I was born and raised in the Bay Area, and I had the same barber for about 10 years. I have moved to the valley almost 4 years now and I have literally tried everywhere! And for me, I wouldn't say I am picky but I look for certain aspects in a barber, that's professionalism, experience, consistency, a sense of pride in their craftsmanship and attention to detail to my need and wants. It was frustrating at first and whoever is reading this, I am saving you all the trouble of the trial and era that I went through, so TRUST ME, and go here and ask for ANNA, if you need a clean fade, taper, undercut, you name it she can do it all! Anna is a great stylist. What she is doing working in this establishment is still yet to be determined. She did a great job on my fade and I would go back to her if she worked elsewhere. The other shop employees are down right disrespectful. They answer their personal cell phones in the middle of a cut, they text message, and also do not acknowledge the presence of customers standing at the counter. There was a time when you went to the barber shop for not just a shave and a haircut, but for the experience and the chance to get away from the world for a bit. There is nothing more annoying than to have a bad haircut, two of which I have had the pleasure of walking away from this shop with. One from the younger male, and the other from the younger female. Both of which could use a good dose of customer service training. If you're looking for a half ass haircut and bad customer service, by all means this is the shop for you. This place is AWESOME! Clean and friendly. Everyone cuts very well no matter who you go too, but you have to ask for Jackie she's the best. She is very nice, if you have an idea of what style you want she will do it and it will turn out exactly what you wanted. Some places you go to you don't really talk to the barber and you're just awkwardly waiting for the barber to finish up and just pay and leave, at clipper kings they always have something to say always asking hows your day/week has been. 2 members of the staff working. 1 female, 1 male both had customers in their chair and BOTH where either talking on personal cell phones or texting on the cell phones.. I had myself and my son. Was not greeted, was not told a time frame or anything. Yes I was there for a haircut and not a social interaction but COME ON!!!! Really?! After each haircut the two wandered the shop aimlessly, looked like they were confused and never said "i'll be right with you or anything". Not friendly for first time customers. It seems they're only welcoming to customers they know. I brought my 2 kids to get a haircut and we waited for 2 HOURS. The shop wasn't even busy. When it was our turn, one of the barber's friend just walked in and the barber served her friend instead of us and told me that her friend had an appointment. Her friend didn't even sign in. When they finally called my kids, one barber cut my kid's hair, and did a good job. However, the other barber that cut my other kid's hair gave me attitude, kept asking the other barber how to cut my kid's hair, and then went on her cell phone while cutting my kid's hair! Ever since I moved to Tracy I couldn't find a decent place to get my twin boys haircuts. Everywhere I went was horrible! But I'm so glad I brought them here! My girlfriend got her hair cut a couple times here by josue, he's awesome and super nice. He may seem shy at first, but he was talkative with my girlfriend and he didn't charge much. I have regular place that I go to in Newark to get a haircut, because when it comes to my haircut I'm very picky who cuts my hair. I want someone that really takes their time and make sure nothing are uneven after they finished cut it. I went to Clipper king, no doubt they are all doing tremendous job. This place is very slow and I would only recommend if you have an appointment and 1.5 hours. I have received about 10 haircuts from this place and most of the time it is only 1.5 hours for a walk in start to finish because they take their time and do a reasonably good job. Came in today with my 10-yr old son, was completely ignored by ALL the stylist. Sat and waited for any of them to become available and once one lady was available (after she tried delaying taking us for about 10+mins) she finally called us up. Got to her and showed her how I'd like my son's hair cut...after showing her she said "you can wait for someone else I don't know if I can cut his hair!" And turned and walked away. I'm sorry but if you have a license to cut hair, shouldn't your ability to cut hair be beyond "Caucasian" type hair???? All other stylist ignored me. I generally just walk in rather than making an appointment like I should and although they are usually swamped (and for good reason) they always make time to give me a perfect haircut! Staff rarely greets customers and there is no point in calling to make an appointment or put your name down on the list...they will skip you. The barbers here do a good job... if you can ever get to them. They ignore you.. and the wait list you sign. They only care about the appointments they have and are just rude. They are good.. but not that good to deal with attitude and being rude. I am from Hayward and we have plenty of shops where the barbers are nice friendly and do a great job. Super disappointing. My husband took my son to get his cut here and all 5 barbers kept looking over and pacing themselves slowly so they didn't have to be the one to cut his hair. Then he got a terrible haircut. I know kids move around a lot and it's hard to cut his hair but it's sticking up all over the place and looks ridiculous. Don't take your kids here. read more

I went in to this establishment today because of the great yelp reviews, however I don't see how anyone could give this place anything higher than one star. First off I walked in to an empty waiting room, three stylist were on staff all with a customer so I can understand if it would be strenuous to say a simple "hello." I wrote my name on the sign in sheet (pointless). After the male stylist finished praising the salon to a returning customer (while texting on his phone) he still didn't even acknowledge me sitting there. He presided to stay on his phone and walked out of the salon without an explanation. After one of the female stylist finished she asked me if I needed a haircut, I responded yes. but seriously I'm the only person here and I signed my name on your list. Still no hello. The haircut was ok, can't really complain, i mean it's only $20. I would hope that a stylist would know that a "fade" means the same thing as a "taper" and I didn't appreciate her schooling me when I asked her to get rid of the line on the back my head. Over all I was disappointed on the unprofessional environment, the lack of skill and knowledge but mostly the horrible customer service. This place is Fabulous. The staff is friendly and the shop is always clean. I take my son here to get his fades. I really don't know all the barbers names but one of the girls does his cut. Just got faded and lined up by Anna, she is my preferred now, been to Master Barber James, he's the shiz, seems pretty busy/booked, Adrianna did a cooh job last time too, but Anna is my favorite now. There is another lady there in the front but havn't had my haircut by her. I recently moved to the area from the east bay. It was difficult to break away from my barber who I've used for years, but Clipper Kings made it easy to do so, mainly because of the awesome job and the detail they put into each cut. I've been to pretty much every one of the girls who cuts hair here and have never had a bad experience with anyone. I'm from the bay and I thought I had to keep going back to my old barber in Hayward to get my cut right, but This place did a better job! And it's right around the corner. I been going to Clipper King for awhile now and pretty much everyone has cut my hair and I haven't had a bad haircut yet. This establishment has Only one male barber and 4 female barbers. You would be surprised but those lady's really know what their doing, they know everything when it comes to a mans Haircut. Bottom line, You just have to check it out for yourself. They all know what there doing, I'm always changing my style and it always comes out right. They must only hire the best ones. I'm always happy. Another big plus is all the lady's are good looking. The staff is very friendly, clean shop, and very dependable crew. Sports going on, TV's everywhere and there always open on time! My last barber was good but ghetto, never showed up when he said, so I appreciate they have convenient hours. This may not sound like a big deal, but it is, they take credit cards and that's a big plus because all those other outdated barbershops are only cash and that's a burden on the customers. ***PLEASE READ***** I have been coming to Clipper King ever since the store has been opened up by the original owner, James. I really enjoyed the great services, and awesome customer service, and always left happy with my haircut, but also keep in mind this was when James owned the store. After James left the store, and was under new management, I started to go to Adriana Ruiz. Adriana Ruiz has been working at Clipper King ever since James was the owner and I saw that she was doing a great job, I went to her and only her. The new manager I believe Daina ( I may be spelling her name wrong ) seemed quite at first. After years, yes YEARS of coming to Adriana Ruiz at Clipper King I called in to make an appointment. When I called Clipper King I asked if Adriana was available and they told me no. I asked if they knew when she was coming back, they said no. So I got tired of one worded answers, I asked to speak to the manager Daina. I asked Daina where Adriana Ruiz was and she said she left, and i told her I only trusted her with my hair. Daina then tries to tell me " you don't need to go to Adriana Ruiz, there's better people in Clipper King who have a lot time and is good " time was not the point, how the haircut came out was the important reason. Keep in mind this phone call was to ask where Adriana Ruiz was and Daina still tires to forcefully make me come to Clipper King which I did not like, finally I Daina that I'm not coming to Clipper King unless Adriana Ruiz was there, and so after 12min... Yes you read right, 12min on the phone I finally got off the phone. I finally found Adriana Ruiz and went to her. Everyone at Clipper King knew Adriana left to another store and Daina was not telling me where she went she was hiding it from the customer so she doesn't lose her business. Is this what a manager is suppose to do? UNACCEPTABLE! Everyone at Clipper King knew where Adrian Ruiz went but I'm 100% sure Daina has told everyone in the store to not tell any of the customers where Adriana Ruiz went or moved to so she doesn't loose her customers. YOU DO NOT BUY YOUR CUSTOMERS, YOU EARN THEM, SAME WAY ADRIANA HAS EARNED MY CUSTOMER SERVICE. Clipper King used to be the best place to go, now with new management and new workers, it's not the same, some workers there aren't as friendly as they used to be when James was in the store. And as for Daina being the manager, it's sad to see a manager trying their hardest to pull me in because her workers have time to cut my hair and how they do a better job than Adriana Ruiz??? I'm sorry but I don't believe talking down on an old employee is alright especially from a manager. THIS IS NOT THE ORIGINAL CLIPPER KING IT USED TO BE. I no longer go to Clipper King and never will.
