As a seller: This place is not great....or even good, although to be fair, I have never sold at this specific location. The 2 other locations I have sold pieces to resulted in virtually the same experience as other 1 & 2 star reviewers. Took in over 30 pieces each time, clean and in excellent condition, some still new with tags, and they bought 1 or 2 items and never any of the new with tags items. Oh, and the payout was a joke. $5 or $6 total. I would truly be interested to know how they decide what to purchase. I can't imagine it's solely at the discretion of the employees. Software program of some sort maybe? Bottom line....you'd probably be better off selling your stuff yourself at a garage sale or online if it's high end. As a Buyer: My beef there is with the Hulen location specifically. I have purchased from other locations in the past and found good deals that I was happy with. However, I arrived to browse the Hulen location this past Saturday, latte in hand as always, to see a large, handwritten sign on the door saying 'no outside food or drinks.' I immediately got back in my car and left in lieu of tossing my beverage or letting it get cold. Sooo....is this a thing now? I keep seeing it more and more, primarily at stores that sell lower priced items. This isn't Louis Vuitton or real furs. Are there adults out there who are spilling their beverages on merchandise left and right? I'm only being somewhat sarcastic. Really....is this happening and I don't see it? I see plenty of adults browsing at all sorts of establishments with drinks in hand and I've never witnessed a spill. Bottom line on this policy.....I will not shop at an establishment that treats adults like children and doesn't believe that I can hold a beverage while browsing merchandise. When shopping other Clothes Mentor locations, I've never seen this policy elsewhere and I've never been asked to throw away my beverage. It may be store specific. read more

The employees are rude and the website for THIS LOCATION doesn't match their current policy. The website said this location was now taking for all seasons, but most of my items were rejected for not being spring or summer. They rejected two $225 J.McLaughlin dresses in styles that are still selling in the store because they didn't match what they were looking for, and they rejected a pristine pair of Cole Haan classic blush pumps that I had worn just twice because they were too small. These were $200 shoes but I was told they also didn't match their demographic. I guess if you are looking for Steve Madden or Gap then this place is for you. (They did take an Ann Taylor dress that I bought 5 YEARS ago and wore once.)I was very disappointed with the whole experience. read more

I'd give them less stars if I could! I dropped off my clothing with them last Wednesday April 16th at 4:30pm for review. In the basket were some designer items, some sundresses, and a few work/business blouses. I signed the form and gave them my phone number. I read the form which said if they werent claimed when they contacted me the clothes would be donated. Fair enough. They said come back in one hour 'be ready...I leave and I come back in an hour, still not ready. No big deal I'll come back later in the week if I can. So I called today because they are only open til 6pm and though I live in Fort Worth I work in Dallas until 5 each day so I rarely get to Ft. Worth by 6. I wanted to see if my fiance could pick up my clothes and see if I had gotten any money. Easter weekend was this past weekend and we were out of town so I couldnt try them then. The woman informed me today 4/22/2014 that my clothes had been GIVEN AWAY. She said they had contacted me several times. I HAVE NO CALLS from them, I HAVE NO VOICEMAILS from them. No missed numbers from any business in Ft Worth. Nothing. Yet, she has records they have contacted me several times. Also, they were not going to let my fiance pick up the items as he doesnt have my drivers license. My clothes were there for 4 full business days and now they are gone. I am not upset because I wanted the clothes. I am frustrated because someone says they called my phone multiple times and it never rang but its working perfectly. I am frustrated because it hasnt even been one full business week. The woman was also less than friendly and there was no customer service attitude. I am also frustrated because what kind of place says a Michael Kors black tweed vest isnt worth anything when its been worn approximately 3 times. Whatever. read more

Very clean, organized store. Clothing is arranged by size then color. Helpful staff and good selection. They have a lot of great brands and most of it is in excellent condition. I found a couple of cute dresses and a pair of shoes that were barely worn. They do charge a little more depending on brand which is a little annoying because it's all used and they pay next to nothing for them. It makes me feel like I'm getting an awesome deal on the good brands but ripped off just because something is a better brand. Even when the item could be in better condition. This is a woman's clothing store. Some glasses, jewelry and purses but no children, men or anything else not fashion related. The day I went they went a little heavy on the carpet freshener but I suppose it's better than the alternative. read more

I dropped off a Coach purse (new with tags), a Brighton purse (new w/tags, Coach sandals, Cole Hahn shoes, Banana Republic tank top, Gap sweater, etc, etc., they accepted a Kathy Ireland purse I purchased at TJ Maxx that was it. I wasn't too impressed with Cloths Mentor. Their clothing is reasonably prices, but I think you can get new clothes on clearance for the same price. They tout having designer names, but the Only designers I could find were Michael Kors, Coach, and ATL. Nothing wrong with those designers, just not high end. read more

I drove from lake worth and they told me it was over an hour wait. I went to do errands and I came back after I was texted by the store. They did not buy one item! This Clothes Mentor is a joke! I took about 15 things that were recent purchases and in excellent condition. When I took them in the young girl said before even looking at them that they were past the two year limit, which they were NOT! The interesting thing is that she said it before looking at any of the clothes! That should tell you something. I think it's because either they didn't need anything or she thought it wasn't worth looking at them. Can't figure out why except she was a young girl who doesn't have a clue because these are designer name brand clothes (ex. Donna Karan, Dana Buchman, Stanley Eisenman shoes). Maybe she thought I was past the age of "cool" clothes. Afterwards I looked around the store and saw a bunch of junk clothes, certainly not designer brands. Good luck, Clothes Mentor! This place was clean and had a nice selection when I went there today. They were having a super sale where all of their clearance you could fit into a bag was $15. I got a lot of cute brand name clothing (like BCBG) for next to nothing. I'd definitely recommend this place to anyone else trying to look cute while on a budget! read more

Holy crap this manager needs to be fired and the way she treats her employees and how they are trained is horrible. I went into the store to try to sell my DESIGNER shoes and they are in perfect condition and when I asked her what I need to do being my first time in there she yelled at me the whole time and take it all I asked was what do I do it's my first time here? She said well you're gonna have to wait and there was literally no one else in line. I was on my way to move to Florida and was obviously in a bit of a time crunch and her response to that was well you and everyone else is. It was the weekend for heck sakes. So wait it gets better after filling out this form yeah they make you fill a form out, and the wait time was an hour. Honestly it's when I should have walked out but I wanted to give them a chance. So after I asked just to see how all this worked the manager yelled at me and told me I don't have time for you and ran away so unprofessional. So the girl called me up and only offered $9 for half a dozen pairs of shoes and said they were only interested in 2 of them. So at this point I'm pissed. Then she literally shoved one shoe in my face claiming there was a stain and I never saw the stain and that's when I just gave up I know she was just mad because I clapped back at her manager for being freaking rude. Since the last review was about a year ago and around the time of the opening, I can say that in my 4 visits over the last several months, I had quite the different experience. The first time I sold at this location, they took quite a few items, of which many were older clothes, that while in good condition, weren't the newest items I had. The selection is broad, and unedited, with no sense of focus for the shopper. I was dismayed that on every trip I was virtually ignored by the staff until I was ready to complete my sell and check out. On subsequent visits, the staff was too busy talking very negatively about selling customers to bother to greet or offer not only me but other customers as well. I did attempt to sell again, but items recently purchased and worn once were either not good enough for the buyer or were assigned ridiculously low value. I chose not to complete the transaction, as the offer was insulting, as were the excuses as to the offer. In shopping that time around, I found a dress I liked but it had an obvious hole in it! Yet, they cited minor condition issues with some of the nearly new items I was selling. Finally, I brought a high end designer handbag in on my last visit and the buyer looked at it for LITERALLY 10 seconds and claimed they couldn't buy it for condition issues. My issue with this stance is that even if the value is lower because of condition, a high end handbag warrants SOME offer of value. I don't think a dismissive employee is what a chain resale shop has in mind, yet this store is staffed with a majority of them. I am HUGELY disappointed in this store, the staff, the policies and overall experience at Clothes Mentor. I would hope the manager takes a good look at her, employees and store! read more

I was disappointed in this store. I visited the store in N. Arlington before it closed and was expecting this one to be similar. It smelled funny. The clothes were very outdated, more for the much older crowd and I'm 45! I also thought it odd that of all the items I was selling, they bought the older items and refused the items that were newer and only worn once.
