I like this place...but I've only been here 1 time. I'll update when I've had a chance to experience more hair appointments.

I've been going to Reflections for about 4 years now for eyebrow threading and usually get decent…read moreservice but recently I had an experience that caused me a to decide not to return again. I made an appointment online for with the owner (Kanisha) for my regular service. When I arrived I was called with a "come" and motioned to sit in a service chair by another technician who I'm unfamiliar with. She didn't say anything else but when I saw her setting up to service me, I informed her that I had an appointment with Kanisha. She walked off and came back with Kanisha who told me that she was busy and couldn't get to me but assured me that although this tech was new, she was capable of servicing me well. I told her that was no problem and thanked her for letting me know. After my service, my brows looked good but I was displeased with the tech's level of customer service but still paid and tipped as needed. That evening I noticed burning in the area when washing my face and noticed a scar on both eyelids where skin had actually been taken off and by morning it was swollen and bleeding so I called the salon and left a message with the receptionist for Kanisha to return my call. I received an email to leave a review on Google which I did. Shortly after leaving my review, I was contacted by Kanisha. She asked for photos, which I sent and we talked on the phone. She offered to supply me with a sample size of aloe vera for me to apply to it but I declined as I'd already been using Neosporin and aloe. I dealt with this swelling for almost a week and the scar showed for over a month so I think it's safer for me not to return as I wouldn't be comfortable enough to trust their techs nor trust that they'd adequately give a solution to any issue that might arise. Sorry for the length of this review but I thought it was important to leave details as to prepare and prevent this from happening to another customer and in hopes that the techs at this salon are more careful and aware.

What's baffling is that no restitution was ever made, nor offered for any of the substandard services received at that time or since. The only stylist that I would ever allow to do my hair would be j.J and I don't know that she's the stylist still left at your salon. Otherwise, financial restitution would be the only thing that would satisfy a person who experienced services and felt as awful as I was made to feel. I was told it was only important that I was happy then, all I wanted was my hair done correctly. And I would have been, instead, I was blamed and still no restitution was made. I too am sorry that I couldn't continue to be a client of your salon. But when you don't do the right by the public you make restitution. This is, unfortunately, an epidemic within the salon community not sure. If it's only in Richmond Hill, or it's down south in general, because of the way that stylist do booth rental, rather than they're an employee of the salon, then there seems to be some kind of responsibility. And some kind of ownership that the salon has in regard to their stylus and to their clients. But that seems to be lacking, because the clients are generally linked to their stylist and not so much. The salon, it's a real shame because what that amounts to is no accountability whatsoever. A dedicated client's hairis done wrong and it is left that way, not fixed , no responsibility taken, no apologies are even made. Instea, blame was made- no restitution for it and the client is told,." Oh, sorry, but we just can't seem to make you happy, you will need to go elsewhere for services."?? It's wrong. That's still not the way to do business, no matter how much time passes.

I suggest it to friends, or anyone who asks about waxing in Savannah. The salon is located on Bull street. It is next door to Foxy Loxy cafe. Sometimes parking can be difficult to find. So, plan to arrive early to give yourself time to find parking. Wax & Wane is in a renovated two story house. There are multiple rooms, a small lobby, sitting area, two bathrooms, and small shopping areas. It is warm and cozy inside the house. When you walk in it feels inviting. Every staff member is incredibly kind. I don't have a favorite technician. Because everyone is always so nice! The staff does their job precisely and efficiently. They are happy to answer any questions you may have. They take great care to make sure every room is clean and sanitized before and after every client. When you walk into the salon hand sanitizer is on your left as soon as you open the door. The prices at Wax & Wane are generally less expensive then at most waxing salons. Because all they do is waxing. All of their pricing is listed clearly on their user friendly website. Wax & Wane Waxing Salon is female owned. It is also a locally owned business. Two more great reasons to support this already fantastic business.

When we arrived, their ages were confirmed again, but despite that, the girls were separated and couldn't sit next to each other during the service, which was disappointing since the experience was supposed to be something special for them to do together. When it came time to pay, I was told one of the girls would be $35 and the other $65. When I asked why, I was told it was because my older daughter got gel polish. I clarified that she did not, and another staff member confirmed she hadn't. Despite that, I was told the price would still be $65 because she is "bigger." I have no issue paying more based on age if that's clearly communicated upfront, but this was not the case. When I questioned the pricing, a scene was made -- multiple employees came over, speaking to each other and to me, which made the situation uncomfortable and unnecessary. To make matters worse, less than an hour later, the polish on my oldest daughter's toes was already peeling off. Overall, the pricing felt inconsistent and poorly explained, the atmosphere became uncomfortable, and the experience did not match what was advertised or expected.

I confirmed this multiple times before arriving and even confirmed again in person when I walked in. Only then was I told I was "wrong" and that the price quoted was only for a polish change, which was never explained at any point. The price was suddenly raised to $25. The issue is not the cost. I was fully prepared to pay. The issue was the attitude and the dishonesty. Instead of taking responsibility for the miscommunication, the staff repeatedly insisted that I had misunderstood, spoke to each other in another language while smirking and laughing, and made the situation uncomfortable and disrespectful. That behavior alone was enough for us to leave. Mocking or insulting customers in another language is immature and unacceptable. We wasted our time and left feeling disrespected. I will not support a business that changes prices after the fact and treats customers this way. To make matters worse, the salon had an overwhelming chemical odor that caused an immediate headache within the short time we were inside. Overall, this was a very unpleasant experience and I would not recommend this establishment to anyone.

I've been to places where it's like BIM BAM BOOM next, so I enjoyed that. They don't give complimentary neck massages or drinks like some places but that's ok. My nail tech Elaine was super sweet and we shared conversation here and there.
