We had two jobs for Jeff to do. They were two installations. One was to install the myQ smart…read moregarage door system. The other job was to install our new "nest" thermostat. Installations were done but with a little change. I texted him the day before and he came out to the house the next day and on time! The myQ installation was fast and clean. The only problem we had was to pair the myQ device with the Genie garage door opener. The instructions that came with the myQ box didn't work. Jeff figured out the problem and we were able to get the two devices to work together. The new myQ device and the garage door work perfectly. The "nest" install didn't happen. We installed the ecobee4 smart thermostat instead. The installation was smooth and fast. Jeff took the time to make sure everything worked correctly. We also asked him to look at our air conditioning problems. He checked everything out and gave us options on what needed to be done to fix it. He didn't even charge us to look this over. We made an appointment to work our Air Conditioning problems next month. One last thing, Jeff gives you his prices up front. No worries on what you are paying for the work being done. I hired Travis who is the Bambam Handyman to do some work on a rental home. He was easy to…read morecommunicate with which was nice. The initial job was to install new bathroom faucets and conduct some drywall repairs with texture to match. The texture matched better than I could have done, but still was slightly noticeable that it was repaired. He did the jobs as required, but said he did not have any cleaning products so the new faucets were installed over the old calcium mildew gunk. He said he scrapped one that was bad, but did not clean them. To me that is just the normal thing to do is clean off the surface you will be installing a new product on, but I digress as I never requested that specifically to be completed. Travis was then hired for a second job involving sanding, painting, and hanging four interior doors with hinges and hardware & installing and painting a baseboard piece and two corners. First he charged per hour rather than a flat rate. So keep this in mind as if he runs into any delays etc you are writing a blank check. If you use him, be sure to get a firm preferably flat rate quote so you know your out of pocket cost. I had to leave while he was still finishing the last job. I was unable to inspect prior to him leaving. Needless to say i went back later and inspected. I found their to be a few issues that he did not remember to do or did incorrectly. The side of the garage/kitchen door had to be sanded and he said he would paint it, but never did. The baseboard and two corner pieces were installed, but they were left halfway completed. There was no caulk or additional paint added. They were left with big gaps. The interior door handles on a couple doors were installed upside down. Just another oversight on his behalf. He offered to come fix the issues aforementioned, but since this is not his main job and is only a side gig, his schedule is pretty much only open on weekends. When he offered to come by and fix the issues, he ended up not calling to advise he wouldn't make it, but rather sent an email apologizing that he was not going to make it. So all in all he is a nice guy who can do jobs, but I would get specific with everything you want completed in writing for an exact cost ahead of time. Then make sure you are there to inspect and approve of the finished job. Then if any issues are identified, have them fixed immediately as his schedule can be difficult to work with. All three were responsive to my requests and all the pricing was pretty much in the same range. Veteran (Alan) was in the middle regarding the price he quoted, but I had a feeling that would be the best for us. I was obviously right. He was responsive to my multiple changing SOWs and on the day of the install, he showed up right on time with his son as his helper. The first day, he needed his son to help since I had an 85" TV to hang and also some pretty heavy wall mounted laundry room cabinets. He hung two TVs and installed the mounting brackets for me, and also installed 4 wall cabinets and 4 floor cabinets, along with a sink unit with plumbing. His estimate of time was spot on, and he took exactly the time he thought he might need to do the job. He was fast, efficient, courteous, cleaned-up after the job, and even took away the mountain of cardboard and packing materials that all the cabinetry and other stuff came in. I am a stickler for good customer service and for good work that you pay for, so if I say this guy is good, you can take that to the bank!! Postscript: I cannot believe he was so few reviews. I would think that everyone he works with would give him a good review. Also, as of this writing, he has two Yelp reviews that are not recommended. Why??
