It is a rustic, outdoorsy camp, no cell phones allowed here! Camp Mah-Kah-Wee is a Girl Scout camp. They offer programs throughout they year for girls and have overnight camps during the summer. I have been to Mah-Kah-Wee many times over the years with my daughters, and I really appreciate that we have a facility like this so close to home. The camp surrounds a lake so there are many water activities like canoeing and kayaking available during the summer. There is also a swimming pool. They offer all of the standard camp activities like archery and crafts and they also have an obstacle course. My kids love this place. During the summer the week-long camps are themed so you can find something to match your child's interests. As for the facilities, the best place to stay is in the cabins. They have air conditioning! In Florida you NEED air conditioning in the summer. I've also chaperoned overnights in the tents, which aren't so bad, and a building they call the Eco Center, which is a bit more like a enclosed porch... no AC there. Overall, it's a great place. I highly recommend it. The prices for overnight camp are very good and the kids have a great time.

Especially in the winter time when it's absolutely freezing cold, no hay given to the horses and nothing but a muddy pasture for them to be in. Everyone that knows horses know they generate body heat, eating hay and that cold weather. As well, the floors of our stall in the barn at the back were dirt. When we first came to her barn, she showed us this giant pile of dirt that was going to be rotated in and the pee drenched Rotate it out. The dirt pile disappeared, but our horses stalls were so disgusting, they kept getting thrush because their stalls were never really clean. They don't have a round pen, and their arena was flooded 99% of the time. We are at a new barn now, and the change in our horses is almost magical. Their behavior was so bad at above and beyond that one of our horses kept trying to throw my daughter off. He never did that before we got to that barn and he hasn't done it since. Margot does not know how to care for horses properly and all she cares about is money

An Intellectual Playground for Curious Minds Finding a…read moredestination that manages to be both profoundly educational and genuinely captivating for children is rare, yet the Orlando Science Center, featured in image_2.png, achieves this balance with remarkable success. It is an ideal environment to dedicate an entire day to exploration, offering a depth of engagement that holds the attention of young minds while remaining intellectually stimulating. The facility's approach to hands-on exhibits is sophisticated and well-structured, fostering a genuine interest in scientific inquiry. From the intricacies of the planetarium shows to the immersive nature of the giant-screen and 3-D films, every element of the museum is curated to facilitate active learning. It is an impressive example of how to make complex subjects accessible and exciting for a broad audience. For any family seeking an environment where curiosity is not just encouraged but actively facilitated, this center stands out as a highly rewarding experience.

I…read morebecame a member of the Orlando science center over Christmas break because we had so much fun on our first visit and now I get emails all the time about fun new events going on at the museum. One of them happened to be the mess fest that was going on this past weekend. So we decided to head out to Orlando and let me tell you it was so much fun!! They transformed one of their rooms into a fun place for the kids to get messy. You were catapulting scrunchie balls covered in paint onto a canvas sheet. There was another area where they were doing little bottle rockets with paint and Alka-Seltzer. That my kids absolutely LOVED. They also had scribble bots, a raffle painting for canvas paintings but that's not all because they had other stuff going on different floors. We got to make our own slime and we even got to go outside and watch them use liquid nitrogen to cause a bubbly explosion that the kids got to play afterwards. This was a 10 out of 10 experience.

The teachers truly pay attention to the development of the children, which is so important to me. I had a teacher conference when my son was less than a year old to go over his developmental milestones and areas to work on! My mother is a retired speech and language pathologist who worked in the school system. She has always said how impressed she is at how engaged all of the children are no matter what time of day she is there. The level of interaction helps develop language, which she sees with my son at home. The amount of work they put into the children and their development is exemplary. From the front desk to the kitchen, everyone knows my son, not just his name, but they REALLY know him! Just this weekend, he could tell me animal sounds for animals I've never taught him about! Not only that, but he can understand and respond in English and Spanish, some of the Spanish I don't even know! At almost two, my son is happy and thriving. Being a working mother, it is hard to leave your baby every day. But, I know that he is in the great and capable hands of people that love him and are truly there to teach and inspire him and I couldn't ask for more!

Creative world in Avalon park was one of the worst mistakes I could have made. The management team…read morewas disrespectful and unprofessional. One of many prime examples could consist of: talking negatively about families behind their backs, or with other employees. The management team was also biased towards workers and students. You clearly could see favoritisms, and strong dislikes. One employee may get in trouble for being on their phone, while others get away with it day in and day out. One child may be targeted for a possible delay in development, while other children with severe behavioral troubles are overlooked, not given guidance to get the right help. Frustrations amongst the management team were often taken out on the employees which hindered their abilities to give the children the quality care they deserve. Creative world Avalon park is all about money. They enroll too many children at times, so they don't have to turn somebody away and lose out. Therefore that would lead to full rooms and sometimes being too short staffed, often resulting in the children having to be shuffled to a different room, leaving the kids with no stability. You may drop off in one room but that doesn't mean that's where a child stays all day. There was a child, way to young for a classroom, still on bottles, who had to sit at the table to have the bottle instead of being held, and having that one on one social interaction. This was all due to being over full in the proper room this child belonged in, and being shuffled to a higher aged room. Furthermore, what the parents ask or want is mostly a no go. Parents don't have a say if their child is on a bottle come a certain room, if their child still uses a pacifier or lovey, that all stops in certain rooms regardless of the parents want, or what comforts the child. Management was also lazy at times, not giving their full effort towards the daycares proper functioning. Examples could include: times passing by in the main lobby, where management was either on their phone, or sitting making beaded bracelets. Another example, even on extra short staffed days, it was far and few in between you'd pass by a classroom and see management step up and into a classroom to help it run a bit more smoothly. This daycare holds no value. The employees deserve a non toxic, supportive, stable environment and creative world Avalon park does not offer that. Children also deserve these same things and then some, in order to have the quality care they deserve, which is often hard to be fulfilled due to the treatment and emotions caused by management. The number of people that left creative world, or un-enrolled their children, is plentiful, and that is only the tip of the iceberg. I highly recommend looking further than the friendly smiles that greet you at the door when you walk into creative world Avalon park. There's better out there.
