It used to be an awesome and challenging ride many years ago, but now it's way over crowded and congested. I've ridden it several times. Been on it in summer and fall, in rain and fog, and ridden it in both directions. I've ridden it on sport bikes, adventure bikes and touring bikes. The last time I rode it, (and it was the last time ever) traffic was so heavy that the pace wasn't even close to 30mph, more like 15-20 and below. I've ridden in parades that moved faster, and that is exactly what it felt like, riding in a parade minus the horse crap to dodge. Even saw a few sheriff vehicles and thankfully one that was in front of me for a bit actually stopped an oncoming car that came through a switchback left of center, nice! If you're looking for a challenging ride that gets your heart pounding and adrenaline flowing, this is no longer the destination, keep searching. If you like wieners and cool t-shirts this is definitely the spot.

"Do NOT touch lamp, do NOT get the signs out of order (vintage sign replicas in a bin, how are you supposed to get them out of order?), do NOT, do NOT, do NOT - there was even a sign on a cheap little clown figurine that read "broken by a LOSER" (I assume this LOSER must have been an actual customer)?! Mind you, nothing in the shop was actually vintage or antique - all just typical souvenir quality reprints. My husband and I looked at each other like "oookkkaaayyyy" and put our selections back on the shelf and left. The souvenir shops in this area are a dime a dozen and it's unfortunate that a shop with a "stand out" name like Tarnished Swan didn't have the customer service to match.
