The…read moreproposed scope of work was to trim about 20 tall, very overgrown trees on our commercial property including branches against the building and on the rooftop. Robert Ahlborn, owner of Better Tree Service requested a phone call within 30 mins of my Yelp request. In that call, I described the scope work, location of work and requested that Robert stop by the job site to provide me with a quote to 1. trim trees along a paved path leading to the back of a commercial building; 2. trim trees near the back of the store near and around the loading dock; 3. trim the trees along around the building; and 4. trim all branches leaning against the building and off the rooftop. Within a few hours of our telcon, Robert provided copies of his local and county business licenses, photos of the proposed trees to be trimmed, a firm fixed price quote and proof of his insurance. Robert's FFP quote appeared very reasonable but I was waiting for a second quote. The second quote arrived the next day and was substantially higher priced. I award our work to Better Tree Service and Robert agreed to start and finish the proposed scope of work on day 3 (Saturday morning) Robert started and finished the trim trimming job a day sooner (Friday morning). Better Tree Service did an OUTSTANDING job trimming all trees he identified in his FFP quote, plus a couple of other trees. He trimmed enough of the tree branches away from the building and rooftop. Robert's crew removed all tree debris, push the excess dirt off of the paved path leading to the back of the building and completely blew the parking lot of any miscellaneous tree debris. We needed our live oak trimmed away from our and our neighbor's home and around our gazebo, and wanted the canopy lifted. We received a call that the crew was running late and had no problem with this. However, when the crew arrived, they were rushed (we were their fourth job of the day and they had another one after ours) and it shows! They did not cut limbs flush, they left a dead branch on the tree and generally over-pruned the tree. On a positive note, the crew did do a great job cleaning up.

No invoice or agreement on quote or job. Never showed up on the day or call to notify. Received call later that day saying they were at the house to pickup payment for job done (confused me with a different client). Then informed me theyd have to do the job next week, vague scheduling. I have no idea if they do good work quality wise maybe they do i cant know. All i know is the quote was very low in price for the job ehich may be telling. The entire first impression was a red flag for organization, communication, professionalism, reliabilty, invoice & payment conduct. All made the idea of hiring them unthinkable.
