Most of the time I'm in Thief River Falls from Sunday night through Friday and commute back to the Twin Cities on weekends.

Word in town is this is the best hotel you're going to get out here in Thief River Falls. I came…read morehere for a business trip and stayed for 2 nights. Room: - The bed wasn't very comfortable, it was kind of stiff, making it hard for me to sleep. - I came during the winter and it was cold however, the heater worked really well in the room. - Came with your basic ironing board, big fridge, TV, hairdryer, and desk set up. They also provided shampoo and a good amount of towels. - I kind of wish the lamps had USB plug-in's because I didn't bring my power brick thinking they would have USB ports but they didn't. - I noticed the water felt extremely buttery and soft. It felt like lotion. I wasn't used to it coming from California where our water is harsh and packed with chemicals, but being in a small town I was pleasantly surprised. - Thankfully, the room felt clean but you can tell the bathtub and shower curtain was a little cheap and could probably use an update. Breakfast: - It was included in the stay and they had a decent amount of options but good enough to get you started for the day. Service: - They were very friendly Price: - Reasonable and affordable. Location: - Close to the Thief River airport, less than 7 minute drive. - There is a bar right next to the hotel - There isn't any markets nearby or banks walking distance and is a bit far from the heart of the town. The only thing I was a bit bummed about was that their laundry machines only accept change. It was the middle of the night and there was no ATM nearby, the closest was in the bar but they were closed. I asked the receptionist if they could spare me some change so I can do laundry and I would venmo him or something but he couldn't even do that. I kind of wish there was a way for the guests to use their card to get laundry credit or change or maybe just switch to apple pay/wireless laundry app.

This is the nicest hotel in the area but it leaves a lot to be desired. Upon check in the young…read morelady working seemed very confused on how to check me in. It took quite a while. My room was directly across from the elevator so I heard it every time it opened. The lobby, pool, and fitness room were clean and tidy. There's a small variety of snacks and drinks available at the front desk. They offer breakfast in the morning. It consists of waffles, muffins, yogurt, cereal. They did offer varying hot food (written on a whiteboard) such as biscuits and gravy or sausage and eggs. There was a juice machine and hot chocolate as well. My room wasn't the cleanest and needed some TLC. The inside of the shower curtain was yucky, the toilet seat was loose and you had to flush 2-3 times, the fridge had crumbs and spilled liquid inside. The bed was rock hard and very uncomfortable. The carpet had many various stains. And almost every wall had peeling or chipped paint. If this is the best in the area, it's probably your best bet but don't come with high expectations.

Ok, a couple of red flags with this place. #1, the rooms are old. (see photos) They need a major…read morerefresh. The beds seemed clean, but the walls were not, and there were spiderwebs in the corner of the room (room 151 BTW) #2. The hotel manager LIVES in the hotel. Remember that VRBO commercial with ex-Alabama football coach Nick Saban? That is what she (the manager) was like. (Coach Saban's line: No fun. No games....LOL) She made sure, right at the minute of check-in, that fun and games were strictly prohibited. For example, not only was the pool closed at 10pm (which is fine) you were not allowed to sit at any of the tables in the sitting area next to the pool - even if you were quiet. it was 9:59pm and she came thru kicking adults out of the pool are who were simply visiting together in the area. Not being loud, nothing unruly.....just conversation. Didn't matter. Why was she so strict about it? Well she LIVES there. It's a problem, and a major conflict of interest. Saturday afternoon a young boy knocked on every door walking down the hallway - a bored kid I guess. The manager put the entire hotel on warning/lockdown. It was completely absurd. Also, the continental breakfast was not edible. Coffee was the worst (extremely watered down) I've had in years, 1 star on that as well. I cannot stress this enough: I wouldn't stay here under any exceptions unless you are 80+ years old, are blind, and go to bed at 6pm.

I only stayed one night. Location is excellent next to a good restaurant bar and Grill. Easy parking. The hotel was clean. Large TV of course.
