Service was stellar and food was absolutely delicious! We searched for a long time to find a steakhouse in the area and this totally hit the spot!

I love this place and have a lot of fun every time I come here. I typically come here on a golf trip with twenty other guys so it has to be demanding to take care of us for the four days were here. When we check in, Theresa is running the show from the front counter is always nice when dealing with our loud and somewhat sober group. The course is clean, laid out well, and challenging on some holes. The course has a decent amount of holes with water and there always a beverage cart roaming the course so you don't become dehydrated. Rooms are average, clean with a tube tv that some people bitch about. I don't know why your watching tv when you could be shooting 36 holes a day and drinking at night, especially at the low rates they give you for a round of gold. The bar is held down by Eric who is serving up very heavy poured jack and cokes in my glass while I meet some interesting locals and travelers from the tri-state area. Drinks are very very well priced (did i say very) and they had a few 70 inch tv's behind the bar and other 40 something inch tv's on the other walls. Food is good and large portions ;prime rib buffet, large burgers, steaks, and a fish fry are must do's. Stop reading and reserve a tee time

This place always has good food. From appetizers to main dishes, it's great. Always recommend getting a side of the garlic Parmesan ranch. It's excellent. The golf course itself is also nice. Monday's is a deal day. 9 holes walking for $10. Just can't beat that.

    1:45 on a Saturday night!

Great friend service in the bar area. The food was not earth shattering, but a friendly vibe goes a LONG way!

If you don't have the time to drive all the way to the Northwoods, you can still have a fantastic view of a beautiful lake, paddle around in a kayak or rent a pontoon, cook out, throw a frisbee, or borrow bicycles and ride into Stoughton (Norwegian bakery!). You can eat at Halverson's, a short walk down the road, and drink too many Old Fashions and walk back to the resort. Their food is great in the old Wisconsin way. You can come by boat or bicycle with a little planning and make a mini-adventure out of it. There are three tiny but efficient cottages and a small, medium, and large guest house. We got Cottage #1 (the one in the photo up on the hill). The cottage has a tiny but full bath and a bedroom. Naturally, you'll spend most of your time on that patio with the awesome view of Lake Kegonsa. The manager Frank is an outstanding fellow who keeps everything immaculate. He also rehabbed all these units so he must be quite a craftsman as well. He went the extra mile for us on a couple of accounts. So 5 stars for accommodations, 5 stars for service, and 5 stars for value.

I was looking for the perfect getaway for my boyfriends birthday when I stumbled upon this place. Lake Kegonsa was never a lake I had heard of until now and boy let me tell you I'm glad I did. This lake is stunning and the views you get of it from these cabins are unreal. It's breath taking to watch the sun rise over the lake in the early morning. Cabin number 2 was our choice for the weekend. The prices were very responsible especially for all the cabin had to offer. It was fully stocked with anything and everything you may need. Don't let the pictures on the website fool you, these cabins are completely updated. New appliances, new TV's and very comfy beds. Lastly, Frank the owner of the property, was very kind and inviting. When we first arrived there he greeted us with open arms at 6pm. Which was very nice because many places offices close at 5pm and he was there all ready for us at 6. He keeps the properties very tidy and presentable. Don't sleep on this place, it's not one that should be missed!!

The mansion was built in 1856, making it the first mansion in Lake Geneva. The estate has been completely redone but charming details were kept. Along with a mansion where you can book a room, Maxwell also includes beautiful gardens, lounges, outdoor fireplaces, a heated pool, croquet and bocce ball. There is also a separate area in the back with motel rooms. Like I said, I was there for a lil' drink. There's a bar inside the mansion (Apothecary Bar) with all kinds of medical and druggist paraphernalia, with the space being a tribute to Dr. Philip Maxwell. But it's the speakeasy, which is accessible outside in the front of the house, that you'll want to visit. Ask for the password inside the mansion, and they will let you into a dark, below-ground bar. It's all decorated in prohibitionist flyers, and even the bartenders are dressed up in period costumes. It's a really cool and unique bar in Lake Geneva.

Focusing the review on the apothecary bar. You need to know the password to get in the speakeasy. A few days after we visited the speakeasy, we went in to try the apothecary bar to get some food and drink. A friendly helpful bartender, explained all their creative cocktails, shared the pub food that they offered, and answered questions. We ordered a flatbread pizza and a spinach artichoke dip as well as a couple of cocktails. They served us at a table where we sat on a couch in a room just across the hall and were quite comfortable. There are other rooms where you can go - not much seating in the actual apothecary bar.
