Being a M&S Simply food store you'd think there wasn't much to this place, but you'd be wrong…read more At the left hand side of the store is a decent size M&S cafe which does the usual cafe range which is usually restricted to larger size M&S stores. We've had the occasional lunch here on a weekend and the food is good and the service is what you would expect. One of these days we'll have to pop in and try their Afternoon Tea which is currently being subtlety promoted. The store itself has all the standard M&S foods which they somehow managed to cram into this tiny little store. It even has a small bakery for fresh breads and pastries and a small freezer section. For those on the go there's a small sandwich and party food section behind the min entrance, where you can grab a sandwich and get to the self service tills rather than fighting your way through the store just for a bit for lunch. It's always busy at the weekends, especially when they do a meal deal (best to go as soon as the advert airs on TV so that you don't miss out.) but if you time it right you can occasionally have the place to yourself to browse without tripping over the staff or having to dodge other customers baskets. As a vegetarian there is a decent choice available and M&S are slowly expanding their vegi options ( I'm not just thinking about their range of Veggie Percy Pigs, Colin the caterpillars, etc - honest ) however is is a bit frustrating when you see a nice desert on the TV adverts and find you can't have it because it contains Gelatine :-( Overall it's nice, good (slightly pricy) food, handy when you want a light lunch or hot drink, but best to avoid at peek times.

Here lies Asda... without the groceries…read more Downstairs is positively chocka with clothing: ladies, men's, kids, you name it. There's a decent-sized selection of shoes, too. Since it's all George clothing, not terribly well made, and as far as I can gather the sizing can be pretty inconsistent, I don't shop here. I have been through a few times, though, to reach the toiltetries at the back. The toiletries section isn't particularly big, but there are usually offers on and a reduced section to pick from. I've found my usual body wash here a few times for half the original price, which is a treat. They also sell a limited seleciton of hair dyes, cosmetics, and perfumes. The upstairs contains all sorts of delights. From a cheap book section, to electricals, DVDs, toys, and furnishings, you can pretty much stock up on anything you might need around the home. They have a lot of kitchenware, including the cheapest selection of wine glasses I've ever seen. The DVDs and electricals sold here certainly aren't the cheapest you can find, but it's handy I suppose. They also stock computer games for Wii, X-Box and the like. Overall, a massive selection and lots of cheap homewares. The clothes are good if you like cheap and dislike shopping at the actual supermarket. Oh, and there's a café upstairs if you want to have a wee sit down and a cup of coffee.

Okay, I don't want to blow your mind too much here - but this is an Asda shop that DOESN'T SELL…read moreFOOD. Yes, you did read that right. Instead, this store houses a large range of George clothing, lots of shoes, electrical items, DVDs, CDs, home cleaning items and home ware such as pillows, bed spreads etc. You'll also find smaller home furnishings such as picture frames, candles and lamps. Basically, this store has all the fun (and cheap/good value) stuff that you'll find in a supermarket without the tedium of all the food aisles. I must admit that I am a bit of a fan. Among other things, from here I've bought pyjamas, a freeview box, portable phones, DVDs and a mop. Pretty much everything one could ever want! It's based in the Glasgow Fort Shopping Centre, which is another one of my favourite shopping places. There is more parking than you could even imagine and it's all free.
