We have brought one of our Frenchies over here for the first time and was very satisfied with all that they have helped with. Since we have moved back to Cali after 7 years, we have gone to several different vets for many different reasons and learned that while others are stuck in their routine of listening to an issue we have with the pup to going directly to masking the problem that doesn't really "fix" the issue and prevent recurrence. Or the fix is costly with no other avenues or guidance. Or we show up and the waiting queue is so long that we get turned away or the office is closed on weekends or evenings that we are forced to seek services at the next location only to receive the same type of unsatisfying service. What I do love about Clinton Keith Veterinary Hospital is that they listened, gave several options for us to choose from, educated us on what may help with skin issues or other common health issues, how to eliminate probable causes to pinpoint what may be the best course of action to eliminate the problem all together. Our little Frenchie had been experiencing skin issues, and visible build up in the eyes and folds, and was bloated. We have seen several vets while all kept recommending changing the food...after spending so much on different foods at a gradual introduction to allow my pup to ease into new food, there was no progress. Finally we took my pup to Clinton Keith Vet and they were very direct. The first recommendation was to remove a specific type of food and for Frenchies...majority of the ones they have seen were allergic to chicken or some type of grain or something of that sort. Immediately I recalled that while alternately feeding my pup chicken and beef, my pup would always have leftovers when fed the chicken. So I started to exclude anything that had chicken. While the bloating lessened, the build up in the eyes and folds continued. So the vet recommended "Hydrolyzed" dog food by Royal Canin and we saw instant results! The bloating stopped the buildup cleared and my pup has been a lot more active, seemed happier, and was back to his spunky self I hadn't seen in a long while! We are grateful to have reached out to Clinton Keith and wish I had done so sooner. read more

To say the last 6 weeks have been a nightmare is an understatement. My dog had a large tumor removed from her leg and ended up with a long and deep incision. No antibiotics were sent home after the surgery even though I repeatedly asked if she needed some and was told no. No internal sutures were placed which they should have because the tumor was so deep. After taking her back 3 times because the incision kept opening, she went in a 4th time and had a drain placed and resutured again. Not until the wound started to smell was she started on antibiotics. Again the wound opened exposing the whole inside tissue and the drain. I ended up having to take her to the emergency vet where the doctor actually placed internal sutures and a proper j-peg drain to keep the wound as dry as possible. A culture was also done that showed there was 3 bacteria's growing in the wound which resulted in her having to get a $500 antibiotic injection and 2 more antibiotics. I ended up continuing her treatment with the ER vet at his clinic and will not be going back to this place. Due to the damaged tissue from resuturing it so much, it started to open again which resulted in having to get a laser treatment and special bandage that needs to be changed every 2 days and costs me $75 each bandage change. This whole ordeal has caused a tremendous amount of pain and trauma to my fur baby and to our family and has amounted to almost $5000 in additional vet bills, added to the initial $2000 surgery. To this day, I have not gotten any follow up call from them after emailing a picture of the wound before taking her to the ER vet, nor the final results of her biopsy to see if the whole cancerous tumor was removed. *Warning, the pictures are a bit graphic, but shows what we have been dealing with. read more

Brought my cat Yoyo in for a pre-spay exam and, as usual, showed up with 14 thoughts at once and zero chill (). Skye, the nurse, was insanely kind and we instantly bonded over neonatal kitten care like two sleep-deprived goblins who've seen things ('-') My dog Booker, who beat cancer two years ago, happened to be in the car as emotional support for Yoyo (def not at all for me) (´* *`). I mentioned he'd been a little lethargic lately and they got him in for a checkup about 20 minutes later. I immediately booked precautionary bloodwork the same day because my ADHD brain hears "keep an eye on it" and ACTUALLLLLYYY hears it as "schedule everything right now" ; Everyone here is patient, warm, and genuinely caring. No judgment, just people who clearly love animals and somehow handle chaotic pet parents with kindness (´｡* *｡`). I have been bringing my doggies here for 3 years now. The front desk is always so nice on the phone and in person. The veterinarians are knowledgeable and great with my dogs. The vet techs are also very good with my dogs. They are not emergency vets, so if something happens, you would have to go elsewhere. They only have certain medications on hand. I had to go through Chewy.com to get my dogs flea and heartworm preventative medicines. They are super cool with it and fax over the prescription when needed. They are open on Saturdays, which is great. I think their prices are standard and competitive. Their lobby is clean as clean can be with animals coming through. They have chips and candy while you wait. They are such a great place to bring your pets. read more

I have been to this pet hospital several times and have had great experiences with Dr. Witherby, Dr. Elamir, and Dr. Matinick (five stars). Today I was unfortunately scheduled with Dr. Emilee Wong. She did not even almost give me the confidence of the other three vets on staff. Maybe she's fresh out of school? She price gouged the visit (first time experiencing this in this office) and she failed to provide any aftercare. I was literally shocked. No wound care instructions given verbally or in writing. Anyone in veterinary care and/or health care should know and stress importance of wound care. I'm so disappointed. Now I know I need to specifically request one of the more seasoned veterinarians when scheduling. read more

We have been customers of this vet for years and have had great experiences until tonight. Our aussie puppy is 12 weeks. Sits, shakes, potty trained, sleeps thru the night and is completely comfortable at restaurants and meeting new people. They took her back for round 2 of shots and we could hear her screaming from back. Not yelping, SCREAMING. 10 mins later Dr Wetherby comes in, admits that she fell off the table, and then blames it on her behavior and demeanor. Saying that she needs classes before she gets aggressive. Maybe Dr Wetherby needs classes on bedside manner and not letting dogs fall off tables. Great front desk staff, great other vets but do not use Dr wetherby. read more

Last week I unfortunately found a our neighbor cat that I've been taking care of and feeding in the middle of the street, I was pretty heartbroken as I was so attached to this lil guy. I couldn't leave him in the street, he wasn't just a stray. So Cliton Keith was the 1st place I called. The person who answered the phone was great, like I said I was hurt and crying. She took her time with me and consoled me, I truly appreciate the staff here. We picked up our lil guys ashes yesterday with a beautiful wooden box an engraved plaque with is name "Tang Clarin" words cant express my gratitude for the inclusion of his last name. I forgot to put "Tang Clarin" down on the paperwork. I am so grateful for that. I also received a paw print of his lil toe beans and a snippet of his ginger hair. Thank you so much for everything. I have a diabetic dog and they help me provide my dog with the best care. Over the years, we've learned a strategy to keep the costs low, and still have access to things that make diabetes easier to manage. For example, most commercial vets will prescribe Vetsulin which is super expensive ($80-$100) and wasn't properly regulating my dogs sugar. He would have unknown highs and lows throughout the day. The vets here work together to listen to my needs: affordable insulin that works well. We've been using Novalin N ($24) from Walmart which is 1/4 the cost of Vetsulin and his highs and lows are less frequent. Walmart also provides the syringes for about $15/ box whereas the CVS or other brands are typically $39. This vet also provides his food. Royal Canin Glycobalance. It's not cheap but it works. I buy it from this vet because they offer a price competitive to Pet Smart and I don't have to fuss with Pet Smart's prescription card policy or hunt for coupons. This vet provides it for an already low price that is reasonable and makes me feel good for supporting a local small business. They also provide me with FreeStyle Libre continuous glucose sensors which I use at times when I need to provide extra monitoring for my dog's sugar, but mostly for doing his curve test. This determines if an adjustment is needed for his daily insulin. A curve test with any vet is costly but the sensors allow me to do it myself at home. (FYI - if you use these too, my suggestion is to use pet clippers to get a nice close shave of about 3 inches diameter, and add a few drops of 3M surgical glue to the sensor before you apply it, and then after the sensor is on use the clear Fixic patches to hold it on... and I usually apply it to his shoulder where he can't scratch it or lick it) They're close to my home and their office is beautiful! The staff is always super nice and helpful.... Sometimes they're busy - especially on the weekends so please be patient as they are working extra hard. All of these things, Clinton Keith Vet has been the best for making my life easier, keeping my dog alive, and saving me money. Dog owners beware!!! I took my dog here to have a large mole removed on her side and from start to finish this place was very off putting firstly right when I came in the techs did nothing to stop another person from letting their dog sniff my dog after I clearly stated multiple times not to bring her dog around mine they just stood there and looked bothered by my presence. When I finally was brought back to a room they just took my dog to another area to inspect her and didn't say much to me at all and were gone for a very long time. The DR seemed very cold and uninterested in my concerns and questions and just pushed for surgery and didn't really say much to me or my mom about anything involving the surgery and when we were given the paper break down there was stuff in there we did NOT ask for including a cone when we stated multiple times we have a cone already. After her surgery which they made me bring her at 7am when her surgery wasn't until 1pm so she sat there in a cage all day and when my dad picked her up they didn't really say much in terms of info about the surgery or anything. When we took her to get her stitches out the tech dragged my dog across the floor because she was scared and didn't even bring us into a room to allow my dog to not be scared. They then brought her out and just said here she's good to go with no after care instructions and overall this experience was very disheartening considering the positive reviews this place has. The receptionist were not nice, Dr was very cold and overall I left feeling very unhelped and not very good at all. I will never ever come back here. read more

Dr. Witherby and his staff made the recent passing of our beloved pup, Jake, just a bit easier. Jake, our Golden Retriever, was diagnosed with lymphoma at 10.5 years old. It was aggressive. We lost him in less than 2 months. The front office and Dr. Witherby were so compassionate and understanding with my frequent phone calls. It's not an easy thing to navigate. I couldn't believe how accessible the doctor was, and so patient with my questions. When we had to put him to sleep, we were amazed at the love, concern, and support of everyone. Dr. Witherby stayed with us through the process and even our grieving afterward. We've been patients for years, and we love them there. When the time is right to add to our family again, we'll be back. Until then, we recommend them to others. read more

I had taken my dog in to get checked for a x-ray because I knew there was something wrong with him and instead she said he's breathing fine we don't need to do a x-ray he probably just needs anxiety meds (since he was so attached to me bc I was pregnant). Well a month later I gave birth to my baby and we came home to introduce our dog and the baby and didn't even get the chance because our dog couldn't get up so we called the vet and they told us to go to another hospital and my husband had to watch our dog die in the back of car and when he finally got to the other vet they found a tumor on his spleen that ruptured. So if they had just x-ray our dog we could've handle the situation better. And wouldn't have such a traumatic story of bringing our baby home. We were in such a high all of it to be brought down by losing one of our other babies. So if you go here make sure you ask to go back with them to watch what they do to your animals. read more

Before I get into my edited review , please know that as of this date 12/29/2022 , this facility's "veterinary premises license" is "cancelled" . Furthermore (and perhaps the reason for the former) , their "Veterinary Assistant Controlled Substance Permit" is "expired". Both of these are REQUIRED and it's more than a little alarming that they are in this status. If you google what exactly these entail, it will make more sense as to why they're important EDITED REVIEW: saddens me a great deal to see just how far downhill this vet has gone. In fact, I'd have left MONTHS ago or even a year ago if not for dr witherby. He's literally the only reason I'm still a bringing my pets here. The current front desk staff is quite frankly.... USELESS. And often rude as well. Deanna is the only competent front desk employee they have there now. Everyone else is gone. They are lucky they have dr witherby because he's the only glue holding that place together as far as I'm concerned .. It used to be that I couldn't say enough nice things about this vet . That has DRASTICALLY changed. Pretty much a 180 degree turn in the wrong direction. Very very sad and disappointing. If dr. w ever leaves, I'm NEVER coming back . Lastly, I just want to quickly bullet point the things that have altered my view about this business and the things that used to make them a great vet that they no longer do or seem to care about 1. Hours NEVER match what's listed online (that applies to even within the multiple online listings as well) , to what's on their phone, to what's on their door, etc. so now I've noticed they have a recording that just basically says in a nutshell, that their hours are all over the map and what was true yesterday may or may not be true today. 2. NEVER rely on their word for callbacks for ANY reason whether it be for appointments, prescriptions, questions , EVEN EMERGENCIES! (Unless you've spoken to Deanna ) 3. I know of at LEAST 3 instances where front desk have flat out lied (both verbally and in written records ) regarding following up with me about something important . 4. They never do courtesy appt reminders anymore (I realize this is minor and is a courtesy service but nonetheless , it contributes to the overall customer experience) 5. They've eliminated vaccine reminders completely which I don't understand at all.. particularly since that results in revenue and because unlike appointments, most customers are NOT going to be tracking the timelines for different vaccines . I don't know any vet that doesn't do this except this one . 6. They no longer send sympathy cards after your pet has passed that were signed by the staff . This one , more than all the rest, upsets me most . And that's because it tells me they simply don't really care anymore. Whether or not that's actually true is irrelevant. That's the impression they are giving and that's what's key. Every time I used a I get those in the mail , I was very touched and it really went a long way. Sadly, my last 2 pets that have passed in the last 2 years... radio silence . 5. I have been going here for my animals for about 15 years. Sadly I am having to switch vets. I believe they are either over booked and/or understaffed. One of my pets had an issue with his eye like it was scratched or something. I called for an appointment and the soonest they could see him was over a week later! We are supposed to have our pets in pain and discomfort and let things just be for a week or more? That is unacceptable in my opinion. I feared I was going to have to take him to an emergency hospital, which would cost a small fortune as it always does but I of course was willing to pay. I started calling around in a panic and was able to book an appointment at LE Animal Hospital that was 30 minutes after my phone call to them. Instant appointment for a new patient even. Ok, we've used this clinic twice recently for our standard poodle. They've been amazing and reasonably priced as well. Dog had gotten ahold of coccidia somewhere (likely the park around the corner from the house) and they were able to recommend a bland diet combined with probiotics and antibiotics, cleared her up quickly. She also had a small cyst on her side, just below her shoulder. They were able to drain the fluid and provided another round of antibiotics to ensure proper healing. Dog obviously doesn't care for any of this but it's great to know they have been thorough in their treatment and I haven't had to take out a loan to pay for the care. By contrast her old vet (I won't name here) was more expensive and not nearly as thorough. Very glad we found Clinton Keith Vet. read more

I took my cat (Piggy) in to the vet because he was acting like he was constipated He was urinating on a towel instead of his litter box and hiding in the closet The vet tried to tell me that he is older and couldn't get in the litter box I tried to tell him no that was not the problem that he jumps up on the kitchen counters and couch with no problem. He did not want to take him out of the cat carrier and just look at his gums and eye. No temp was taken or listening to his gut or heart rate. Decided to run blood work on him and while he was in back Piggy peed on the scale and they got a urine sample he had a little blood in his urine. They then told me is change is diet to a urinary track food. They also gave him a antibiotic shot. The vet then said he had crystals in his urine and he would call with in 2 days with blood work. He gave us no medication and still have not received a call about blood work Not sure if he was even a vet that look at him or just a tech read more

Quality work with the spay I had done. However they are overpriced and will do procedures that you inquire about and ultimately choose to forgo, charging you full price. Probably a fantastic emergency vet, however emergency prices should not be applied to routine/maintenence care. Plenty of other offices out there that offer comparable care without the exuberant pricing and won't provide and charge for procedures that you did not consent to. read more

All of my animals have come to this clinic their entire lives. My now 13 year old Frenchie needed a nail trim and I was told she couldn't be seen unless she had a current rabies vaccine. They have 13 years of her medical records which includes history of seizures and does NOT include being bitten by any rabid animals. They claim this is for the safety of their staff. They would not make an exception given our history there unless we made an appt to see the doctor which is unnecessary. Due to her age and risk of side effects this is dangerous. They also quit seeing pets in the room with the owners which is not good practice either. I am immediately changing vets due to this ridiculous requirement. There are better vets in town. read more

They do not keep to their words, yeah they are nice but taking care of a lab test that could have altered if my cat was alive today would have been better then a kind atmosphere. My baby could have been alive still and had a fighting chance but this place took over 72 hours and we didn't even get the tests. Do yourself a favor pay a little extra for gas and vet bills and go to CVS (California Veterinary Specialist) they get back to you within 5 hours and I've seen them work magic on others by raising money for clients, be truthful, kind, caring. I used to go to the Murrieta oaks veterinarian, and both times they charge me $500-$700. they would've been more if I would've paid for the things they wanted done. -This vet charged me $160. I couldn't believe it and I am so thankful. the last time I went to Murreta Oaks veterinarian was two years ago. I can't imagine what I would've been charged now one example this place charged $95 for bloodwork and Murrieta Oaks charged $177. they are compassionate with your pet and the atmosphere was very clean. I've taken my oldest dog to this location once before, 4 or 5 years ago. They took care of us well enough that we wanted to come with our youngest dog. We made an appointment for today at 5 pm. I left work early, packed up the kids, wife and dog. We showed up 10 mins early to ensure we weren't late. We try to check in and are told that they are waiting on a room. No big deal, we were 10 mins early so we figured we'd wait a bit. 30 mins goes by and still nothing. At this point I am wondering what's going on since they technically close within 10 mins. I approach the receptionist and ask what the status was for our appointment, that was set for 5. I am told they are still waiting on a room. I ask how long this may take. She can't provide an answer. I question what the point of an appointment is if, 25 mins later, we still aren't being seen. At this point she mentions that there was 2 emergencies that came in at 3 pm. Understandable explanation but what I can't agree with is the fact that they didn't reach out to their scheduled appointments to let them know there may be delays. This is basic customer service. Why not be courteous to those who are working their schedule around you already? I ask why we weren't notified ahead of time. She has no answer other than we could reschedule or cancel. So I cancel and will now be finding a new Vet. read more

I'm so upset! It seemed my dog stepped on something and I brought her here to get it taken out. The vet walked in and didn't even look at her. They told us they would have to do surgery and put her under and wouldn't take a look at it. I have a very strong feeling it was because she's a pit bull. They never even gave us a diagnosis. Just wrapped her in a bandage, gave us antibiotics, took our money and left. It all happened so fast when we got in the car we look at each other so confused. This is my second time writing this review since apparently my first was deleted! I had a horrible experience with the veterinarian Elamur (misspelled). His demeanor and display was patronizing cold and rude. I have a dog that we rescued 7 years ago. Two years after rescuing him he was diagnosed with diabetes. We have struggled with managing his condition because he has very brittle blood sugar. He has has several incontinent accidents over the years and he dribbles constantly (even with a secondary medication called Proin ER/and the regular Proin too). Our dog was also recently diagnosed with cataracts as well and we were told by a vet he will be going blind. We were given this information and told it could be as soon as 6mos. I have also tried to rehome him with Shadow Husky Rescue and was told d/t Kodas significant medical needs and advanced age (approx 11) that he would not be a good fit for their program. And I know that dropping him off at the shelter would only lead to a dark and lonely euthanasia 3-4 wks after being surrendered. To complicate matters further I have a disabled son who is turning 22 this month. He is one of twins and tragically he stopped breathing at birth and he requires 24/7 care. He has a trach/gtube/ventilator at night/wheelchair/suction machine and a host of daily requirements/treatments to his daily care. My son was recently hospitalized and he had a serious infection. He was even having seizures as a result of a high temperature. I was preparing for the worst outcome and I was very distraught...as was our whole family. I am a single woman and do not have a husband to help with the load. It was with a heavy heart that my kids and I decided to put Koda down. We took Koda on a long and beautiful hike as a family, and gave him a special treat of 3 cheeseburgers too. We came in for our appt and I tearfully explained our circumstances to this vet in the presence of 2 of my adult children and my 14 year old. This vet was so inappropriate and unprofessional. He hopped up on the counter and even began to swing his legs (like a child) as I spoke. He then proceeded to tell me that our situation sounded more like inconvenience than medical necessity! His demeanor and display were abrasive and callous. He told us he would not be euthanizing Koda but that other vets surely would and to seek this service elsewhere. My kids and I were shocked /horrified/disgusted with his response and treatment. What kind of 'professional' treats families this way? I have since located another service who confirmed that this situation is in fact medically justifiable especially considering how long we have managed the dogs care as well as the recent diagnosis of cataracts that will render the dog blind within the year. I understand that euthanizing any animal is a serious and final act and should be handled with care and consideration...but that is not what happened in our case. My extenuating circumstances surrounding the care of my son are extreme and very significant, and so is the medical diagnosis and age of the dog. This individual has a very limited ability to provide care in the field he works. He obviously has serious character defects that effect his delivery of care to human beings. What a group of clowns and money takers. You choose a supposed high care facility for your most cherished animals. You invest in all the appropriate vaccinations and doctors visits as discussed, and when tragedy strikes these losers leave your animal in pain and suffering and pass you off to any old emergency vet service. I will choose to take my business elsewhere and I warn anyone that thinks this is a proper place of business. In general, they are a poor excuse of a veterinarian hospital. A positive outcome from a misunderstanding... I had taken my dog in for allergies and an ear infection. After my dog was examined and treated, I was given a quote for the services rendered and prescriptions recommended. Unfortunately that quote I agreed to, ended up not being the total amount due at time of payment... I was being asked to pay more than what I was quoted. After reviewing this with the owner, he apologized to me for the discrepancy and adjusted my bill only charging me what I was originally quoted. I really appreciate that he made the adjustment for me and took ownership of my experience. He explained to me what happened and why the difference which I appreciated and also understood how this happened. have been coming to Dr. Rusty's for the past 27 years for all my pet needs. Dr. Rusty saved the life of my Rhodesian Ridgeback when in the middle of the night she started having severe problems breathing and was given emergency care right there and then. Forward to last month, my Wolfhound X, got bit by a snake and because I waited too long to bring him in for treatment, he was already in a pretty critical state. Roger spent the night and received excellent care. Once more, one of my dogs was saved by Dr. Rusty.
