I have no complaints about Coach House other than being the youngest diner in the joint, and I am 61 years old. That aside, the food is basic, well prepared and priced appropriately. Get the beef tips--they are quite good as are the burgers. When you tell the waitstaff you want it medium rare, it is. Like I said, it isn't fancy. [I counted tables and parties.] After a longer than expected wait, for a place that seemed very quiet, a staff member looked at us "Two?" I said yes. Zero quality control and shitty management. My friend and I ordered fish chowder and the seafood platter to split. The soup had a funny taste to it and we chose to let it slide. Once our entree came we both agreed that all the seafood except the shrimp had an off taste to it. We made the server aware in which she immediately apologized and offered us to order something else off the menu. I ordered a BLt. Although, it was just fine, it was also nothing to write home about and could have also used more bacon. My friend ordered the hot turkey sandwich. Besides the turkey being dry the gravy was so coagulated it was unappealing! She took ONE bite and spit it out into her napkin, it was so bad. I've seen my friend enjoy many hot turkey sandwiches over the years at many other restaurants and she has never not enjoyed one. We let the server know and she offered for her to pick something else off the menu In which she chose to not take anymore chances. When the server brought the check, mind you the manager NEVER came to the table, not even to apologize or follow up; she said management removed the seafood platter only but would not take off the turkey sandwich. When we were cashing out my friend asked to speak to the manager but we were informed "it is a shift lead not manager on duty". I told my friend it makes no sense in mentioning anything because this place didnt care. Well a young girl comes out full of attitude with a prideful face asking who wanted to speak to the manager. My father and I stopped here while out for a Sunday drive. They were only serving breakfast (not brunch, just their regular breakfast menu). We were hungry so we stayed to gave breakfast for our lunch. Dad ordered a blueberry pancake (his favorite cooked breakfast meal), I had the "Downeaster Benedict"... his pancake arrived and it was cold, not warm enough to melt the butter he tried to spread. My Benedict was AWFUL. The hollandaise sauce is served on the side, but it was cold. The corn beef hash (instead of ham) was ok, the poached eggs were under cooked (the yolk AND the whites were runny), the "home fries" were AWFUL. I ate a few bites of the Benedict and gave up. Each bite was as bad as the previous bit. Dad managed to finish his pancake.. which had maybe five blueberries in it. The server apologized and gave us a discount .. $2.00... Omelets are very small, all meats are the precooked that you just reheat, sausage links were black they were so over cooked. I was hungry, driving back home from Mt. Dessert Island and this was a gem of a place on our way. The staff were lovely and the food was great! I love breakfast and they had the best! I had the big breakfast and my friend had the Farmers breakfast. Both were great! The big breakfast is really big with pancakes, toasts, eggs the way you like, bacon or sausage and potatoes. Went in for a late (1pm) lunch today. Nice greeting at the hostess stand, and I was quickly seated at a booth for 1. I know most restaurants are short staffed so I knew to be patient. Waiting 10 minutes to see my waitress was a little too long (I almost returned to the hostess station and asked for carry out.) Lunch was a simple tuna melt which was good. The sides of French fries and Cole slaw was ok. Coleslaw was not to my taste but it's always a crap shoot. I just think management should have a way to tell servers when a table has been seated. It was clear she had no idea I was there before she delivered someone else's lunch. read more

We came here for a lunch and by the size of the menu I could see why some dishes are probably dated and just taking up good space in the kitchen. I had the Reuben and she had the open faced beef sandwich. Mine was great. Hers was not. Sometimes I think she needs to let me order for her . Hers was a train wreck, beef no flavor. Gravy no flavor. My boys and I entered the Coach House Restaurant, hoping to have breakfast; as always -- because it is absolutely necessary -- my older son was carrying a closed plastic container with dry cereal and an unopened bottle of orange juice. This is survival for him; he cannot order anything to eat ANYWHERE because there are always mystery ingredients or there is cross-contamination, and he has been to the hospital before because of a reaction to a restaurant's food (we had done a thorough allergy check with the cook, who neglected to mention a critical ingredient). When my sons and I entered the Coach House Restaurant, we were met at the door by an employee who said we could not bring our own food into the restaurant; I calmly explained to her that my son has severe food allergies so he cannot eat restaurant food. She left and consulted with another employee, who then came to see us and repeated that we could not bring our own food into the restaurant; I calmly explained again that there was no way that my son could eat anything from their restaurant because of his food allergies. We come here often and never had really poor service like we did today. Our waitress Ruth forgot about us. Some other waitress brought us water. Then after a while our waitress finally took our order. After our food finally arrived, the pancakes tasted bitter. They had a glob of danish filling on the top of each pancakes. We never received our bacon until I finally realized that Ruth was not bringing them to us and ended up saying something to her. This experience really clouded our other visits. Ive been holding off on doing this review because I wanted to like this place. I did. We came into town and decided to have my son and his boyfriend out for brunch. They chose this place as my boyfriend and I dont live in the area. Checked the menu online and everything looked fine. i ordered a mimosa and sat down to look at the menu. i decided on the steak and eggs. My boyfriend had biscuits and gravy. My son and his boyfriend got pancakes and something else that escapes me. im a big drinker, I told our waitress I am as well. I kept having an empty mimosa glass. They could have made so much more money on me, but our waitress was not attentive. Also, the mimosa was very orange which means its light on the champagne and heavy on the orange juice. I've really only ever been here for breakfast, but we've liked it both of the times we've been here. It's exactly what you think it is - fast, efficient, and reasonably priced food. It's nothing more than that, but there's also nothing wrong with being that. I like patties - and I would have sworn that they had them the last time I was in - but the waitress informed me that they only had links - the patties were turkey sausage. I'm trying to watch my calories, but I that's a bit far for me. I want real sausage, so I took a chance on the links, which I find sometimes to be fatty, or not well-cooked. My sister had the scrambled eggs, too, only she ordered bacon instead, as well as their "home fries", which are better named "home slabs" - they're the same type of cut one would use for scalloped potatoes, only they're fried. My eggs were fine (granted, hard to screw up), NOT watery or runny at all, as another reviewer experienced. The links were quite good and well done, which is how I prefer them. I liked the coffee, my sister didn't, considering it was weak. She likes her coffee to be able to bench press 400lbs - the kind that dissolves the spoon, the bottom of the mug, the table, your foot, and then the floor. I do not like that kind of coffee. Her meal was satisfactory, too, The bacon was good and plentiful, and the home fries were good, also, although they were lackluster in regards to flavor. Something like that cries out for onions and garlic to jazz them up a bit. The service was fast and friendly - but then, we were there early, long before the Sunday morning rush. We'll keep this place on our rotation of acceptable breakfast places for when she and my friend visit. That's pretty good praise for us. We're a picky lot. read more

Okay it's basically a diner. Cheap decor, cheap service, cheap food. It's a fine place to go for a quick bite to eat if you're in a hurry and/or don't want to spend much cash, but it's nothing special. It's the kind of place where you always see the elderly couple having the senior citizen's special of liver and onions. (Not that there is anything wrong with that per se, it's just not the type of establishment that I prefer to spend my eating out money in). There are dozens of much, much better places to eat within 3 to 5 miles so unless you are basically looking for a small step up from McDonald's both in price and food, I'd definitely recommend looking elsewhere. read more

We decided to take our family here and were hoping for a delicious breakfast. After being served our breakfast my wife discovered that the eggs in her western omelet and a smaller amount of the eggs in my scrambler omelet were raw. When we mentioned this to the waitress she was really surprised because they microwaved the dishes. She first said she would get both plates taken off the bill, but after the staff examined both plates of the not fully cooked eggs they decided that because my wife ate half of her eggs, and that I ate most of what I had been served we only had half the cost of her plate discounted. Please be careful with a restaurant that doesn't consider any amount of raw eggs a concern. Deeply disappointed mostly because this restaurant used to care more about their customers and quality. In my opinion they've lost their way, this restaurant isn't as clean as it used to be and overall they don't seem to care. read more

People who grew up in Brewer know this place as "the Roach house" For some reason old people insist on going there probably cause it's dirt cheap, but you get what you pay for, inedible dirt. The Eagles Nest in North Brewer is a better option. Also City Side and Judy's. All affordable but edible!! I think this place has great potential, but they were out of everything I wanted to try. What I did have though (a simple salad and an order of wings) was amazing, best wings I've had in a very very long time. They're not breaded and almost have a roasted texture, and the sauce was a typical Franks/tobasco type buffalo but wasn't as pungent and had an ever so slight hint of sweetness below the spice.
