Originally we could not get ahold of him for a little while when we first decided on him as a photographer but he reached out eventually so that it fine and I think we were just eager to get our engagement photos done so we wanted to get the ball rolling so it felt longer. Well we had our engagement pictures scheduled for the 9th of March, took a couple days to get a confirmation from him and then due to an unexpected schedule change I requested to change it to the 11th of March and he was fine with that (which we were very greatful for) The forecast said rain so he wanted to push the shoot and i took his advice (even though it was the one day of the week that it did not rain and was beautiful of course) and we rescheduled for April 15th. Then COVID-19 happened, I never received ANYTHING from him, I tried to reach out to confirm that the shoot was cancelled so that I didn't miss him being there if he was planning on keeping the shoot. I emailed him on the 13th and tried calling him and never got any response from him. From a business standpoint it was very disappointing for him to never even reach out and let his clients know that their appointments were going to be rescheduled. The courtesy of receiving anything from him would have been better than being left in the dark and not able to reach him. I tried to reach out again to touch base and inform him we were not going to be using him for our wedding anymore and his email is full. So I am assuming I am not the only one having this issue right now. Good reviews are not just about the end result. It is also about the customer service that you provide for your clients and this has definitely shown me a very unreliable side to to him and I would not want to rely on him for my big day in fear that he may disappear again.

Prior to booking, I spent an enormous amount of time scrolling through engagement and wedding photo portfolios of so many photographers. It was particularly difficult because many/most wedding vendors have 5 star overall ratings. However, I was able to filter out many of them because I was specifically looking for outstanding photography and stellar candid shots. I had noticed that many photographers shot the same shots and poses for each couple and captured the same amount of background for each posed photo, no matter the setting. If you're thinking I was a very picky bride-to-be, you're right. I did my due diligence, and I knew what I wanted. When I came across Brett & Tori's profile (and I am SO fortunate that I did), I noticed the difference in the shots -- the naturalness of the photos, the way each setting was captured so uniquely, their photojournalistic approach. They were very friendly from the get-go, and as soon as we had an introductory call with them, we were sold. I'd been previously advised that hiring a photographer was going to be my #1 priority, and I absolutely agree. They were the first vendor we hired. It was great to start off feeling so confident! We purchased the package that included engagement shoot + 8 hours of wedding day. When I compared package pricing with other photographers, I felt that B&T was very reasonably priced, especially for the quality of their photography. For our engagement shoot, we met with them at Joshua Tree (they are serious adventurers, by the way, and that's just another part that makes them so awesome), and when my husband and I hit some obstacles on the road, they were very accommodating and flexible, and we got to spend some time getting to know them. Our shoot went well, and everyone was a trooper given the super cold winds that day. We had our puppy with us for the shoot as well, and Tori was so sweet and kind to hold onto him when he wasn't in our shots. Brett really took the lead and did so amazingly. I know he's a true visual artist because when I looked around (kind of reluctantly because the strong winds were blowing dust and my hair straight into my eyes and face), I didn't think there was any particular scenery that stood out. Well, his photos certainly proved me wrong. On our wedding day, he, again, did a great job of leading us to every little bit of stellar scenery our venue offered. He took excellent candid and posed shots. When we had some down time between the ceremony and reception because our hall was taking a bit more time to set up, he took the liberty to create a black and white same-day slideshow to present during our reception! I wasn't aware of this until I was sitting at our sweetheart table and noticed pictures of me in my wedding dress on the screen! This is what we call going above and beyond. Anyway, I keep talking about their amazing photos, so I'm actually going to include a couple of examples with this review and let them speak for themselves. Super PROS: - Communication with them was easy throughout the process, as Brett is quick to respond to emails. - Brett sent us our photos 3 weeks after the wedding. - EXCELLENT photography. 1000% recommend. Practical, informative, hands-on, single flash photography class!…read more My friend and I want to learn how to use single off-camera flash to enhance our photography skills. I checked around the Irvine/LA area. Most classes don't offer this type of class, and if they do, the classes are not held often. I found Peter Phun Photography through Yelp, and decided to give a shot and contacted Peter. Immediately, he was able to arrange the workshop the following weekend! Wow. The class was held at Back to the Grind: 4 hour total. The first 2 hours was presentation, and then it was hands-on practice with models. For a class less than 5 people, he actually had 2 models came in, and had 3 settings. He was patient in explaining the principles and allowed us to play around. I didn't have a camera, and Peter lent me his Canon - very thoughtful and kind. Just for a comparison: another friend took a studio lighting class in the Bay Area. There were at least 8 people, 1 studio setup, 1 model, and hardly any private time to shoot with the model. I highly recommend taking Peter's class.

But I knew I could do better and get more out of my camera. Peter Phun is a professional photographer who used to work at The Press Enterprise. I'm a big fan of his work. When I saw he was having a basic DSLR class for beginners, I jumped on the opportunity. I took his one-day basic DSLR class and came away understanding the basics of how my amazing camera works, tips on photographing people, how to use available light, how to shoot things in motion and how to organize my photos once I got home. The class consisted of a "classroom" portion held at a coffee house in Riverside, a field portion shot at a motocross track, and a session with a free trial of Lightroom 4, where you learn how to organize and edit photos. Did you ever give any thought as to how you should name and organize photos once you download them? Peter will help you get set up so you can find photos easily. Peter is a patient, compassionate teacher who won't criticize you for not doing basic things you really should have done. Like reading the manual and studying the discs that came with your camera. I didn't, but he pretended not to notice. He also evaluates your interests and makes specific equipment suggestions. For me, it was a fast aperture 50mm lens. What unfolded was something I would have never expected. From the beginning he was intense, rude and rushing me. My home is immaculate and was ready and because I wanted to move plates from the inside to the outside he criticized me and said I wasn't ready for the shoot. He was rushing me since he had double booked himself. I was paying double, from the last photographer I had used and I was being rushed. He told me to go in a room and stay there, the way he spoke down to me was shocking. He forbid me from being around or even involved in the shoot. I asked him to take a hallway photo and he mocked me "no, that was in the next package up that you didn't get" I was so upset at how he spoke to me, at one point I said I think we should just stop the shoot, you are rushed, speaking poorly to me & it had only been an hour of his time and he was still rushing the shoot to be over. In what world was the shoot ever going to be that fast? He slammed his hands on my kitchen island and said "On God!" while raising his voice at me that he has 5 star reviews and that he wanted me to pay him before he left. I stopped him and said please don't bring God into a business setting, and that I felt very uncomfortable and asked him to step outside and leave. He shouted and said "Oh always the victim" I just met him, I do not know him. It was clear he had a distain for women and I know he would never have spoken that way to a man. He refused to leave when I asked the first time and continued to raise his voice and so I got my husband on the phone for safety, I myself stepped outside to feel safer. He followed and continued to yell down my driveway after I told him I was uncomfortable, yelling "I need to be paid, fuck! and rambling on about how I was treating him? I stayed calm and quiet and he finally left. He text me that I owed him money. what?! I was treated terribly, felt unsafe and he wanted more money from me? I text him to not come back to my property for twilight photos, delete the photos he took and to never come back. I had my time wasted, zero photos, all my staging gone to waste, felt unsafe and had to scurry to find a new photographer last minute. He kept my $300 deposit and I had to pay another photographer, buy fresh flowers again, re-stage, cancel my trip home by a few days. I was hugely inconvenienced and have never been so disrespected as a woman. I hope if you are a woman, or care about professionalism, that you never hire this guy. Walking RED FLAG!
