I have inquired about being a customer twice and was told to come in and pick up an application then was told that it had to go to the manager. They didn't give me an application to even fill out, I don't know what their problem is but I was looked down on with the attitude of how dare you even show up here. read more

I worked for CN BROWN as a cashier at one of their stores on 95 and was fired for calling I for the 1st time the day before Christmas 2024. I tied to get help from my territory manager and retail sales manager with no help offered. Af6er speaking to the head of HR I was informed all 3 (manager, territory manager and retail sales manager) lied to cover up my firing. Not a good company to work or do business with in my opinion. read more

They ued an old PO box we had to send bills to us and then complained that we didn't pay them. I had corrected the address several times but they never changed the mailing address. Complete incompetance and laziness. read more

Was a customer for over 17 years, when I needed emergency service, I received horrible customer service from them, actually no customer service. A rude service rep with absolutely no phone skills and completely clueless about getting an emergency delivery is why I switched service to Everett Propane, excellent customer service! read more

So 3 times last winter CN Brown pulled no shows on scheduled oil deliveries to my home. We raised hell. Twice they came after a lot of angry calls. They also wanted to charge me $50 "emergency" fee because THEY FAILED to deliver as promised. I don't know anyone there, I don't owe them money. I actually have a credit. I have been in store ordering in person, also called many times to confirm that someone would be here. Spoke to managers, cried hysterically, as anyone who needs oil in this area knows that you can't just order from another company. Remember last winter? One of the coldest and snowiest on record? We had pipes burst because we had no heat. I have a 6 and 7 year old in the house. They couldn't care less. Flash forward yesterday. For the 4th time, CN BROWN neglected to deliver oil as scheduled. On the coldest day of the year. I called just before 5pm, got an operator who was going to relay the message. At 9pm, a driver showed up and wanted a check before he was going to pump the oil. We told him "no thanks". We are going with another company, and so should you. Two of our neighbors, in their 80's were both left out in the cold by CN Brown as well as several people I have spoken with in this area. Don't do business with CN Brown, they don't care about you and they are a nightmare to deal with. Heat is a necessity in Maine. It's not an "oh well" situation, and they have done this to many, many people. Criminal negligence. This site DOESN'T ALLOW A REVIEW OF NO STARS SO I AM FORCED TO GIVE ONE. STAY AWAY FROM CN BROWN read more

I had the same results as others with them not showing up when they said they would. When I call for delivery, they give me a 3 week delivery date. I go out of my way to call early and have the driveway ready but the oil wassn't delivered. I call with questions and talk to polite people but they just don't know why it wasn't delivered. Last year I couldn't wait and called someone else to come. My neighbor has had missed delivery dates too. Might go back using the last company. read more

2 Years ago I purchased a propane tank from CN Brown in order to save on propane since customer owned tanks save significantly on the gallon price. The job was done on time and the technician was polite. Since then I have had two or three deliveries with only minor indications of inexperience or "bad hair day" on the part of the scheduler. Last month I ordered propane again in good faith that I would receive appropriate service. Only to find that the company had arbitrarily decided that there is no price break for customer owned tanks, nearly tripling my per gallon price. A previous overcharge was not applied to my bill, and an additional overcharge was supposedly added to my previous credit. When asked to send the overcharges to me I was told it would be a while. Several phone calls later and being passed from one office to the next, I am sorry to have to part company with CN Brown. It is less convenient to find gas, diesel and propane and heating oil elsewhere, but a company needs to live up to its customer friendly mission statement. read more

C. N. Brown has been in the community for many years providing heating oil and more recently also electricity delivery. Their prices in either category are not at all competitive and their terms for having them provide electricity are punitive as they charge you a steep termination fee if you cancel before the end of service. None of the other electricity service providers have this termination fee and their kW charges are much more reasonable. I will not recommend this company nor do business with them for either oil or electricity. When you try to provide constructive criticism to their customer service folks, they don't care. read more

Cn brown company down right sucks. The employees are down right rude. I have a nh photo id bc i just moved to maine and havent had the time to get my id state changed yet but my id has my photo, date of birth and apparence discription. I am from india so every store i go into people know me by my apparence i kinda stick out like a sore thumb in maine lol. But anyways everytime i go in the employees give me attitude bc my photo id is expired and i cant buy alcohol and cigaretts even though i am 25 yrs old. And my id is only expired by a couple months NOT Years. Not only that but then we called the district manager to complain and she SWORE at my husband... Just goes to show you how much their customers mean to them. Even when i get my id changed over to maine its going to take 30 days for me to have it and they told my husband everytime i go in and they need proof of id i have to show them a letter stating that my id is in the process of getting changed, which is down right ridiculus and im not doing it. My husband used to work for them a couple yrs ago but left bc they dont care about their employees. There is one store we go into and the manager there doesnt card me bc she knows im old enough and we told the district manager that and she threatened to fire her bc she is actually nice and cares about her customers which is sad. read more
