Sunset Crab Roll
Kamilia L.

The weekly specials are a hit. HH 4-7 pm with drink specials daily including sushi specials 1/2 off on T/Th. Thats a great weekday experience. I was forewarned that the wagyu was removed so I went with my classic, a Sunset Roll. It was mostly cream cheese but my Lychee Tini was hit'n. I also indulged in the Katsu and Rangoon. I wanted a robust experience. To be honest this location isn't as good as Waverly. However, I do feel that its a great location with outside seating, too. I was pleasantly surprised as the space nestled in the Nook of the buildings. Try their udon. I got it too go and it was delicious. Great flavor!

Delicious blossom roll. Loved the kimchi sauce. Kids chicken strip meal was a good portion. Tons of parking in the plaza!

Beautiful presentation, but the flavors missed the mark Sunday errands had me in the area, and I originally just wanted to grab a banh mi. CO had been sitting in one of my Yelp Collections, so I decided it was finally time to give it a try. Located in Park Plaza, parking was plentiful and easy. I was warmly greeted when I walked in, and my first impression was great. The restaurant is beautiful inside, but since it was such a gorgeous day and they were seating outside, I happily chose a table on the patio. Along with the regular, drink and happy hour menus, I was given a menu featuring their new Bento Box Lunch. Curiosity won. I ordered the Chicken & Gyoza bento for $17: teriyaki chicken, pork and ginger gyoza, mixed green salad with carrot ginger dressing, maze gohan onigiri rice and a shoyu egg. When it arrived, it was beautiful. Everything was neatly compartmentalized and visually very appealing. Unfortunately, the flavors didn't live up to the presentation. The biggest issue was balance. The teriyaki chicken was overwhelmingly sweet. The gyoza had a nice ginger-forward flavor, but the accompanying dipping sauce was so salty that I couldn't really enjoy it. I eventually broke apart the onigiri and used the plain rice to temper some of the sweetness and saltiness. Ironically, my favorite thing was probably the salad. Fresh, crisp and delicious. My only quibble was that some of the greens were quite large for something being eaten with chopsticks; smaller, bite-sized pieces would have made it easier to enjoy. Service was pleasant and well-intentioned, although a little too attentive for my preference. Sometimes when I'm dining solo, I simply want to enjoy my meal quietly without frequent check-ins or conversation, and I would have appreciated a little more space. I really wanted to love this one. The setting was lovely, the presentation was beautiful and the menu has some genuinely interesting dishes--including laksa, which caught my eye. But after such an uneven experience with something as straightforward as teriyaki chicken and gyoza, I'm hesitant to venture into the more complex dishes. Would I return? Maybe. There was enough here that I'd be willing to believe I simply ordered the wrong thing. But the Bento Box wouldn't be my choice again. Life is too short not to eat well, sleep well or travel well. Get out there and find your next destination!

The move is to come on Tuesday or Thursday from 4-7pm for their half off sushi rolls. Good sushi, nice ambiance, and great service.. we will be back!

First time trying this place. Wings were dry which was a bummer. Vietnamese ramen came out and it was missing the main protein: pork belly. Pork belly tasted good though. I added shrimp for $5. They were tiny shrimps. Laksa was okay. Food overall was expensive. Service could be better. Long wait to order and for the food to come out. It wasn't busy as this was around 7:30 pm on a Wednesday night. Ambiance is okay. Not sure if I will go back here after this experience.

I've had some mixed experiences here in the past...but I remember not quite loving the experience here last time. Still, I decided to give it another try. Well, immediately, I remembered why I didn't quite love this place. Just like last time, the place was literally freezing-cold. As much as I love A/C, this place goes over-the-top with the cooling. Then their outlandish price points! For instance, their Crispy Tuna Rice appetizer is priced at nearly 20 bucks. Really??? I've NEVER seen this appetizer priced so high...ANYWHERE...not even the swankiest places in NYC or LA. Then my order...Curry Laksa was 29 bucks, once I added Shrimp. BTW, they add 5 bucks for 4 small shrimps. What a rip-off! I really liked this dish way back...but this time, not so much. The curry broth was weak this time. The broth was much more yellow (versus more orange)...very diluted! While the veggies were fresh in this Laksa dish, they were just not that tasty. In the past, I remember appreciating the freshness of the veggies...but definitely not the variety that is at all appetizing. In short, this was the worst Curry Laksa from this place yet...while the most expensive. At Open Rice, you'll get a MUCH better, richer version of Curry Laksa, complete with fresh, tasty veggies, at fraction of the price! Even YaMe Noodles serves up a better bowl of Curry Laksa. Service was just OK. The place itself is quite fancy with its sprawling roof design...but they ruined the ambiance of the place by putting half the chairs up during dining hours (?!?)! Plus, no overhead music either. Just a ton of cold air and high pricing lol! I'm about done with this place. Their price points are truly ridiculous...especially given their mediocre foods. I could only down half of my Curry Laksa bowl (Just not that good!)...and I left feeling quite ripped off (again)! Think I should know better not to return here again.

I have consistently received both great service and food since they opened. Never been disappointed or felt gouged or undervalued here. And tonight with friends was as expected. Thanks for years of getting it right! Has my "Give 'em a Whirl" meter smiling every time I am nearby. Go here.

This restaurant was so good! The service was incredibly friendly and fast and they even sat us very quickly. The meal was a bit more expensive than we were prepared for but they shared the best nights to go for half priced sushi or small plates so we can come back and enjoy more for less. I definitely think it was worth the splurge and parking is easy in the park road shopping center. Delicious food and great dining experience.

C.O. is a Charlotte classic that can be trusted regardless of any changes to our food scene. I became a fan over 10 years ago and, no matter how much time passes between visits, they never disappoint. Love the Drunken Noodles w/steak--perfectly cooked noodles with just enough spice to keep it interesting. You also can't go wrong with the Malaysian wings or crispy edamame spring rolls--if only this was what it meant to eat our veggies as kids! Of all the cuisine types available in the QC, Asian is where I find us to lack the most. C.O. for the win every time!

My favorite restaurant in Charlotte. Always delivers. The Blossom Roll was excellent. Justin provided top notch service and made the experience fantastic. Coming back soon.

We LOVE this place we have been coming here for years. The food is always top notch. And the service is wonderful. The ambiance is so comfortably and cozy. The last time we went our waiter Alston went above and beyond for us. He was great. If you are thinking about trying this place you won't be disappointed. Give it a try.

(CO)LD nights call for CO! However I recommend going during any time of the year! The giant structure from the center of the bar spreading out against the ceiling brings instant vibes. Very cool indoor area and nicely/dimly lit, but also offers outdoor seating tucked in a little alley on the side of the building. Parking is easy as it's in Park Rd Shopping Center. Drinks were great, food was fantastic, and service was great too! When I asked for to-go boxes for leftovers, the waitress brought them to the table but cleared the food and packed it all up in front of me.

Asian crunch salad

Great food & service. Chill atmosphere and fun happy hour menu. First tried CO in Charleston and was excited to see they expanded to Charlotte. Asian crunch salad is my fav!

So his choice was here. Google directions suck they took us around the back to the parking garage for the 2nd level and since we have never been here before it took us a few minutes to figure out how to get down to the first level. When we entered there was a waiter taking an order and no one else on the floor so we had a little bit to get seated even though there were only two other parties in the restaurant. We were able to sit wherever we wanted so I sat with a view of the screen with the replay of the Brazil FIFA game on. My husband wanted the unagi don but didn't order because the price seemed high. The table next to us all ordered bowls and the serving size was huge so my husband regretted it. We order takoyaki, spicy wings, and 3 rolls Godzilla, Hadouken, and Master Roshi. The wings had amazing flavor but were not spicy. Takoyaki was flavorful and the perfect temperature. I get a lot of takoyaki that is entirely too hot and have to crack them open to cool before eating them. My husband did not enjoy the Godzilla roll he said the topping was too much and didn't add to the flavor. But enjoyed the other two. I enjoyed all three rolls the flavor was fresh and very little need for soy sauce fine without it. If we are ever in Charlotte with time to eat I would stop here again.

The menu has so many great things on it, and skipping the tuna flight might darn well be criminal. You're gonna enjoy that quite a bit. The service team there is long tenure and really knows what they're doing. They just got a new general manager, and she's got great energy and standards of excellence around her. The AGM is the best dang manager you're ever gonna see! When I have close friends in town, who really want great meal, this is one of the places that we will for sure go. To a great walkable area and while the youngsters there tried to get all the tail feathers up a little too much, don't let that bother you. We'd never tried Omakase before, but we've had other curated dining experiences. Upon arrival, we were seated immediately. Our waitress was pleasant, she started on beverages, and explained that the Omakase would be a two‑hour experience...totally fine. Within the first 20 minutes, our first dish arrived and it was excellent...But then...nothing. We waited, and waited, and waited. An entire hour passed before the next dish appeared. I pulled the waitress aside to check on the delay, she explained they had a sudden influx of customers but she'd ask the kitchen to move a little quicker. The food did start coming out after that, and the managers came over to address the delay, which I appreciated, but the damage was done. I wanted a memorable birthday experience for my daughter, and unfortunately it ended up being a bit of a disappointment considering the time and cost. The food itself was delicious, but poor pacing and lack of attention to the customer overshadowed the entire experience. I didn't ask for compensation but the managers took it upon themselves to comp my wine flight. I hope this was a one off experience but I can't say that I'll return to this restaurant.

We had never had any problems here until our most recent visit, when our server, Mauro M., took care of our table. We placed our order, and after our regular rolls were brought out, I asked whether he remembered that we had also ordered a specialty roll. He said yes, but later came back and told us that it was no longer available and that they no longer make it. That itself was not a big deal -- we could have simply ordered something else. What bothered me was that he did not tell us until I specifically asked about it. If I had forgotten, we might have just kept waiting for something that was never coming. When we received the check, the total was also higher than it should have been because the specialty roll that we never received was still included. He eventually brought us a corrected check. Because of the poor service and difficult communication, I left a smaller tip than I normally would. However, when I checked my bank account today, I noticed that the final amount charged to my card was higher than what I had authorized on the receipt. The difference was not large, and I disputed it through my bank, but for me this is about the principle. A server should never change the amount of a tip or charge a customer more than what the customer authorized. Because the experience had already been problematic from the beginning, I had a feeling something like this might happen, so I took photos of both receipts. First, we were charged for an item we never received, and then the final charge to my card was higher than the amount I actually authorized. We will still come back because we genuinely like this restaurant and have had many good experiences here. However, if Mauro M. is our server again, I will ask to be seated with someone else. Updated: The manager reached out to me, apologized, and assured me that they would take care of the issue, so I'm changing my rating to 5 stars. Bad situations can happen anywhere. What matters most is how a business responds, and I really appreciate that they listened to my concerns, took them seriously, and showed that they genuinely care about their customers.

The outside of the restaurant was giving industrial, dark vibes but the inside was very bright and sleek... the juxtaposition caught me off guard. There is ample seating inside. In terms of the service, our food arrived in a timely manner and our waiter was alright, a bit more laidback than I am used to but he got the job done. My friends and I ordered the Spicy Crunchy Roll, Coconut Shrimp Roll, Katsu Don, Okinomiyaki Fries, Karaage, and Matcha Green Tea Cheesecake. For our appetizers, both the Okinomiyaki Fries and Karaage were good! They were crispy to perfection. The Okinomiyaki Fries had a great umami taste, but I did not really enjoy the spicy mayo that came with the Karaage as it was a bit too tangy. My Spicy Crunchy Roll was very filling and flavorful, but not spicy. I tried dipping a bit into the soy sauce which tasted too high on sodium. I tried a bit of the Katsu Don (chicken) that my friend got and it was also delicious and came with a generous portion of chicken. The Matcha Green Tea Cheesecake tasted sweet but not too sweet and more like cheesecake than matcha, which I prefer. I will say upon checking my receipt, we were charged an extra $0.75 cents for the spicy mayo which we were not told of nor did we ask for it so... that is a bit weird. Overall, I think that this is a tasty spot for Japanese food! Lots of options that could appeal to most people. I would definitely come back to try their ramen.
