I called this company a few months ago to get an estimate on a new system. They met with me to go over what was needed. He said I'd get a quote by the next day. After a couple days with no quote I reached out and was told the guy was on vacation and I'd have to wait until he returned to get my quote. Finally they said they couldn't quote me for the all in one HVAC system that I needed. So all of this was a waste of my time. Very unprofessional behavior and I would not recommend. read more

I requested annual maintenance on my AC unit and Jesse was assigned. He was amazing. He washed, vacuumed, and polished the cover. He worked on the air handler unit and cleaned out the drain pan and line. He did more to ensure my AC was in great shape than anyone else that has maintained my unit. We had a problem with the A/C not working so well in a condo we recently bought. The interior unit had a service company name on it showing prior service so we decided to give them a try; Climate Design. GREAT CHOICE. It turned out that there were multiple issues overlaying each other. I worked as a factory equipment maintenance tech for about 15 years and a product development engineer for about 30 and know how tough it is to diagnose and sort out multiple issues. The tech that Climate Design (https://www.climatedesign.com/) sent; Cole, was professional, highly knowledgeable, communicative, went over and above (literally) and just a very nice guy. He listened, communicated, checked it out, found all the issues, and then gave us options for the present, and some suggestions for the future; which I checked out, and were very insightful and beneficial. Purchased a new AC May of 2022. The tech had a difficult time installing the unit and was a very grouchy person. 30 minutes after completion the AC stopped working. Luckily i was able to get another tech to come back the same day. The installer had installed the drain pipes incorrectly. This was the start of my brand new AC freezing up on a monthly basis and having to pay Climate Design $350-$450 to unclog the drain pipes. After a few times of this happening, I learned how to unclog the lines myself. Unfortunately the unit recently became clogged again when I was out of town, so I reluctantly called Climate Design. They sent Jake out who unclogged the drain pipe for another $450. When I returned I called Climate Design and requested a supervisor to inspect my AC unit since this frequency of clogging issues is not normal. Instead of a supervisor they sent Jake out again. He offered to do maintenance on the unit for $135. He also kept selling their worthless maintenance program. Must be a commission incentive for this because he couldn't stop talking about it. The maintenance should have been done as part of the unclogging service. Mysteriously after he completed the maintenance, the overflow shutoff valve became defective for another $150. I would advise anyone in need of a new AC unit or service on an existing unit to avoid this company, They appear to have a business model that embraces dishonesty and overcharging. read more

Let me share my experience with this company. I have been a client for a few years now. it all began after my Mitsubishi AC unit was not running right. Mind you another company who has since gone out of business (go figure), had installed the entire system a few years ago. So, Climate Design comes out to fix the outside compresso, not once, not twice, but after six times, they send out the best guy they got... Mitch. Now, Mitch finds out that there was a recall on my unit so, he and the service manager, Gary, tell me that Mitshubishi is replacing my entire outdoor unit, because it's still under warranty..GREAT !! I had to pay for labor but the parts were covered by Mitshubishi. They install it ( no permits) and it works until 6/7/25... when the entire system just stops. I call (it's a Saturday night), a tech comes out, can't figure what's wrong.. gotta wait till Monday to call Mitsubishi...ok. Monday 6/9/25, a different tech comes out, says the control board needs replaced... a week is so later, he installs it and the fuses blow. They tell me it won't be in until 6/16/25 but they won't install it until 6/19/25. I complain, and by some miracle they come out with the part on 6/16/25. Tech puts it in and it, but I've spoken to Mitshubishi who tell me to tell the tech to replace control and power board. He gives me an hard time and tells me when he called Trane they didn't tell him that so he installs just the control board and immediately blows the fuses. He replaces the fuses and it works for a day. I call, and now so they say, well, we weren't told that, so now we will replace the power board, but the part is back ordered don't know when we will get it. It's now 6/17/25. I call another company, diamond elite Mitshubishi mini installer and repair. They come out, next day they come out with both the control board and power board and replace them ... you know the power board that Climate Design said was in back ordered.. well, anyway, the fuses blow, again. The tech doesn't have new fuses so on 6/18/25, two techs come out, fuses in hand and the system still won't work. Mitshubishi now says, the outdoor unit is mismatched with the inside heads and although for some reason it worked, it should not have and even running it's not right. So, what's the solution , an entirely new system, top to bottom, because after Climate Design installed this mismatched unit ( I have an email from Tom Robinson the owner that says he was told by Mitshubishi to install this compressor) the entire system is compromised. Oh and he said they didn't need to pull a permit ( which I had no idea they didn't do, until I che with the county) ya sure do need to pull one !!! So, be careful when you deal with these folks, guess that the morale of this story. Today is 6/21/25.... Still without AC. read more

They are too expensive and do not keep their license and insurance updated. Plus the fact that they do not make sure the permits are completed after the work is done and you have paid them. Too bad it is so difficult to find a fully responsible business to be honest and thorough when hiring them to do your home improvements! read more

Austin from Climate Design came out to our house because our AC was not performing well. Nice guy and very personable. He told us we had a Freon leak and needed to have a complete new unit installed. He also said our current unit was too small so he said we had to upgrade to a larger unit. He quoted a rate of $11,700. We were shocked. We asked about changing the coils and other options but he stated none of them were a good idea and kept pushing the new unit. Obviously this rate was so high that we called another company who came out and said we simply needed Freon and they charged us $100 for it. No leak detected however they said if a leak occurred, they would simply replace the coils for a rate of $1500 where Austin said the rate would be $4000 if he were to change the coils. The AC is running great. Thank God we did not go with Climate Design. It's pretty obvious they are in the business of ripping people off. read more

Climate Design installed a Trane system at my house in 2017. which never lived up to their rationale for spending up on it. The coil had to be replaced within a few years, the air-handler cabinet was made of crappy plastic that literally crumbled, it leaked cold air into my garage from day 1 (Climate Design said this was normal. I'm told by others that it definitely is not) and the thermostat broke. Recently, they advised me that the system would soon fail. I won't detail the reasons here but part of the problem, I was told, was that the compressor was in critical condition. They gave me an obscenely expesnive estimate for a replacement system (Trane again). I hired a different company this time (saved $4,000), which installed my new system today. In the process they pulled out a piece of copper line, which had been badly bent when it was installed. This line carried coolant and was so severely bent that it probably affected flow and caused undue wear on the compressor. I'm done with Climate Design. read more

Our heat wasn't working last night, and I didn't call Climate Design early enough to have it repaired last night, but they called and were here first thing in the morning. Adonay, their tech, was professional, articulate, efficient, and dedicated to helping us. I have now asked that his name be at the top of our list for tech when we have a need. We have worked with Climate Design for a few years now, and all has gone smoothly. I have Sue Shepard as my main point of contact and really appreciate that she replies to my emails or phone inquiries very quickly and knows how to find the answer I need. Mentioning Adonay and Sue does not mean the other personnel we have worked with from Climate Design are not noteworthy -- to date they have all been very knowledgeable and professional. We have had techs from their HVAC and plumbing divisions and now I see they offer electrical services -- that's great, because I'm usually at a loss about who to call when we are here in our (seasonal) condominium. read more

I had 2 different people come to see what was wrong with my unit just 2 days apart. First time they cleaned the line out and charged me $330. 2 days later when it still wasn't cooling properly someone else came out and charged $153 for 2 lbs of freon and and then he checked the attic and said our ductwork is "a mess" and needs to be replaced and this is likely the problem. I called to get on the list for ductwork and was told it would be November at the earliest. This is July. 4 months of an AC issue in Florida is not acceptable after I paid them almost $500 for nothing. Not to mention what my electric bill will look like this month. After expressing my concerns via phone calls I was told a supervisor would contact me. He didn't so I called again. He then called back and said he will look into this and call me back the next day. Of course that never happened and my AC is still messed up. I'm a single mom who just threw away $483 with this company for nothing. read more

We've used Climate Design for years and have always been satisfied with the service and pricing. You can always get a new AC unit for cheaper, but, you'll end up paying for it in the long run when it's incorrectly installed, the wrong size for your home, or breaks down because you were trying to save a few pennies. Awesome service!!! My gas hot water tank started to leak all over the garage at 0900..Climate design was there within the hour and installed a new one with ease . They had to re-do the gas pipe, stand , venting, etc as the old one was from 1991 and not up to code. Huge job ! read more
