In May 2004, the merger with Mesa County Federal Credit Union allowed employees of Mesa County and their families to join the credit union. In August 2006, a merger with Roaring Fork Employees Credit Union expanded growth and membership. Grand Junction Federal Credit Union applied to become a community charter credit union and was granted approval from NCUA on January 30, 2020. Before we start, I want to make it clear that this is not my experience, it is my mother's. I'm making this on my Yelp account as well to spread awareness of what she and her company had to go through at this bank. There was an issue where scammers impersonated the bank over the phone, and while that part wasn't the bank's direct fault, what happened next was extremely concerning. Once they gained access to her work account, over $12,000 was withdrawn from said account without any alerts, flags, or security warnings from the system. For a financial institution handling large accounts, the lack of fraud detection and response was shocking. There seemed to be no safeguards in place to catch unusual activity or prevent such a large unauthorized withdrawal from going through. During this, customer service seemed lacking and dismissive, brushing off concerns. She told me that they had barely any sense of any ownership or ugenency towards the massive loss. She is currently working with another company and taking legal action, as this has also happened to others in similar situations. Overall, she would not recommend this bank for large business or high-value accounts. Security and monitoring need significant improvement, and trust in their systems has been completely lost.
