    Getting geared up

This facility is an amazing family owned and operated location. It is noteworthy to add that this facility has undergone new ownership and the one star review that can be viewed is while this facility was being ran under different management.. We found this location using a Google search and when compared to the other local options, it was easy to choose where we would go. We were not disappointed. From the initial sign up to the thorough orientation, there was no uncertainty that the employees are knowledgeable and have the skills to teach even a first time climber. The communication and customer service are extraordinary. The facility is well organized and the teachers are great. They offer numerous preview areas inside the gym for spectators and have wifi for a parent looking to multitask while their little climber is learning. I would highly recommend trying this facility

Eric is always willing to belay my daughter for me, and is so kind and patient with her - taking the time to teach her how to tie knots and about climbing.

Wow, what an experience! Had never been to any type of rock climbing gym before I visited this one…read moreand I was a little nervous. Heights aren't exactly my thing. The guy working, Max, was so super friendly! He walked us through all the safety instructions and was very patient with all the questions I had for him. This gym has harnesses and ropes so once you get to the top you just push yourself off the wall and "float" down. It was so much fun!!! He also gave helpful tips on how to successfully make it up the wall (it is not as easy as you may think!). My friend and I went on a Tuesday afternoon and we were the only ones in the rock climbing area which was super nice! We got Max's undivided attention. Though they also have indoor soccer here and we were told that they have games and tournaments that I would love to come back and watch.

The location of this place is quite a challenge to get to. Google maps isn't of any help either. If…read moreyou are coming from 59 north, take Bellaire/Fondren exit and once you get on the feeder Rd, take the first left past Italian Superbikes building. Once you see an open lot on your right side with luxury cars parked in it then YOU MADE IT! If you're coming from 59 south, take Hillcroft/West Park exit, make a u-turn and follow the latter half of the first instruction. I honestly circled around that placed about 3 to 4 times and I was almost ready to give up and go home lol. Trust me, the instructions above will save you time and FRUSTRATION. Place looks a bit sketchy I'll give you that, but I thought to myself.. hey if there are tons of luxury cars here, I know my car will be the last thing people will even bother messing with. TRUTH. Btw, I figured.. those cars belong to those guys who plays soccer in the same establishment. They have indoor soccer field as well. Now that we got that taken care of, we move on to the important stuff. This was my first indoor wall climbing experience and I was excited, scared, anxious - all the same time. I've always been interested in wall climbing but never really had the guts to actually try it out. I came here clueless, thinking I was going to depend on my cousin (who came along with me and who is also an experienced climber) to deal with my what-to-do and how-to-do kind of stuff questions. Luckily, Sergio (the instructor) was patient and accommodating enough to address my shenanigans. He thoroughly explained the rules, how-tos, and whatnot. He was also very generous enough to offer us a 50% discount our next climb! Set-up was pretty basic and straight to the point. You start on the right side if you're a beginner and gradually move your way to the left side as you get more advanced. It can be a little intimidating at first but you'll eventually get the hang of it. The routes/tracks are changed on a monthly basis if I remember correctly. The wall, equipments, and the area are vert well-kept! Absolutely coming back and recommending to friends. Such a challenging yet enjoyable experience!

The only downside is that all of the machines and free weights are in one room which is pretty large, but still feels cramped. The fitness area is also usually crowded, so expect to be pretty close to your neighbors! Also note that the cardio machines do not have personal TVs. Instead there are about 6 big screens hanging from the ceilings that you can choose from. This Y has a great group exercise schedule which includes Les Mills classes! I love going to BodyCombat and BodyFlow on week nights and Saturday mornings- it's an awesome workout and the instructors are phenomenal. I also appreciate that the group exercise schedule is easily available online so it's easy for me to reference on my phone while I'm on the go.

I've never experienced a daycare that only can handle kids at their absolute best. I'm a single mom, 3 kids could really use a break to work on my health. I've tried several times like they suggested and each time "the time my son needed to adjust" was cut shorter & shorter. I reached out to the daycare director.. was told I'd get a call back and crickets since then. It's been weeks so pretty much just handed over $100 I will definitely be requesting a refund. It's weird family is advertised when the daycare facility doesn't feel competent to soothe a child. Very sad.

Out of curiosity I looked up how many ninja gyms there are in the US... 191. That means, if every gym was equal, they would send less than 1/2 of an athlete... Iron sports sent NINE! BOOM Do you want to be a champion? You can be one here. If you just want fun, oh my gosh.... when my daughter had her 6th birthday party this year, my favorite part of the entire event was watching the looks on all the parents' faces. Every one of them was beaming. It is FUN watching your kid do this stuff. And inspiring too... cuz guess who started working out??? Me. The coaches are supportive and encouraging. When they see SuzieQ working on something (not in class, just on her own) they whoop and cheer her victories. They say hello when she walks in. She's six, but they say hello. They acknowledge her. That's vital because it builds a sense of belonging.

Anywho, they were nice to escort me to the locker area. It was nice and tidy. Had a ladies shower and a restroom. The gym is a bit laxed, so it started off a bit rocky in that I didnt realize that the class has started without me. We started the class running laps outside. And came in for some heavy stretching and overheas bar work! That's when things got real. Tip no. 1 dont wear gloves, use plenty of hand/climbing chalk. It makes a great difference. Also, when you want to store things in the lockers, bring your own lock! They dont have any there. We transitioned into squats and intense leg work... Woooooooooow (Im still feeling it today). We moves upstairs, where I found a Ninja Warrior's dream. It was everything from Rock Climbing Walls (easy, medium, and hard), to overhead bars, overhead balls (of all sizes). It was aweeeeeeesome!!! The instructors, Sam & Sam, were doubly awesome! They made sure that an amateur Ninja Warrior like me did not feel left out, modified exercises to help me build my endurance and strength, and helped me make sure I did them correctly to prevent injury. We finishes the class by completing an intense ab workout!!! Although I am super sore today, I loved the class and will def be back!
