The walk takes about 15 minutes and is a great way to start your day each morning. There are also kayaks, board games, tennis courts, corn hole boards, a pool and hot tub available for hotel guests. The rooms are very clean and the beds are comfy and are well appointed with bath robes, a small refrigerator/freezer, seating area and outdoor balcony for upgraded rooms with a lake view. A basic continental breakfast is offered in the lobby every morning with coffee and tea available throughout the day. This family run resort is a family favorite for a reason! Kids 12 and over are welcome.

The variety of breakfast is a little lacking, but it is a small operation. Our suite was a bit funky, as you walked in through one king bedroom to get to the Living area. There was another king bedroom that was lofted and both have their own en suite bathrooms with a fabulous shower, set up, with a regular head, range, showerhead, and three body sprays. There was an issue one night, where there was a constant clicking, and being a musician. I measured it with my metronome, it clicked 42 time per minute. The manager and this person went on the roof themselves to try to discover the problem, along with her HVAC service, and found the issue, comping us one entire day. We will definitely try to stay at the same resort on our next trip, and will try to book far enough in advance to get the penthouse suites!

That's how petty I have to be to find anything negative about the Dorr Hotel. Perfect location. Cozy lobby. Immaculate rooms. Beautiful views. Other fun details: lots of board and yard games. Dorr is a lovely, comforting, modern hotel with the hot trendy Scandinavian vibe that's all the rage right now. Their open lobby is like a living room in a big beautiful home or lodge. Cozy fireplace with a bar on one side. Grab coffee or tea any time of day or night and relax by the fire, or engage in a jigsaw puzzle or game with your kids. The best part is that the location couldn't be more convenient. You can easily walk to shops, restaurants and the beach right across the street! The harbor is right there too so you can hop right over for your boating adventures. Chop, the steak house right next door is literally steps away. Famous Al Johnson's is a quick stroll (which is important to note since that place usually will form a line out the door early that lasts all day). We also enjoyed shopping, ice cream after dinner, bowling on rainy days, and Lure, the seafood restaurant (similar to Chop with emphasis on sea). Plus it's an easy drive into Ephraim, Fish Creek or Egg Harbor to enjoy what the other towns have to offer as far as shopping or dining. (I think Fish Creek has the best shopping. While my husband and sons are boating, that's my jam!) The hotel rooms all come with balconies or patios. There's a nice open courtyard with a fire table to enjoy later, or at happy hour (Chop next door has a happy hour, but so does the hotel bar). I think it would be cool if they brought a rolling bar outside for happy hour on the patio...Chop might not like that tho. The hotel rooms are padded with modern comforts one expects these days. Unless you or someone you know owns a cabin up here (which can be great too), why bother to stay somewhere else?

There's plenty of parking in the lot in front, complete with a fountain and foliage. The inn is the perfect blend between inn and B&B. The owner checked me in with a warm welcome but was blessedly brief. He told me what I needed to know but unlike most B&Bs he didn't tell me his life story. I appreciated the ability to get to my room faster. I initially found this place because I came with my sister a decade ago and needed a place with two beds which this inn had. My room this time was on the second floor. There are no elevators so if you don't do stairs be sure to book a first floor room. Both levels have two cozy sitting places with comfy chairs. The first floor has a side porch with a comfy couch. First floor also has an honor bar with wine, soda, beer (spotted cow of course!) and a few little snacks. And a 24 hour coffee machine. The rooms are all nice. This time I had a ridiculously large suite because I booked last minute and it's all that was available. But wow! It was impressive. The sitting area has two sumptuous chairs thick enough to cozy my full body into with legs curled up, and arms wide enough to rest books on. There's a wet bar and the fridge works great. My ice packs even stayed solid in the little freezer element. The balcony has two chairs and is quite lovely. The shower is remarkably refreshing with nicely scented bath products. The sink is separate from the toilet and shower. Strangely the jacuzzi is out of the bathroom altogether and next to the bed which for me is a bizarre juxtaposition. The bed and pillows were comfortable enough that I slept quite soundly. The breakfast on the weekdays I was there was from 8-10a. The coffee was good although a little weaker than I make it at home. There's a menu and you can order as much as you want, all included in the room charge. Every morning included options of: orange or grapefruit, house made granola, variety of breads, vanilla yogurt, and a bakery item such as a muffin or slice of coffee cake. Then there were always three hot items such as scrambled eggs, ham, waffles with cherry. I loved the variety of choices and everything was delicious. I missed more fruit and would have like a banana or some in season fruit since it was summer. Everything was wonderful and this will continue to be where I stay whenever I visit door county.

We stayed in a corner room upstairs. The room was very clean. The room had windows facing the bay for a view of the water and the sunset, a fireplace (which we didn't use), king-sized bed, a couch and an easy chair. We had plenty of room to relax. The inn has two gazebos with comfortable outdoor furniture and yard games. There's also a well-appointed great room with a huge fireplace, comfortable leather furniture and board games for gathering inside with friends. A continental breakfast was served each morning in a dining room where guests have separate tables. The breakfast was not your average continental breakfast. They had several types of delicious pastries that changed each day, fruit, juices, good coffee, hard-boiled eggs, toast, bagels and a meat/cheese plate and a fresh berry yogurt parfait on request. My husband especially liked the pecan pie bars and I enjoyed the blueberry coffee cake, rhubarb muffins and chocolate croissants. We overate daily! We had a minor issue with our AC on day two of our visit. The staff called a technician out immediately and the issue was resolved while we went about our day. The only suggestions I have for improvement is that the internet is painfully slow and the mattress in our room needed replacing--you can only get so far on a foam pad on top an old mattress.
