It's not bad as there's no tesco or Asda so it's basically the supermarket for the town. The products are good, the only problem is the staff. Alot of the staff seem stuck up and rude. Pipe down you work in the Co op. read more

Almost by default, Irvine's is my newsagent of choice on the Royal Mile, as on principle I refuse…read moreto put up with old misery guts that works in The Scottish Grocer just a few doors down. It's exactly as you'd expect from a newsagent, stocking papers, mags, sweets, drinks and fags. There's also a few Scottish bits and bobs for sale, but it doesn't appear to be the main focus. It's a very small shop, so there's not a huge amount of choice, but the friendly atmosphere keeps their noses in front of the rest.
As Gavin has already mentioned, Irvine's isn't the largest newsagents around but boy to they know…read morehow to make the most of the size and it's full to bursting with goodies. I popped in here the other day for a magazine to read on the train and some chewing gum and I also noticed that this place has a really nice friendly atmosphere. As far as newsagents goes, this one is pretty darn good!
'Meh' is right on…read more This on-campus cornershop just about does the job when the study stomach rumbles kick in but when it comes to fresh produce, I'm consistently disappointed with the quality of the fruit. Stock is limited, prices are higher than other supermarkets and it generally makes for a cramped shopping experience. I grab and go. As fast as I can. On the plus side, staff couldn't be nicer and the asian food section is very reasonable. But avoid the sad, poorly fruit section!

It is a little…read moretreasure trove of corner shops and you will find jams, frozen meals, fruit & veg, fresh morning rolls, to sweets a plenty and alcohol. They often have deals on with bottled bears and Bazardi Breezers and they are often an absolute bargain. I came here last summer as I was making a family meal and I had forgotten to buy tomatoes which were a pretty important ingredient. I nipped along the Tesco Express just a few doors along but they had sold out. Oh dear. Not really sure what to do I decided to give this little store a try. As soon as I popped in the door I was greeted by a box of red, ripe, juicy tomatoes, phew! I bought around 4 and they came to about 80p, what a bargain! The woman working that day was really helpful and chatted to me as she was bagging my tomatoes so I decided to share my tomato based disaster with her. Thank goodness Value Convenient Store saved the day!
Spar may be one of the smaller supermarkets of St Andrews, and is hidden away more than the others,…read morebut it has its benefits. Being located close to the health centre and closest to the Lamond Drive area of town, Spar has a very good selection of goods for good prices, and best of all, it rarely has queues. Service is good and quick. Unfortunately its selection cannot meet that of nearby Morrisons, and its prices not that of nearby Aldi, but for a small all-round supermarket, Spar is just right!
There may be about a million different things in this store from ketchup (sauce) to riding crops…read more(saucy), but there is actually quite a limited choice for most things, the large car park out front makes the overall package an abomination of planning on the banks of the Firth of Clyde. Also I do love spending all my time in there shopping around, and the staffs are very helpful and friendly. Even the car park is VAST and there is always a space to park my car, and it is never always that full, it is much roomier than compared to Greenock's Store. Even if the item are not on the shelf, you can be able to ask at the customer service desk, to order for one, and they will reserve it for you. Even you can be able to do online shopping from this store, and I cannot fault this store at all. It is brilliant store.

After mailing some postcards and breakfast at The Painted Rooster on the morning of Friday 19 July…read more2019, I was on my way on foot to Holyrood Park to do some hiking. I had packed some food and decided that if I passed a small store on the way I would stop and see if they had any last food item(s) I wanted for a morning of exploring. Nearing St John's Episcopal Church, I was seeing the stores thin out and spotted Tesco Express. I slipped into the store and quickly looked through the offerings. I went with a small snack/candy item. There was a short line, which while standing in I noticed a small case of Krispy Kreme donuts. I did not get one of those, but it was a reminder I was going back to the United State of America the following day. Oddly, or goodly depending on one's perspective, it made me want to stay in Scotland more than go back to America.

Love the skylight adding some class to the shop
Get your bits and bobs for the festivals (Recommended)…read more Pros: This store / information office is a great one stop shop for finding your feet at the festival. They have all the details on the plethora of shows and performances going on and the staff are very friendly and helpful - they seem to be genuinely interested in helping you make the most out of the festival. Cons: The range of goods for sale is limited - they could expand the merchandise quite a bit. It is a little out of the way too but this does mean that it's usually not heaving like the rest of the city in August.
Super convenient to my hotel, this place was a godsend. Anything you need from a munchy…read moreperspective, this place has it. People were always restocking shelves so you had plenty to choose from. We used both the self service and the manned checkout stands and they were equally efficient. Aisles were wide and the place was very tidy. If I lived nearby I would probably be in here every day.
This is one of the newer Tesco stores located in the central area in Sauchiehall street…read more This shop is well stocked with unusual imported foods that you would find hard to get in an international food store, I'm in general not a fan of Tesco and will only shop there if there is no where else open late. I find the security staff intimidating and rude I think one guy there has mummy issues and should really have counselling and not be taking his anger out on customers who do no wrong. The self service section is a joke as half of them have not been switched on and the one l used made me feel as if l just won the jackpot on a fruit machine in a pub, how can a shop justify paying a customer 62p change in 2p pieces. Ice cream that has been defrosted is being re frozen and sold again when l reported the issue to the duty manager he did nothing. Tesco sort yourselves out!
