I understand that she just gave him that paper, that she just went over it in class for 20 minutes, (that's what she was yelling at him) but if a teen is self-advocating by asking questions when they don't understand something, you can't scream at them. My son said she yells at them like that sometimes when she's passed her limit, but in my opinion, she should NOT be working with teenage drivers. My daughter will not be going there when her time comes to get her license.

Initially I gave them a low rating because of the way they were releasing weekly drivers scheduling only on Fridays between 3-5pm. Although they are still doing that - you have to log in between those hours in order to schedule driving times for your student and you can only book 2 at a time - I have finally gotten the hang of it and they are now offering more driving slots so that my daughter is finally getting her driving lessons. Also, my daughter feels like she is getting good instruction and tips from the instructors she has driven with so far.

Now, our son has completed in-person classroom learning, and it was fine. But, it is literally IMPOSSIBLE to book his driving instruction hours. They post random availability on the 1st of the month, and then again on the 5th. There has never been availability that works with my son's school schedule. So, be prepared to pre-pay for drives that you can not book. This is insane! There always seems to be midday availability, but he is IN SCHOOL. Aren't the majority of drivers ed students in school? I am very disappointed in this experience. He only has so long to complete all of this, yet they make it impossible. Beware before you pay for classes & driving that you can not book. Today is 2/5/24 - And attached is a picture of the response that you will receive when trying to book any in-person drive instruction. It has been like this for 4 straight months.

They were always friendly when I talked with them on the phone. I feel that this service was very useful for my boys, and the location was convenient for our family. My boys say they offer snacks to buy during class times and that the class is not bad. The earliest age to participate in a driver's education course in Indiana is 15 years old. I've had to enter the establishment several times, and it appeared small, clean, just enough space for the service they offer. I really appreciated this business!

I've often tried to sift through all our years and determine what they most learned/received at Orchard and if I had to pick one attribute (and there are many), I'd pick confidence. They are all confident public speakers. For example, when my daughter was a junior in high school, she won an award that required her to speak at a dinner with over 400 people present. I tried several times to get her to practice and review her speech in advance, knowing that the previous recipient had a professional speech writer. In frustration, one evening she said, "Mom, I went to Orchard. Don't worry." She delivered a flawless speech without notes. They are all confident about their ability to learn. Orchard likes to say they help create lifelong learners and they do. Each of our children knows how to learn and they like to learn. They are all confident expressing themselves to anyone. In high school, their teachers observed that unlike many shy teens they were not afraid to ask questions and advocate for themselves or for others. And, this has continued throughout their college and post-graduate years. Orchard invites and teaches children how to respectfully approach adults. At Orchard, education is not just about science, English, history, etc. While these are important, it's also about helping develop good people and preparing them for the future.
