Experiencing Florida's ruthless heat, my A/C recently took a nose dive. Having a condo that uses a…read morenon-traditional chiller system makes it difficult to even find techs willing to help. Before calling Renaissance, other companies simply would not even come out. Upon calling, a knowledgable tech immediately answered. This was refreshing simply because there was no hold music nor a time wasting answering service. An appointment was conveniently scheduled within two hours. Given that I have a tenant in the condo, the tech was willing to text me half an hour before so we could rendezvous at the same time. This level of customer service is very much appreciated. The tech arrived on time in a professional manner. Turns out the tech is the owner. He is knowledgable and conducted an investigation explaining the process along the way. This was great given that my A/C is from an alien planet. He admitted he had only seen three other units like mine in his career but still plowed through troubleshooting the issue. The price was fair and expectations set appropriately. If the issue reoccurs, there is no trip charge to come back out (a fair and honest practice). Bottomline: Very satisfied with the service I received. Finding honest service can be difficult these days but there is one truth for certain, I will be a repeat customer!

As a Floridian, there are three things top of mind that we dread: rising insurance rates, bumper to…read morebumper traffic on i-4, and your much-necessary-thank-you-very-much AC. Well, who do you call when you have AC issues? Blairs! In all seriousness, they're great. Our AC pooped out at the end of the day despite being a new build (three years old). Doing some simple troubleshooting didn't work, so we hunkered down during the night and called Blair first thing (they open at 7am, bless them). I spoke with Jay - super friendly guy - and told him the issue - my Nest was giving me a "no power source" error. Jay, without skipping a beat, began to give me a few additional troubleshooting tips to see if my AC would turn on again. One of them was draining out the water in the drip pipe, which was indeed full. He told me that may be the issue, as the AC unit would automatically shut off to prevent water damage, and to drain it and see if it turns on. In the end, that didn't work, but the fact he was so friendly and wanted to assist rather than send a tech right away to take my money, opened the doors of trust which is so hard to find in these homeowner to trade business relationships. I had to call back a few hours later when the above didn't work - Blair's sent out two guys by the end of the day, and after about an hour of troubleshooting/maintenance, determined a fuse had blown. It was $95 for the service call (reasonable if the majority of it is labor), and $55 for the part. Of course, a fuse is cheap AF (couple of bucks), but they also: 1) Rewired my nest. They suspected poor wiring done by yours truly (because I am definitely not an electrician but an self-proclaimed DIYer) might have caused the fuse to blow with wires touching. Opps fire hazard. So yeah, they cleaned it up and rewired everything. 2) Drained out the water fully in the AC unit. They had a dry vac, while I only had a hose carpet cleaner (not as effective in clearing all the water out). 3) Cleaned out my washable filter. Yeah, I should do that more often, but it was nice that they did it for me. Essentially, they did a maintenance, some electrical work, and also fixed the fuse. So all in for $150? That's a steal IMO, especially since they invoice you and didn't expect me to pay right away, giving me a float time of 30 days - really helpful for people tight on finances. Looking at the work and service they provided, including an hour of their time, I'm so happy I called Blair's rather than the default commercial company that was posted on my AC unit. I'll be calling them again in the future for any related needs they can take care of - thank you Jay and team!

I told them I had phenomenal service from Blair. Similar to what my friend now faces (and over at least 12 years ago), we had then look at an issue others not only failed to fix, but their "fix" caused water damage. Blair sent Jason, who I think is their top guy. He fixed it quickly and it stayed fixed. Since then they have been our go to for repairs and annual service. When they come for repairs and I ask what we owe them, they say let's wait a few days to be sure it's fixed, and then we'll send you a bill. That shows they care more about quality and relationships than revenue! After we moved into a neighborhood with a particularly picky HOA, they even helped us explain the necessity of a repair needed to get HOA approval, and they put a temporary work around in place while we waited for approval. That was super helpful as we had a newborn at that time. Raving to my friend made me feel badly that in all these years I never left them a review. While now I have.

for this work either. Please note that when mastic is used properly and cured it poses no danger…read morewhen it is dry and stays in place. This is not the case here. The aggressive manner in which it was used described below has been cracking, peeling, and forming chalk dust substance because of bad excessive application! The molecular structure changes to a very dangerous respirable dust that is not only dangerous but can cause life threatening complications when inhaled. Beware!!!! If I could give this company a zero I would. They took advantage of my parents in their 80s. Last October they trusted and used this company to put all new ductwork in to their home. The duct work was all new and these men decided put thick layers of mastic all over the inside of the ac system from inside the junction boxes, to all over the supply plenum, to the entire return box, all over the boot- so much so that the fins for the registrar are stuck in place with gobs of mastic. For weeks after installment pieces of this large mastic was coming down. Extremely toxic to breath in dust form and instead of taking accountability for a workmanship malfunction that we were all breathing, they sold my parents a halo device and denied any relation to the mastic. The recommended doing more work and replacement, more money! Now we have cracking mastic in dust form entering the home and it's making us all sick. This product when dried and crumbling is like breathing cement dust. We are all deterioting for this complete disregard for human life and they have never returned to even try to help the problem much less care about our health with such a careless process after making money hand over fist on my family. It's on our clothing, in the air we breathe, in our stomach , on our skin. We don't even know if they worked on a home with asbestos, black mold, etc and used this same bucket of mastic from that kind of job - to the. do overkill on brand new duct work that didn't need it. We are all increasingly getting sicker and sicker as we actively see all of this cracking, peeling, and dispersing all through what is supposed to be to be our fresh air. At any given time we cough blood and find ourselves in severe pain. I myself have been to the er countless time with respiratory distress from inhaling all of this. They also knocked over the dryer vent in the attic to the roof while replacing duct work and that was left like that for months until we had them return because of said complaints above - they tried to blame it on a man that is extremely professional that cleaned the dryer vent months prior to them even coming out or meeting us. This man has a picture of how he left everything intact and connected. These guys will blame anyone and anything for the damage they have created. These men are should be out of business for what they have done and be held responsible for all health damages they created. Stay away from this company at all costs. My family is suffering because of the poor workmanship and in proper over use of thick mastic (overkill) everywhere - that never cured properly. Take precaustion and don't use this company! We are suffering a tremendous cost (our health) at the hands of these people. These people have ruined our quality of life, the safety of our home, and this is no small issue. I can't stress enough that you will be sorry for using them and the lasting effects it could have on your breathing and health. We have had the dust that is coming down constantly tested and it's 100% dried mastic from what they did. It's shameful.this is just little glimpse of what we are breathing everyday. It's criminal. This is situation isn't over - and justice will prevail.

So happy they are open during the quarantine/covid-19. They were able to come sooner than I could accommodate, so we agreed on Thursday. Two guys came out, one was training the other to be on his own soon. It was an all day affair. One of my units checked out fine. The other one had some issues so they had to drain the Freon and check it out. I asked if they wouldn't mind cleaning up the squirrel skeleton under the unit. The young guy straight up said no! The older guy chuckled, grabbed my trash bag and went up and cleared it all out. So thankful! They were very considerate of my carpet etc. Protec installed my hot water heater which is why I called them for my AC needs. I figure, if they can do plumbing and AC, they can figure out how to cool my garage. As it turned out, I needed a separate appointment for evaluation for the air conditioning install. They are not allowed to tee off my existing unit into the garage. It's illegal. So I called and they said they could send someone out on Monday. The guy came and we talked about the options. We agreed on a new install and he was able to schedule me that week, Thursday. The team of three guys, the one who grabbed the squirrel carcass, and two other men came on Thursday and installed the unit. They were here all day, but as promised, they did it in one day. They had some issues with the wrong piping and had to redo it. They also made a small hole in the garage wall for the drainage pipe that didn't work out, so they have to come back and plug the hole. They also need to come back and cover the pipes. They didn't have everything for this custom project. The idea for the garage to be cooled is to take the edge of in the summer when I work out, not to cool It all the time. It works amazing. It has a remote control. A thermostat install would be an extra charge, but you could get it WiFi compatible and control it from your phone. Protec has an optional membership which can be tailored to your needs and is priced out depending on what you want and how many units you have. I joined. It includes 15% off plumbing and AC repairs. Hope I don't need to use that benefit. They're really good about calling and emailing. They will communicate both ways or whatever you prefer. Very professional. I would recommend them. You might get a better price with someone else, but you won't get the same warranty and guarantee.

Since then, I have called, texted, and emailed the company requesting assistance and asking for an itemized invoice for the services performed on June 29. We had used other AC companies in the past and found that the majority of the service associates were unfriendly and many of them didn't fully know what they were doing. We opted to try Hewes Heating & Air Conditioning as they were a little smaller company and 100% family owned and operated. Having spent several years in the hospitality industry, customer service is a must for me! I was so impressed with their hospitality, their friendliness and their overall service. Chris, their director of operations came out on a holiday weekend shortly after we had contacted them and did a temporary fix until they could get a full service/part for the unit during the week. When they returned later in the week, they not only checked everything within our unit and insured that our Freon was refilled and that everything was working, but they also gave us some tips and advice and even showed my husband how to help maintain the unit better than wealready were. They were so patient and walking him through all the steps they were doing! We've never had that type of service before! Overall, we had such an exceptional experience with them that we will definitely use them again! Would highly recommend them to anyone in the Central Florida area who was looking to move away from a commercialized air-conditioning service to more family, friendly owned, and operated business
