The…read moreproposed scope of work was to trim about 20 tall, very overgrown trees on our commercial property including branches against the building and on the rooftop. Robert Ahlborn, owner of Better Tree Service requested a phone call within 30 mins of my Yelp request. In that call, I described the scope work, location of work and requested that Robert stop by the job site to provide me with a quote to 1. trim trees along a paved path leading to the back of a commercial building; 2. trim trees near the back of the store near and around the loading dock; 3. trim the trees along around the building; and 4. trim all branches leaning against the building and off the rooftop. Within a few hours of our telcon, Robert provided copies of his local and county business licenses, photos of the proposed trees to be trimmed, a firm fixed price quote and proof of his insurance. Robert's FFP quote appeared very reasonable but I was waiting for a second quote. The second quote arrived the next day and was substantially higher priced. I award our work to Better Tree Service and Robert agreed to start and finish the proposed scope of work on day 3 (Saturday morning) Robert started and finished the trim trimming job a day sooner (Friday morning). Better Tree Service did an OUTSTANDING job trimming all trees he identified in his FFP quote, plus a couple of other trees. He trimmed enough of the tree branches away from the building and rooftop. Robert's crew removed all tree debris, push the excess dirt off of the paved path leading to the back of the building and completely blew the parking lot of any miscellaneous tree debris. We needed our live oak trimmed away from our and our neighbor's home and around our gazebo, and wanted the canopy lifted. We received a call that the crew was running late and had no problem with this. However, when the crew arrived, they were rushed (we were their fourth job of the day and they had another one after ours) and it shows! They did not cut limbs flush, they left a dead branch on the tree and generally over-pruned the tree. On a positive note, the crew did do a great job cleaning up.

They don't usually pay up front but because they are in a timely situation and they trusted him because of the referral, they gave him almost $1k to complete services upfront then he ghosted them after starting the project and leaving a mess. They even had it in writing. It's not things they are able to do themselves at this point for health reasons. He won't return their calls or the realtors, for a few months now. I believe he got bigger lucrative jobs so ditched my parents.

I hired Courtney with CB Landscaping to remove some large stumps at our rental property. In order…read moreto remove part of the stump he had to take up part of the neighbor's chain link fence. He assured me he would get it fixed upon removal of the stump. As it was a rental and not a primary residence, I trusted that when Courtney said the job was complete it was, and paid him. My mistake! It's been almost a month since the stump removal took place and the fence is still not fixed. My neighbor and I have both called and left messages that have been unreturned. He committed to fixing it twice over text in the past 2.5 weeks but was a no show both times. While Courtney did a nice job on the removal of the stumps, it is unacceptable that the fence has been damaged and Courtney has not been able to fix the fence or remedy the situation.
