Do you know how people portray where there from as being the best place and this that and the…read morethird..well my experience in my hometown at a beauty salon called off the top was TERRIBLE..Now me and my grandmother are african american descent and in no shape or form are we prejudice but our experience led us to believe that we still live with the inevitable today..My grandmother's class reunion was coming up and my mother and I tried to make her a hair appointment to get her hair done at our regular salon's that we usually go to..unfortunately they were completely booked and couldnt fit my grandmother in for an appointment. So my mother and I browse the phonebook to look for some other salons that could do my grandmothers hair..my mother knew some lady that was mixed that could manage my grandmothers hair and she worked at Off The Top Beauty Salon on Scalp Ave. in Johnstown Pa 15904...So we made the appointment and she could see my grandmother at 4pm..mind you her reunion that day was at 6pm.. My grandmother and I went to the salon and arrived around 3:25-3:30..first of all can I say this salon was just ridiculous looking..it didn't look perfessional at all..it was dusty..it was just a mess. When we walked in none of the ladies that worked there acknowledged us..they said absolutely nothing to us the whole time..they just stared and walked back and forth in front of us. They had no shop etiquette. They didn't even notify the lady that was to do my grandmothers hair that she arrived or anything. I had to ask them how long the wait was going to be. The lady went back and asked and the women said about 5 minutes it was now 4:30pm and my grandmother was running on thin needles of no time. We got up and left and I said something to the women that showed no courtesy at all that they were dispicable and that we won't be returning and I hope there business goes under for lack of Costumer service along w/ all the other things that were visibly wrong with the establishment. As soon as we walked out the lady that was going to do my grandmothers hair walked out and had her hands up like "where you going?" I told my grandma to keep it moving. Upsetingly my grandma had to go buy a damn wig and to be quite honest with you she doesn't need it her hair is a natural curly shoulder length that is beautiful..she just needed it washed, colored, and styled. I won't tell you not to visit this location but I'm telling you my experience here was poor. I was very angry with the way we were treated it was horrible. I had what I wanted in my head and I had looked just about everywhere else in town and this was the last place I decided to look. I walked in and around the store for some time and was about to give up until a sales associate saw the frustration behind my mask. After asking what I was looking for she took me right to the area that they were available in. Not only did she show me where to look, but she also told me about the multiple types of tweezers. She was amazing and knew exactly what I was looking for and had the knowledge to advise me what kind of tweezers would be best for me. And guess what, they were basically what I had pictured in my mind. Great customer service.

They gave me the worst hair cut of my life yesterday, 11/11/23…read more Around 3 yesterday day afternoon I went to get my hair trimmed after receiving a call earlier in the day from them telling me they had walk in availability. Which getting a call from a hair place is strange. But I need one so I went. The young lady spent over 40 minutes on my hair and at the end it is patchy and the lengths make no sense and she didn't even fade the different lengths together. I look like some one from the fifth element. I will never go this place again and I strongly advise anyone to steer as far away from here as possible.
