There are a couple of things which stop The Old Brown Jug from being my local... firstly, the…read morelocation... it's not local to me which doesn't help as it means I have to drive there (a great opportunity to mention the ample parking outside). Secondly, the price. The Old Brown Jug is a bit more expensive than you're average pub. I view it as a place I go to as a treat or as a one off rather than a regular place otherwise you would just be skint all the time. One thing which does take me there is the great selection of drinks on offer. The pub has a number of continental beers such as my favourite Erdinger and also has a range of real ales and ciders. Thursday night is cheap cider night so a good chance to get along and test out some new brews!! The pub itself is very spacious with rustic wooden floors and a homely feel. The garden out the back is huge with plenty of seating and is covered by parasols and heaters meaning you can stay relatively dry if the weather takes a turn for the worse. A top pub in the Stoke area and well worth checking out.

Small, quaint pub near the end of Newcastle City Centre so can be easily missed at times. One quite interesting attraction to the Jug is all the live music/salsa/acoustic nights they host. Student friendly, worth a visit or two.

It's exactly what you picture when thinking about a proper pub! Came back after the match and had a pint with some local Stoke supporters who Introduced me to their house beer - Green Monkey Ale. Perfect way to end my day in Stoke.

I have been various times as a friend to several bands that have performed on the premises. Despite your music tastes you still end up dancing along and enjoying yourself as the atmosphere is fantastic. The punters are all-be-it a bit weird sometimes but it adds the atmosphere of the place! The sound system which supports each band is of top quality so whatever goes wrong is bands fault! It does get crowded especially if the band is well known in the area or has a lot of fans. Prices for drinks are average but recommended for a night in the Glebe is definitely Newcy Brown! The owners of the pub are very friendly and encourage new and upcoming talent to get in touch to be added to the list for the night. Same as any other pub typical facilities such as snooker/pool table and electronic games are provided in a separate room to the main performing area. All walks of life enjoy a night in the Glebe as its a world of its own and one you can seriously enjoy yourself with.
