Good election of NFA items. However, don't buy them from Clyde Armory. They take forever to submit Form 4's because the owner is a US congressman and doesn't have the time to certify them to send to the ATF in a timely manner. If I had known the average time to certify a Form 4 was 5-7 weeks, I would have taken my business elsewhere. It wasn't explained to me it would take so long until after the sale was made. With a near non-existent refund policy, it sure is a great way to deceive customers. read more

I have purchased 3 9mm guns from Clyde's Armory. If you are a female they look straight through you assuming you know nothing. I recently bought the Smith and Wesson Shield X. Was quoted one price and paid about 70 more than quoted price. I called to straighten it out and was told they have different prices but I knew exactly what I wanted and was told one price. This was my first time coming into this gun shop and from entery, I was highly impressed regarding the inventory and professionalism of the staff. I would say I am not an expert, nor am I a novice regarding handguns. I went in there explaining what I would like and also asked their opinions on such. I walked out of there with a fantastic handgun with optical sites and would highly recommend this store! They do have a nice store and a very large selection. The real issue is there prices are high on pretty much everything and out of the 3 times I've been in the store to check for an item the sales staff were pretty much Jerks except once. The first time I went in the guy I spoke with was pretty nice and helpful. I told him what I was looking for and he showed me to the area where it was located, I made my purchase, looked around awhile then left. The 2nd time I went in I was looking for a specific rifle they were supposed to have on sale, I asked a guy at a counter if he could direct me to the area where it was located, He tells me he has no idea and I'd have to just look around. Seriously! look around, this place is Huge and even more so they have a s#*t load of guns in there. Well I looked around but could never locate it, got frustrated and just left. I did buy the rifle I wanted but somewhere else. The last time I went in was with my son because he was making a purchase of a firearm. I was just standing there talking to another sales person and asked him about a specific Sig Sauer firearm I wanted to purchase, The sales guy was telling me that they didn't have that model at the time and that it was very popular, About that time an older dude walks up and tells the guy who was helping me "Hey you know we don't get paid to just stand around and shoot the breeze" I tried to tell the guy that the other salesperson was giving me some information about a firearm I wanted to buy, But before I could even finish my sentence the old dude interrupted and says "yeah, yeah well whatever as he just turns and walks away. I told the younger guy "I'm sorry I hope I didn't get you in trouble" and he says no problem, That guy is just an A%%hole. I walked over to my son who was still waiting and told him what happened and then we left! My son didn't buy the gun there he decided to go elsewhere. That was about 2-1/2 years ago and none of us have been back since. I also never recommend this store to friends or family, Never. Now with that being said it has been awhile since I was in there so maybe things have changed, I really don't know because I swore I'd never go in there again, I'm 67 years old and I'm not going to spend my hard earned money in a place where you can't get any help if you ask or you have some moron interrupt your conversation with some rude insinuation when they have no idea what's going on. I don't have time for it and it's not like they're the only game in town. Unfortunately this was my Experience on these three occasions I hope everything goes better for others.... read more

My son and I will come over to Athens to Clydes because of the larger selection of tactical rifles and pistols and rare pieces and antiques on the wall. I've bought a few guns here over the past couple of years at a good value and the team here seems to know what they are doing. They also have a used selection of AR/SCARs so you can save some $$ and if you want a Barrett 50, they have them too. Will be getting a new 1911 here soon but like finding some deals and keeping my inventory of ammo up when they have bulk sales. Great place. read more

Great selection of guns, knives and ammo. We were expecting them to be out of almost everything but they had a great selection. Pleasantly surprised. Got my wife a new pistol and stocked up on ammo. Arrogant, poor service, poor knowledge and WAY OVERPRICED. I'm a disabled vet and new to shopping for guns. Was searching for a self protection 9mm. I have difficulty in racking a simi-automatic and asked for help. Smith & Wesson builds a gun called an EZ. It is supposed to have a slide which is lighter in to pull back. This is what I asked for. Was handed a S&W Shield 2.0 and was told it had EZ. I bough it. They made a sucker of me. I came back the next day trying to exchange. My boys and I go there for trekking, shooting and gun accessories and ammunition. We have now for several years. They carry some hard to find accessories such as savage magazines and the latest models. They always have interesting weapons and the staff are some of the best and most knowledgeable. Prices for weapons are reasonable. Clyde's armory has ammunition when others do not. Stopped by yesterday and bought ammunition for up-coming hunting and plinking. As always, honest discussion and reasonable - not the cheapest but for difficult to find rounds, in this crisis, Clyde's is one of the best choices. In December of last year I purchased a brand new 12 gauge shotgun from Clyde Armory. Along with that, I purchased a carrying case, lots of ammunition, and a cleaning kit (all $760). The same day I took it to a range for some practice and the gun jammed after every shot. The rangemaster had to disassemble the gun after both firing attempts to clear the jam. I immediately took the weapon back to Clyde's and asked for an exchange or store credit so I could purchase a different shotgun. I was told "no, there is no return on firearms or optics". They offered to obtain a replacement barrel from Mossberg, but when it came in almost 4 weeks later, the gun still jammed after every shot. Again, I returned to Clyde's and was told going forward I now had to deal with the Mossberg warranty department. I asked to meet with the Clyde, but was told he will not meet with me. Well, the firearm has been sent to Mossberg twice now and it still jams after every 3 or 4 shots. I will never deal with Clyde's Armory again. read more

I've shopped at Clyde off and on since they were in the small space on Ben Burton Cir and it's never been a very good experience. I bought some bulk 5.56 ammo there in 2006 and one out of five rounds were duds. Bad primers. I went up there to try to return what I had left and they were extremely rude and refused to take them back. A couple years ago, I was in the market for a rimfire suppressor and since Clyde is the only place in Athens that sells them, I went there already knowing exactly what I wanted. I wasn't familiar with the NFA paperwork process and unfortunately, their "suppressor guy" didn't explain it clearly. I had to go to the courthouse and pay to get fingerprinted, pay for passport pictures, etc. I recently bought another suppressor from Georgia Gun Store in Gainesville and they did everything there in the store. Pictures, fingerprints, everything. So much easier and a good bit cheaper. Also, Clyde's employees aren't very knowledgeable about anything, especially silencers. You basically need to do your own research because there's no one there who knows anything and they all pretend like they work for Blackwater. Give me a break. They got in trouble a couple years ago for not letting a military veteran in because he had a service dog, a violation of the Americans with disabilities act and got caught and had their assets frozen for not paying taxes. Extremely disappointed. I've been looking specifically for a Ruger Mini-30 Tactical, and Clyde's website said for a week that they had one in stock. After driving down and asking about it, I was told none were in stock, even though two hours earlier their website still had it. It's 2020, gentlemen, and fairly easily to tie your in-stock inventory to your website. Shame I had to waste my time, and won't bother with them again. read more

Not the best place to trade in a gun definitely not fair with the prices. Stood in line to trade in rifle that was a wholesale rifle for 2400 the guy offered me $500 for it. This gun retails for 3300 been a lot easier for him to walk out there and say I'm not interested , instead of letting me wait around the shop in his store for 2 1/2 hours. Won't go back won't recommend!! That's more like a Democrat than a Republican. Later I was told he couldn't even keep a deal with Glock that's why he can't sell Glocks one of the most outstanding Police credit a two companies and he can't keep them that should tell it all. so I tell everybody you be better off kicking rocks. What a joke of a gun shop. We went inside with our trained dog on a leash and were sent away by a customer and employee. "You might want to get out of here, there's a service dog and he's a Dobermann and he will try and fight your dog" is what we were told by the customer and the employee told us to get out. For instance, there was a grenade launcher for $90--- Who can say no to that (apparently me, but still)? They also had several WWII era rifles with bayonets for sale as well. I took my young son in for his first deer rifle. It was the last day of a month long Mossberg sale. We looked at the exact rifle two weeks prior on Clyde's same shelf. Upon returning (last day of sale 10/31/15), two different salesmen verified the sale price and I filled out all paperwork. At the cash register...it was determined that their pricing was incorrect- internally. The owner refused to honor the price and attempted to charge $75 more than the agreed upon sale price. My son had saved for the rifle and was quite disappointed to have to cancel the sale. We were both disappointed that they would not follow through with their word. If the correction had been immediate, it would have been much better than one-half hour later with our wallet out to pay for it. The selection is like nothing you'll experience anywhere within several hundred miles. My family and I traveled to Clyde armory yesterday, and their gunsmith installed a couple parts on my rifle in about 20 minutes while we browsed the store. The work was done skillfully and with a smile, and when the work was done they only charged me $20 bucks. Go to Clyde armory. Give them your money. Wow! What a refreshing gun shop experience! From the time we walked in the door of their super-clean bright modern facility, we were immediately approached by employees to see if we could use any help. Multiple employees took turns walking through the store with us over the course of about an hour, showing us guns, explaining things in detail, giving honest advice. Matt in particular was extremely helpful, and never got frustrated with the time we were taking, nor with questions my partner was constantly asking about things. We were very happy with our purchases, and even though we were sold an incorrect part, when we brought it back for exchange, the entire exchange process was customer focused and hassle free. He actually would not sell to me after days of trying to get the "right paperwork" because my new address isn't updated on my license. I brought in actual pieces of paper that he specifically told me to bring in and now all of a sudden they won't work. I've never had any trouble buying any firearm before and I know what I'm supposed to and not to do seeing as my father is a police officer. Went down the road to Franklins Gun Shop and had NO problem purchasing the exact same firearm, cheaper, and from friendly/willing to help staff. I stopped by two weeks back with an offer from another gun store via internet to see if Clyde Armory would match the offer. They declined and instructed me that they would be glad to receive the rifle and charge me $35.00 to handle the paper work and federal documents. I ordered the rifle and received notice on 9/6/2019 that the rifle had arrived at Clyde Armory via FedeX. I waited until 9/10/2019 and traveled to the location to receive my rifle. Upon arrival, I showed the paper work I received from FedeX and the merchant that the product was received at Clyde Armory. I was asked if Clyde Armory had called me, and I replied no, but expected that the package would be available for pick up. I was told that I would have to wait until I was called. No checking to see if my rifle was available, just a plain go away and come back another day when we call you. Never again will I conduct any purchases with these idiots and I would advise all to steer your business elsewhere. read more
