The previous review I gave on this rink a few months ago was BEFORE it became Skate City Coachlite. The new manager was very nice as well as the staff, but what ever they re-did the skate floor with is Horrible! I have 103A hardness urethane wheels and when I tried to turn / T-Stop, it felt like the floor had a strong grip on my wheels. It was uncomfortable that I couldn't enjoy the session. For that reason, sadly I won't be back. read more

My kids love going to coachlite, especially on school theme night. Everyone including adults not skating have to pay to get in. It can get pricey but kids always have a blast. read more

I've never been to a skate rink with a DJ, but Coachlite is by far my favorite skating rink I've been to in STL. There's two police officers outside at all times, which at first I was alarmed, but after entering the building my worries went away. The kids could skate, the parents could skate, the grandparents could skate! The music was perfect! And i i don't mean just lap around you, not that the people there couldn't, but mostly everyone knew how to rhythm skate! It was so cool to watch. I love skating and was excited to check out this rink in my area. I haven't been awhile due to an injured ankle so I was nervous at first, but quickly got into the vibe. The rink floor was clean, the snack bar has good prices (i didnt order, judt peeped what they had) and all the staff was friendly. They have lockers you can use for $0.50 as well. I was there on a Saturday and the rink was not too crowded which I also liked. I took off a star because i wanted to use the water fountain but it was very dirty and there is a step up to the snackbar (skates on carpet, on steps is not fun). I read other reviews about lacking variety of music.... it was mainly hip hop and r&b the day I went, but I talked with the dj and he let me know you can request songs- which I did and he did play it. read more

Excellent rink for seasoned rollers & beginners alike. Coaches are available to assist children with balance & techniques during family hours and I'm sure they offer private sessions for those wanting to develop more skill. The rink is nice & smooth with cool lights, concrete railing wall & artwork. There are plenty benches along the rink exterior as well as a spacious entertaining area for gatherings, parties, etc. Light snacks are served upon purchase. If you wish to purchase merchandise from skates to accessories like puff balls to bedazzle your set, Coachlite has that covered also. Don't forget a hand towel and quarters for the locker. I was very impressed with the people. They were so polite and they handled our birthday party like it was the only one. My son Matthew and his friends really had a fun time skating. I am 52 years old and I learned to roller skate at Coachlight. It was the place to be back in the day. But not anymore. The building is in decline, it's not clean and the customer service is deplorable. The only reason I allowed my child to go there was for a school event. We will not be attending even those anymore at this location. You are required to pay to even walk in the door which this alone is robbery. How can they possibly expect a parent to pay to sit and monitor their child? And they will not provide a refund for any reason. My child was in their building for 10 minutes until we discovered her friends were not attending. No skates were picked up. Yet they refused to refund the $10 entry fee. We paid $10 for 10 minutes. I will be encouraging our school PTO to choose another venue for future events. I'd rather drive farther. read more

About a month ago, my best friend decided she wanted to have an old school skate party for her 29th birthday. After weeks of coming up short on ideas, she finally settled on Coachlite. I thought the idea was perfect -- cute and simple. To be honest, I do not know how to skate. I attempted YEARS ago, busted my ass, and never tried again. But my bff's celebration made me want to try again, just not that night, lol!! For us Stliens, Coachlite is pretty much a childhood staple and a family nite favorite. Coachlite is a family-owned skating rink located on Pennridge Rd @ St. Charles Rock Road (SCRR), down the street from the Motel 6 and QT. I live in South City, so I literally hopped on 270 South, exited at SCRR turning left, made a right on Pennridge, and BOOM--Coachlite is on your right. Pennridge Rd isn't lit well, so for ppl not from StL, it may make you nervous. The parking lot isn't lit up either, but the building sign and the pathway leading to the entrance is bright. We were a party of 5. There is a cover charge to get in and for skates, but you do not have to skate. However, you do pay to get in -- I paid $9. This was a Friday nite, a popular family nite, so there was a nice crowd already there. Again, the weekend brings a crowd, as this is regular. For those looking to host parties there, they will charge you to bring in your own food. Coachlite is pretty much set up like your average rink: concession stand, DJ, seating area, strobe lights, arcade games, etc. There are lockers present to secure your belongings. The bathrooms are clean. Some of the workers are somewhat pleasant, others were nice, so the customer service was ok. We all thought of Beyoncé's 'BLOW' video and had a mini photo shoot, lol! We eat popcorn, vibed to the music and just all around had a great time. Coachlite is perfect for families, a date nite or just friends wanting to hang out. Admission isn't pricey, the food is cool and you're guaranteed a good time. Like I said, it has been a long since I put on skates. And just bc I had a great nite, Im feeling adventurous and up to coming back. read more

Coachlite Skate Center was so much fun! I haven't been skating in YEARS, but this weekend I attended a friend's skate party. The place was packed full of families. And there were probably 4 or 5 birthday parties going, different people turning a variety of ages haha! The place is super high energy with neon everything everywhere. There were some serious skaters out there but no one made me feel weird about holding onto the wall for dear life. All skill levels were seen on the floor. They even have support mechanisms for little kids to skate around the rink with. And, for the love of everything good, please do not forget your socks. However, if you do, they sell them in a vending machine. $3 - you'll need cash. read more

I went on Tuesday night, which is 21 and older. I was in town for work and wanted to get out of the hotel room and do something active. I am a regular at my local skating rink and enjoy it as a way to get in some exercise. Overall this is a nice skate center. The employees were pleasant and helpful. Lockers are available for 50¢. The floor is okay: some kind of epoxy coated concrete. I'm used to a wood floor, so the grip is quite different. I did have to leave the floor at one point to clean something off a wheel and will need to give them a good cleaning after the 2+ hours of skating. The music volume was a bit too loud. I prefer to be able to have it at a level that you can have a conversation with someone without yelling. The music selection was limited genres. While it was good beats to skate to, if you like to have a wide variety of music types I'm not sure you will find it there on Tuesday nights. Perhaps their other sessions there is more variety? The crowd steadily increased through the session with it becoming quite crowed around 9:45. Because of this I chose to leave about 10:10. The session started at 8, the first hour was best for skating at a fast pace. I did not purchase anything at the snack bar or use the restroom, so I can't comment on those parts of the facility. The parking lot has some lights along the building but no lights on the outer edges. There was ample parking. read more

Tonight was skate night at Coachlite Skate Center for local elementary school students. It costs $6.25 to enter plus $5 if you borrow their roller assistance holder PVC pipe with wheels for balancing. Once you return it, you'll get $2 back. Food selection is your typical concession stand, popcorn, soda, pretzels and candy. We purchased popcorn which were subpar but I didn't expect much more. The building is in fair condition for its age. One thing I didn't was the parking without cameras. The sign in the parking lot says "NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR DAMAGE OR THEFT" which makes me believe that your car could get broken into. The building is located within walking distance of Motel 6 and Waffle House. Not a bad place for kids to play while helping out local schools. read more

I grew up here since i was 8 years old. The staff and managers are very nice and professional. I would highly recommend this skating rink to anyone looking for a clean safe place to take their family or just yourself. Was at Coachlite for a birthday party and it brought back great memories from growing up! Condition of the building is great and the staff was fairly friendly. I paid admission for my younger daughter and it was $10 for admission, skates and a trainer (PVC PIPES on wheels to help her balance). Our biggest complaint was the lack of variety in music. Absolutely no kids or party music and it sounded like the same song from the minute you walked in to the minute you left. read more

We recently had my grandsons Birthday Party at Coachlite He and his many friends had a great time. They included the kids in games and announced each Birthday child's name. Which made him feel special. My daughter was very pleased with the snack bar people along with the Birthday server. The food was good and hot and came out on time. We even got a coupon at the end of the party to come back for a special price on our next visit. Which the kids are already talking about. The value was very good for a party of our size. On 11/22/15 I held my daughters birthday party at this establishment. I paid around $130.00 total. I have the following complaints that I have attempted to address with them via email and have never received a response back. .* They overbook their party area. 7 parties in one little spot is WAY too many people. * For the price I paid-I should have received my skates for free... Seriously you want to charge me an extra $8 to rent my skates when I already paid you $125.00. * The women's bathroom had no toilet paper nor did it have hand soap!!! Gross! * And lastly you held an over 18 skate during the time I booked my 4yr old birthday party and then told them they can't skate! Are you serious! I paid for her and her guests to be able to skate do you really think 4-8yr olds understand why you are not letting them skate! read more

Today we hosted a Birthday Party here. The experience was awful. Among other things the staff and "manager" were very rude, and at one point even got in my face and told us if we didnt like things we could leave. We were not given any direction on the party timeline, our birthday children were not given the birthday shout out, we waited almost an hour just to get 2 pitchers of soda, and we were not given the amount of skate rentals we paid for. Our guests had to purchase their own drinks because we waited so long. Upon explaining our issues to the manager we were told it wasn't his problem. The only time anyone came to our table was to drop off the hotdogs and soda an hour and 15 minutes into the party, and to give us a list of days and prices they were opened. The manager told us we paid for reserving a table, but the advertisement for the birthday party package tells a much different story. There were also arcade games that were broken. When brought to the attention of the staff they pointed to a sign stating no refunds on games. They actually said they knew it was broken and it would take your money, but their policy is to not give any refunds. Dont waste your time or money here. read more

I was really excited when my best friend booked her two boys and my daughters birthday party for Coach lite because we as kids spent every weekend there. When we arrived however the excitement changed to disappointment. She had paid for 11 kids and a couple of my kids had skates so I asked if I could use the skate ticket for me and just pay admission,the manager rudely said no that's not how it works so that was the first strike not that he said no but how rude he was. Well then the party began at 2 pm no one informed us on how any of it would go when the food or drinks or anything was coming out . We had to go to the counter ask for the drinks that were included in the party the women at the snack bar was extremely rude as well and said they would be out shortly at this point it was 45 mins into the party and the guests we had invited started buying their own beverages because they were thirsty even though we paid for drinks . We talked to the manager about what was going on and he proceeded to get in my friends face and was very unprofessional and pretty much said oh well . My friend paid 140 dollars for our kids party and the whole experience was horrible. My friend and I work in the customer service industry also were Party Managers at Chuck e Cheese's for 3 years and this experience was unacceptable. We asked for the owners number and they wouldn't give us any information the manager wouldn't even tell us his name. I will NEVER EVER go to that establishment again and will be contacting the better business bureau about this . I am never one to complain or post bad things but my hope is this never happens to anyone ever again . read more
