Bernard doesn't bother paying his bills. Even after promising to, several times.

Amber was pleasant and conversational during the quick 45 min or so service. I must mention however that this was our third time scheduling in order to get this done. The original appointment was canceled a few hours before its time on a Saturday due to Amber having a flat tire. No problem. We rescheduled for the next day- Sunday at 9am. I moved some things around and went to the closed shop at 9am on Sunday and no one showed up. I politely texted and called once but got zero answer at all the entire day as to this no show. I politely called the next day, Monday, and although there was no apology or explanation for her no show at the appointment, we arranged for the appointment to be Wednesday afternoon. I showed up at the time we agreed upon and the service went without a hitch. It was $30 for the deposit and $45 for the rest of the service totaling $75 without tip. No physical cards accepted but all of the electronic payment forms are accepted. Other than the scheduling issues, I am happy with the service. I wasn't told not to wear anything like sunscreen beforehand and only told during the service that I should not have as it reduces the ability of the tint to stick to the hair, so I think moving forward some pre-instructions as well as aftercare instructions would be nice to provide to clients. Overall, good technique but some improvements can be made regarding professionalism.

I had to cancel the night before my second appointment because I had been exposed to Covid by my fiancé; we'd been together all weekend and the entire day of the positive test. I reached out to reschedule as soon as we saw the test results. Amber was unconcerned and wrote that I could move my appointment if I was okay with losing my deposit--I might as well have been a no-show. Still, even with her lack of accommodation, I wouldn't risk the health of the aesthetician and the clients after me just to keep my deposit. That's dangerous and unethical. I'm concerned about their lack of protocol when it comes to Covid, especially with the new variants. Amber's blasé tone was as striking as her unwillingness to accommodate a client who reached out with health and safety concerns; it also raises red flags about their hygiene standards and sanitation. I'm appalled and grossed out. Not only did they forego the remainder of my fee because I'm now unwilling to reschedule knowing how dismissively they handle health concerns, they've also lost me as a client and gained a poor review for their lack of hygiene protocols. *Update* A day after I posted this review, Amber contacted me to refund my deposit. I sincerely appreciate this gesture and added a star to my review because of it. Still, their lack of Covid safety protocols and the fact that this was even an issue to begin with still gives me pause. The safety and wellbeing of clients and staff is paramount and, sadly, I don't see it reflected in their business practice. Thank goodness that I had the sense not to keep my appointment, as I tested positive for Covid this afternoon.

Faux Real offers lash and brow services in a very clean and professional environment…read more Wendy did an amazing job doing a combo nano shadowing and hair stroke blading on my eye brows last year. Before I booked we had a video consultation and she answered all of my questions and gave me a ton of information to read about what to expect during and after the treatment. It made me really comfortable and excited to make this investment. After the service, she had a kit with products and instructions on what to do and expect for about 2 weeks following. I booked a touch up at about the 1 year mark because it's generally recommended. However, once I got there, she took a look and informed me that I didn't need a touch up, but just a brow wax. I really appreciated this level of honesty and integrity as a business owner. There is a huge price difference between any permanent makeup procedure and a simple wax so she didn't make as much as she would have expected today. However her commitment to doing what's best for me as a client and my skin really made me feel good. I don't really do any lash services but would definitely patron Faux Real if I should in the future. Also, my eye brows look incredible! She is very knowledgeable and friendly. The space is clean and welcoming. I appreciate the ease of scheduling online and even paying the deposit when I book. All scheduling and payment is through the Vagaro app, which I appreciate because you can link a credit card there and not have to go through any weird cash app or Zelle situation at the completion of your service. I would recommend Faux Real to anyone looking for knowledgeable permanent makeup solutions and lash services.

A Masterclass in Unprofessionalism Disguised as Beauty Service…read more It is rare that I feel compelled to leave a review, but my recent experience, or rather, a relative of mine's experience, Gina Rogers, warrants both documentation and warning. Back in December, a thoughtful Christmas gift was arranged: a fully prepaid microblading session was purchased for my relative. A kind and generous gesture, one would think -- but what ensued over the following months was a symphony of disorganization, dismissiveness, and outright disrespect. Despite the service being paid for in full months ago, my relative was strung along by the technician's forgetfulness and lack of communication. The original plan, for the technician to perform the service while visiting my relative's city, was evidently forgotten. When another relative of mine reached out again, trying to salvage the situation, arrangements were made for my relative to visit the technician's studio instead. What followed was nothing short of baffling. Upon arrival, my relative was met not with warmth or professionalism, but suspicion, as if she were attempting to scam a service that had already been compensated four months prior. The technician, seemingly unaware (or unbothered) that the payment had long since cleared, treated my relative with thinly veiled irritation, as though doing her a favor rather than honoring a paid appointment. The atmosphere did not improve. Throughout the session, my relative was openly mocked for her natural reactions that she simply cannot control. One might expect a beauty professional to show empathy, patience, or at the very least, basic decorum. Instead, my relative was treated as though her humanity were an inconvenience. There is a word for this type of experience: unacceptable. To dismiss a paying client's needs, mocked by something they can't control, and fumble something as fundamental as honoring a prepaid service is not just bad business -- it's disrespectful. Aesthetic skill can only carry a practitioner so far. Without kindness, without professionalism, and without accountability, what remains is a hollow practice. I would strongly urge others to seek their services elsewhere, from someone who values not just their craft, but the dignity of the people who walk through their doors.

I called at 10:35 and was given a 12:30 appointment. I also texted photos of my lashes from above…read moreand below. Apparently, the pictures were never looked at because when I arrived, Gina Rogers thought that it was a good idea to critique the work of the previous lash tech and make faces. I attempted several times to get a word in edgewise, but Gina Rogers decided that her time was better spent over-talking me and explaining that, "her" lashes were natural and that she didn't even have lashes the length that I was wearing, and what type of lashes did the previous tech use and that my lashes weren't extensions, but individuals, blah, blah, blah. I get it, Gina Rogers prefers to create a specific, limited, defined look. However, if that is the case, this is similar to a hairstylist that will only create 1 certain hairstyle. In any case, truth in advertising is key. Make it clear to all comers that they must have virgin lashes, (Oh, because she, "doesn't like to work behind others...") AND post a photo on your social media with a disclaimer that you will ONLY create THAT look. Problem solved.

That always makes me happy. I was able to get an appointment that week with esthetician Lauren. You'll probably miss this spot when you first arrive because its inconspicuously tucked away inside a nondescript office building. See my photos of the exterior of where to go and you'll save yourself a bit of time and confusion. There's a few metered spots directly outside the office building as well as a metered parking lot behind the building. Flawless is on the second floor and the elevator didn't look like it worked, so be prepared for stairs in terms of accessibility. Their space is super cute, welcoming and buzzing with happy clients. This was the first time I ever had a lash lift, and Lauren was great! She was very knowledgeable, walked me through the process, and followed COVID safety protocol. The building itself is older, and in her service room, it was super muggy when we started my service. I was overheating and she was kind enough to put on the AC specifically to make me more comfortable. I loved my lashes afterwards and they lasted longer than I expected. Comparatively, their prices are fair and even with other local businesses. They also offer tanning and other beauty services, and I won't hesitate to return here for a future service. I'm glad I tried a lash lift with Lauren and definitely have another one in my future!

A few things: You said I booked a $25 beard trim. What I actually booked was a $32 (obviously,…read morebefore the reversal). I can show you the receipt. You said I was 11 minutes late. 11 minutes. Most dentists, doctors' offices, and social services offices provide a grace period of 15 minutes. That's a reasonable accommodation for traffic conditions. Even still, being 11 minutes late has nothing to do with me not having an empty chair when I got there. I could understand if it was 20 minutes. I arrived early to my 1st and 2nd appointments; and, the 1st appointment was good , which is why I booked the 2nd. I still waited 30-40 minutes before the second appointment began. On my 3rd appointment, I waited 10 minutes until the receptionist was off the phone just to be checked in and told that another barber would be completing my service. I said OK and was told he was finishing up. I waited another 10 minutes (while I read the reviews of the lounge) before I walked out. If we are talking about punctuality, I'll give you the 11 minutes, and you still owe me some time. I guess all those other people in the reviews complaining about your double-booking were 11 minutes late as well. You already stated in your own words, "To feel slighted is absolutely understandable and I will personally own that." There is nothing more to say after that. To accuse me of being condescending when all I am doing is telling my side tells me two things. #1, you don't know what condescending means. And #2, you don't know what accountability means. Lastly, I have never seen or spoken with a Lozell S. I spoke with a woman that day. I did not get her name. I was never asked, nor was I ever offered an opportunity to speak with the owner. If I had, I would have taken that opportunity. I am a reasonable person. I asked her if I could receive 50% back. She said no refunds. I said OK. She never mentioned a refund at all. I took it like a life lesson, and I left peacefully. I did not know I had been given a refund until after I left my initial review. Even then, I only asked for 50% back. If anyone says anything different, it is a lie. I did receive the deposit back, and it is appreciated. To anyone reading this: Read my comment carefully. Then read the response from the owner. Then ask yourself if you really want to take the chance of having to deal with this. A professional owner would have stopped at "To feel slighted is absolutely understandable, and I will personally own that." Instead, this owner would rather call the customer a liar in a Yelp review. Read the other reviews and ask yourself if you think I'm lying. This has been wild.
