure they would have realized this when they did the further testing they wanted to do, but I'm annoyed thinking of all the stress and doubt that was for nothing. Terrible office help , calling today for stress and eco test ! Told me last week results were not in for eco , today after me calling again said I never took test , when I left two weeks ago they said they had everything! I'm a ex heart attack male with high blood pressure again ,10 years since first attack, trying to get answers, can't get right ones here ! I was very impressed with Dr Cicone. He was professional, thorough and easy to relate to. He knew my medical history and viewed me as a whole body rather than just his expertise. After a routine exam, Dr Ellison identified an issue that needed immediate intervention. He performed followup diagnostics in a timely manner and his office coordinated with an external surgeon to resolve my issue and an external rehab program to renew my health.
