Coach Madison Avenue is another place I've browsed frequently. I have my Coach Bags from a different era when they were made from subtle leather. Mine have lasted for years of use. My daughter gave me the change purse for a gift. She didn't use the wallet on the wrist band and gave it to me. It's so soft. I purchased my Coach Bucket Bag one Xmas as a gift for myself! I used to be a collector of bags and accessories. I try to use my bags but don't get dressed up as much now that I'm retired. Next time I visit this location and shop along Maddison Avenue I'll wear my bucket bag. This store has friendly customer service and the employees don't mind me looking. I sure hope it hasn't closed. It's been a while since I was in this neighborhood. I'm recommending you visit this Coach location. read more

This review is solely based on "The Coach Originals" Pop-Up Shop that was inside of this Coach Store on Madison Avenue from 9/7/19 - 9/15/19 in honor of and during New York Fashion Week. "The Coach Originals" Pop-Up featured Coach bags throughout the decades which included vintage style + new Coach bags, wallets, etc. All of the products created to be displayed within the shop were based on archived Coach designs and were centered around three specific categories: Restored, Remade and Remixed Coach products. Seeing the pop-up shop set up museum/exhibition style and viewing the restored, remixed and remade Coach bags/wallets, etc. in their respective sections was very nice. Coach bags in every shape, size, color....you name it and it was on display. Many of these bags were also available at reduced prices for purchase. We were able to utilize various services during "The Coach Originals" Event: 1.) Coach Rental - A service that provided individuals the opportunity to rent restored Coach vintage bags. 2.) Coach Create - A service that gave people the ability to purchase items in the pop-up shop to customize/personalize their own Coach bags 3) Coach Cares - A.service that I happily used as there were staff on site to clean our personal Coach bags. Valentino is the sweetheart in the Coach Cares section that cleaned + restored my Coach bag that I have had for 20 years....He blessed me with quality outstanding service and made my Coach bag look brand new (please refer to the pictures of him cleaning and then holding my bag after he completed his work). So Beautiful! Thank you Valentino! "The Coach Originals" not only sold Coach bags, wallets, etc. but also sold cleaning products and other items in their "Goodies" section so that one can maintain the "bag beauty". My father gave me a coach leather attache which was well used but serviceable but needed a new handle. i contacted them twice through their website but they never replied and I eventually had a local shop make a handle. A real coach handle would have been better but they couldn't even be bothered to write me and tell me I was on my own with it. read more

The Collaboration with Gary Baseman has moved Coach to a 4 star kinda place!! I normally avoid writing reviews for chains but the fact this collaboration has impressed me so much, I had to make an exception. This place is hip enough to realize a talented artist when they see one. Gary Baseman created a special leopard pattern specifically for the line and also created creatures. I specifically love Buster Le Fauve, a cutesy leopardy guy. I wish I could afford the nineties-esque leopard coat or purse or the super cool feminine blouses with Baseman creatures. The hand knit sweaters are a winter staple. I also had my eye set on a white leather backpack and giant studs. Beautiful! Every time I come here the employees are helpful but also borderline pushy. I guess that's how they make the money. Tip: A lot of the Baseman collection is on sale now! So hurry up! read more

I splurged in August 2009 and bought the most expensive bag I've ever bought - imagine my surprise when the handle broke not even one full year later. I took my bag to this store to see if they could send it out to get fixed and unfortunately, they didn't think they would be able to. I was slightly annoyed but then the woman who was helping me told me they would give me full credit back for the bag and I could go pick out anything I'd like to replace it. SWEET! I really wasn't expecting that, what great customer service! Now the sales people can be a bit pushy, but overall I felt like they were really trying to help me to find a suitable replacement. Of course, one tried to show me a $800 bag when my credit was for $400, so I just smiled and continued on. I found the perfect replacement and hope I don't have to come back next year with the same problem! read more

This is the nicest Coach store I've ever stepped foot in. If you can get over the awe and novelty of the signature C-ed handles on the double door entrance, you'll enter a leather haven with mostly non-pushy salespeople. They've got a wide-selection of accessories and clothing (most Coach stores don't have any apparel at all), a whole wall of sunglasses (most stores have a mini-case), a jewelry case with watches, etc. Then you notice a staircase and you wonder "Wait, can I go UP there? This Coach store is TWO levels?!" Yes, dear. It's true. There is a whole other floor full of more coach! A Coach SHOE department. Coach jackets, more Coach Coach Coach. Bottom line: if you like Coach, you'll love this store. read more

I love Coach and I love (to infinite + 1) Suzy the store manager. Both of them together are a customer's dream! I was looking for a limited addition satchel and was totally late to the party. It sold out online within a few hours and I didn't discover it until a few weeks later. This is where most people drink a bottle of wine and move on, but I'm stubborn and I go all Veruca Salt when it comes to fashion and accessories that are unavailable. DON'T CARE HOW... I WANT IT NOW! Of course I'm not a troll bitch from hell like Veruca, but I knew I wanted that satchel. Badly. So I called up this store (politely as one should) and Suzy said she'd be on the look out which usually means, "If I remember you later and I hear about it being available, I might call you back." But Suzy was genuinely on a mission and obviously takes her job seriously and cares about the customers. She found the satchel all the way in California after a few hours (this Sunday) and it was delivered all the way to the Upper East Side in NYC (Tuesday) and she also made sure I got my 30% discount credited. I love this new satchel and there is no way I would have gotten it without Suzy's help. I can't thank her enough. If you need to find a Coach product, contact her. I like to purchase luxury goods so I'm used to very thorough customer service... Coach would fall in the lower end of the luxury market but I do like it for small gifts. I've had good experiences with Coach products but this review is PURELY about THIS store and how VICIOUS its sales force is. The sales people here are ALWAYS following you around asking you if they can "scan" your purchase. They're so hungry for that commission that it makes their customers highly HIGHLY uncomfortable. Been here several times but always leave within 5 minutes due to unneccessary pressure by staff. However, last time I was here, I spent 4 figures on leather bags, shoes AND gifts and was incessantly hounded by salespeople - actually while I was getting my purchases wrapped a 2nd saleslady intercepted me when I was trying to add something to my purchase. EVEN THOUGH SHE DIDNT HELP ME AT ALL. So pushy! I ended up letting her scan it bc I couldn't find the first lady, even though she did NOT deserve that commission and I really wanted to scream at her for being annoying and pushy. The kicker, she actually sent me a thank you card for shopping with her... even though the 1st saleslady really should have gotten the sale. This makes me soooooooo angry when I think about it, even to this day. Next time I will visit another Coach store where there is less oppresive pressure by the sales force (i've had much better experiences on 5th Ave). read more

I came here yesterday to buy a new purse, and was thrilled with the level of service I received. My salesperson was a bit pushy, but overall respectful of my financial limitations. I had a $100 coupon off of a $300 purchase, which was pretty helpful in bringing down the cost of the bag -- the Madison sophia bag in black. Everyone in the store spoke to me on a first-name basis, and even the security guard had a smile on his face. How kind. read more

My husband and I popped in after a run in the park, on our way back to our hotel. Even though we were sweaty and in t-shirts we were treated with the upmost respect and friendliness. I ended up getting a practical, yet on-trend handbag as a souvenir from our trip. All of the staff were so nice, Craig ended up being our main sales guy. The store is pretty huge, easy to get lost but they have almost everything you'd want. Except they don't have adequate supplies of the planner accessories and their papers. The staff is lovely though. Went here once and I might come back again if I ever need anything. read more

Background: My well-off relatives from China came over to the States to visit for the first time. My mom was free that day and decided to bring them to the city. We went to multiple high-end stores and spent thousands of dollars. Um. Scratch that. They did. I bought nothing. Not exactly how I was raised. Cheapness is well instilled in me, but I was impressed by most stores except for this one. So very very unimpressed. It is so apparent that this store is based on commission; all the sales associates tried to "help" you, but really, they were just pushing items onto you. Next, it is so disorganized! I know that being Coach and all that they believe they are high and mighty and that they trust in the quality of their product-good for you- but we want to inspect it before we buy it if we are spending thousands of dollars on it! So, is it a surprise that I find the way their store work super annoying? 1) sales associate push products on you and then scan it when you finally give in. (actually, my relatives did like the product so I guess I can't say give in...) 2)once sales associate are done with scanning your item, you mean nothing to them and they point you in the direction of the cashier 3) ONE working cashier when the store is all packed. They get your name, you pay, they give you a receipt and tell you to stand at the windows- you don't know if they got your model correct and when you get the product, it is all wrapped up that you have to unwrap it to inspect it. What a waste of wrapping paper! Ugh. But what also annoyed me is that they steal the 'sale' from each other. My aunt was helped by this one sales associate who was pushing item on us, but, because we were debating and taking a long time, she gave us some space (thank you). But, upon decision and when we tried to get her back, another sales associate just put us into her scanner, though we told her we were being help. When the other lady got back, this new lady just stood her ground. I felt so bad for the first lady. It is disgusting to me, so uncivilized! But there is more...the store is packed with mainly asian tourists who don't speak enlish too well. I was not one of them (grammar is another story), yet--they spoke to me like I didn't understand English and I felt belittle when I was helping my aunt pay at the cashier. If you ask me how, I'm not sure if I can explain it, but the interaction made me feel that way. Oh, and the jacket that my uncle purchased turns out to be defective but we already ripped off the tag, so...we'll see how that works out when we try to exchange it. Overall: I am obviously displeased and unimpressed. I don't usually go to high-end stores but when I do become able to (and I will) , I would not go here. I would also not recommend bringing friends or relatives here. Given, it might have been the time we've decided to show up (5-6pm on a Sunday), since it was crowded, but it really left a bad experience for me. I think it's really funny that there's a Chanel bag posted for this store. I am not a big coach girl. I haven't been since high school. But we decided to stop in, and I was pleasantly surprised. I think their designs have gone from diaper bag/mommy hip to more sleek and sexy over the years. Maybe they have a new designer? I haven't been keep up... I like their suede line in the different colors - camel, green, purple. Very cute for going out... but I don't think I'll be buying a Coach bag anytime soon (I'm still on a one bag per year self agreement... and I'm going for another Chanel or Bottega!) The service was great - the staff was not pretentious at all and was happy to help us. Ummm, first of all, why on earth is there a picture of FAKE Chanel and Coach bags that are obviously being sold by some cheesy street vendor associated with reviews of such a reputable store? Anyway.... This is by far, my favorite Coach store in the entire USA! It's the flagship store of NYC and hands down, the best place to buy your Coach goods! Keeping in mind that I am NOT a fan of the logo style merchandise (it looks cheap and it's been overhyped and knocked off by way too many street vendors...refer to aforementioned photo), I do love the high quality leather lines that Coach offers. I really appreciate the classic, timeless styles. I'm thrilled that they recently relaunched their Legacy leather line (inspired by original Coach designs from the 1960's) and have been inspired to purchase 2 bags from this line for myself. The store itself is beautiful - big and spacious, with clean lines of decor that make it easy and fun to shop there. Coach stands behind their products - and their products last a lifetime! Though the average price of their merchandise has skyrocketed in the last 5 years, I'm happy to splurge once in a while, knowing I am getting my money's worth in quality. The staff at this location is amazingly attentive, friendly and helpful. Mary has worked with me several times now and I always leave there more than satisfied with the customer service I get. I even received a lovely hand written note from her, thanking me for shopping at her store...a personal touch that will keep me coming back as a loyal Coach customer! read more

Beware a certain Chinese-speaking sales woman on the second floor. She is dishonest and sheer mean. My mother-in-law and my wife went there shopping this afternoon for a gift. They picked a satchel and asked for a new one. She had them pay for the bag on the second floor and then told them to wait for the bag downstairs. To pull wools over their eyes, she put back the sample bag on the shelf in front of my mother-in-law. My wife asked a sales clerk (a young guy, who brought down the bag) whether the bag was new, he said "yes, It's brand new." (collusion?) When they got home, they realized they were duped. She sold them the sample bag despite assurances that she would get them a new one from the warehouse. To make her behavior even more despicable, when I went back to return the shapeless sample bag with exposed zipper heads and no filling tissues, I was shocked to learn that there were 4 new bags of exactly the same color and design sitting in their warehouse. This is outrageous. Maybe she mistook my wife and my mother-in-law for tourists and maybe because she thought they were easy picks as they were Chinese. Is the store aware of such behavior? Regardless, she lacked any basic decency in dealing with customers. Such behavior is inexcusable. And her behavior reflects badly on the store and Coach! Used to be a big fan until today. I've been buying coach for +25 years, since they had the best return/repair policy. If something fell apart they'd just return or repair it. NO LONGER. COACH New York, does not stand behind their products. I sent 3 of my purses to be evaluated for repair services, as one was loosing its color, and the other two the material was looking old, I don't use my purses all the time so it was no reason for the discoloration and the wear out looking. the factory sent back purses with letter indicating sorry, we can offer you a discount on a regular product. No replacement, no repair. Just too bad. DONT RECOMMEND THIS BRAND, AS IT IS NOT STANDING BY THE WARRANTY THEY CLAIM. :( read more

Went in looking for some boots, the sales rep was reluctant to help but when she did she was not very helpful, I had to suggest the idea of her doing a search of their inventory to see if any other store had the boots in stock she walked away came back 5 minutes later stating that she did and no one had them. A few days later I happen to be near the Coach in Westfield, NJ, I went in to ask for the boots on the off chance they'd have them, they didn't but the sales rep was more than happy to search their inventory to see if she could find them in another store and sure enough she did the search and found them for me. Customer service is key and this store has horrible service!!!! read more

I must say the staff exemplified pristine customer service. I visited this location at near closing and was pleasantly greeted by security then helped by Laura Stalldecker. Her personable assistance made me appreciate good old fashioned client service that is almost a forgotten commodity today. As she assisted me with their fantastic handbag collection, we proceeded to shoes and ready to wear. I was sold on 2 boots and their signature varsity jacket. I wound up picking up the jacket at the flagship location, due to size. However, I have to give Laura credit as she styled me perfect. I will be a return and ongoing customer. Terrible customer service. Overcharged on my order but never admit. I emailed many many times asking for a explanation all I got is system calculated all cost so it's accurate. But after another few rounds they finally admit there is a $10 over charge but just simply said they will refund. Not even a sorry was given. I started to think maybe there is a possibility that their system was set to overcharge their customers and hope they won't find out. And even their customers find out all they do is simply refund whatever they overcharged for, no compensation or apology needed anyways. When I asked what if there is overcharge on duty fees and request a breakdown of duty fees by items they refused. And twice they promised someone will call me back but never, never a single call from Coach received. Terrible terrible experience ever and I hope more people could be aware of my experience. read more
